Completion Rewards in Every Mario Game

I don’t know if your going to read read this but in 3D world after getting to world crown you can see which levels you beat each character with

7:00 and in BitS, Bowser will be surprised that you have collected all 120 stars.

I tought one of 3D lands profile stars was completing every level with mario and luigi

In super mario world 2 if you get 100 on every level in each world you'll unlock special levels and if you complete those with 100 points you'll get a star for each one on the title screen

With the upgraded triple jump in sm64, you can't walljump out of a triple jump lol so its objectively worse

It should be 100 for Super Mario World and I spent my childhood trying to find more exits!

The Galaxy completion reward is tedious but its diferent whit mario you get the photo whit peach and the lumas in the egg galaxy and whit luigi you have the photo whit rosalina and the toad brigade in the peach castle garden and when you see in the wii letters you feel done whit that message reward from nintendo and the 2 photos that for me are cute xd

In Odyssey you forgot to mention the weird circles that appear in the ship under the globe

In Mario wonder you get a black title screen

When you unlock world crown you actually do get that indicator for which characters, just a minor correction

The crowns in the life counter thing from NSMB2 happens in 3D Land too. Also, in Super Mario Bros Deluxe on the GBC, when you play Hard Mode, the dash in the level names is replaced with a star (eg World 1☆1)

10:22 FYI, you can't restore the stars' sparkle at all even if the Super Guide block just _appears_ in a stage. In fact, you can't do anything at all to get them back-even clearing those stages again normally.

Slight correction for Lost Levels. While you do need to beat the game without warps for World 9, the same doesn't apply to Worlds A-D. For these, you just need to beat the game eight times, with no warp restrictions.

I think my favorite completion challenge is 3D worlds not only do you unlock a new character with a unique ability, but it gives you a reason to replay the game trying out the different characters and THREE new worlds with new themes and challenges

Technically it's not unlocked afterwards but the code to get luigi is revealed after the credits in new super Mario bros

Completing Mario games is so satisfying! Also, as a kid, I didn't know you could keep the stars' twinkles on the save files in some modern games only if you don't use anything to assist you. So yeah, that happened to me before.

In Super Mario 3D World, you CAN keep track of which character you already have beaten the level. I don't know exactly when, but it substitutes those little dots in the Level List at the pause menu with the symbol of each character you already used to clear the level. When you approach a level to enter it, it immediately shows which characters already have passed the level. And not only that, that green star that keeps spinning atop the flag pole symbol in each stage overworld turns to golden when you finish a level with all 5 characters.

On top of unlocking the world crown which then allows you to see which characters you completed each levels with. Once you absolutely 100 percent everything, a minigame will appear for you to play from super Mario bros 3 on the file select screen if I recall that correctly

When I die and reach the next life, thus have completed my journey, I expect to see, not an afterlife, but “you can now play as Luigi.”

I remember playing super mario galaxy 2 and hoping that when you beat the game you get to use the powerups in the glass containers on the mario faceship

I gotta say Galaxy had one of the worst completion rewards in the entire franchise like seriously who wants to play the ENTIRE game again as Luigi just so you can get a 121st STAR? Just one of the many reasons 2 was better

Uhh technically Super Mario Galaxy is a 200% and there are actually 242 stars but just going for a normal 100% is 120 stars

I believe the 3d Word Deluxe course list has the characters you beat the levels with. I could be wrong though.

Sunshine completion reward was lackluster as all you is essentially a postcard.

Actually, you can see all of the levels you have beat with certain characters after unlocking world crown in Mario 3d world

You can save on the Famicom Disc system so this includes Super Mario Bros 2 (the first in the series to introduce stars) and All Night Nippon Super Mario Bros which also granted you stars every time you beat the game. And I never got my shine in New Super Mario Bros 😔

Actually, the first game was just called Mario Bros. It was an arcade plat-former with the goal to kill all the enemies.

You should've mentioned the Mario Advance series as those had many completion rewards and even cutscenes.

But don’t you also have to beat 3d land without dying once to get them to sparkle

i've always hated the "improved triple jump" in sm64 after talking to yoshi because you can't wall kick with it

In Bowser's Fury, you also get a really cute picture drawn by Bowser Junior at the end of the credits

Also in Super Mario Odyssey, if you totally 100% it (without Luigi) your save file will have a little star in the corner.

Shoutout to Wario Land 2's 100% reward: The Really Really Final Chapter! Where you're transported to the evil lair of Captain Syrup which happens to be a flesh-walled womb with body parts like eyes and teeth, and the petrified bodies of your enemies encased into the wall. Add onto that the unsettling music, dastardly difficulty, and it's far and away one of the greatest, most disturbing surprises you'll ever encounter.

In Super Mario 3D World, the game will tell you what levels are left to complete with each character after you have collected all of the stamps, green stars, all gold flag poles, and you have reached the credits.
