That block in the beginning looked ancient. The 3:1 system for pulling the limb up was slick! So much clean up! Dean went back to hanging his saw after you gave him the hook 😂. Flopping those long logs out of the sky was wild 🤠

# of legs of rope on the piece in motion = mechanical advantage. When you span rig the branch it’s got 2 legs on the branch so it’s approx 2:1
@jiffypop247
@jiffypop247 9 месяцев назад
Technically just 2:1 it's weird but the highest pulley is just a redirect. If you had a guy up where the pulley is holding the lowering line without the pulley it would feel the same as the guy on the ground holding the line through the pulley/block

August gets some of his family in the videos too. Please be careful, I was cringing @ 22:15. Wish emergency rooms could show more of what goes on in a day. We'd probably have a lot less people fooling around and not taking the extra step to be safe.

I’m curious, the the UK trees like that on someone’s property would most likely be protected. A huge amount of trees are protected here, often because someone many years ago contested a planning application so managed to get a tree protection order on a tree just to stop someone extending their house. Is this common in the US?

When your buddy Dean made the cut around minute 2628. When is spike slipped out? Hes lucky his flip line didn't go over top of that log he'd have been done I don't know why guys don't double tie in, I don't understand it at least choke off around the log with something else.
@WildAcresFarms
@WildAcresFarms 9 месяцев назад
They are working on just a flip line because there will be 30 feet of brush piled up on top of their rope bag and basal anchor or split tail by the end of the tree. I often work solo climbing DRT, and it’s SUPER tempting to work off just a pair of flip lines. I fully understand why they choose to do it with a steel-core lanyard. Saved probably an hour on this day. You have to climb down and drag 2,000 pounds of brush clear before you can retrieve your cliimbing gear and move to next tree.
@br-dj2ti
@br-dj2ti 9 месяцев назад
@@WildAcresFarms Like I said, you can work off 2 flip lines. I do it all the time, it's easy. Also, you can carry a rope bag and have 50 foot. A rope use a uni or something like that.
@WildAcresFarms
@WildAcresFarms 9 месяцев назад
@@br-dj2ti I don’t disagree. I’d probably be on a 50-75ft MRS with a stopper knot on the tail up in the tree. But I’m a big believer in everyone’s freedom to accept their own peronal level of risk. Youre might be lower, his might be higher. I’m here to enjoy watching a man cut. That’s all. 😎
@br-dj2ti
@br-dj2ti 9 месяцев назад
@@WildAcresFarms No, no I understand buddy definitely everybody can do their own thing. I just think it's an extra precaution that can save lives. And it's is easy as just having one. My opinion God bless.

If you watch the video, jakes where he cut his climb line. If he didn't have double back up, he would have been probably dead. That's all I'm saying I've shouldn't happen too often. In this industry, especially where production. Guys are Rushing trying to get done, it happens.

So no need in setting blocks and junk just shoot it over the crotch and rigg..had a 120 ft half inch of it now 3 or 4 years stuff is just strong 💪. Even blocked down hickory loggs with it .just wish could get the ends spliced it's 12 strand so can't understand why no one splices it .??the Canadian loggers used it for years those stable braids are ok but you gotta set rings blocks xctra.its nice as solo guy mostly to just natural crotch ...thanks
