My story is hard to share due to how long I’ve struggled. I was 12 when I lengthened my tib/fibs with the Illizarov device and then my femurs when I was 15 with the Hoffman device. I experienced a lot of the complications identified in the video, and a lifetime of physiotherapy, at 44 years old, I have a hip and a knee replaced and I need my other hip and knee replaced. I wouldn’t say the inches are worth the chronic pain that comes along with the height.

What is the death rate caused by fat embolism in ll surgeries, Do you have statistics?

@Bruh-ui9lo 5 месяцев назад
Dror paley has 0% death rate due to fat embolism
@bonbonburnett
@bonbonburnett 5 месяцев назад
I don’t know about death rate but I got staphylococcus 8 years after my last lengthening procedure. They said there was a capsule of infection inside my body. My body built the capsule to protect itself but when I increased my exercise the capsule broke and the infection grew. When it was finally diagnosed, it was a nightmare to fight off. Turned out things just got worse and a few years later I got Ostiomialitis which has almost resulted in my leg being amputated. I promise that I kept my pin sights clean but the infection could have come from the operating room too. It’s been a hell of a fight and my bones are deteriorating and filled with osteoarthritis. So…it’s like being alive but also dead because it hurts all the time and I’ve had multiple hospital visits, procedures, tests and treatments. I’m just waiting for the next bad thing to happen. So, mental health takes a beating. Living in the present, taking good care of your health and making the most of everything is critical.

Hola Víctor, tengo una pregunta. ¿Dónde es más probable contraer una infección profunda en la tibia o el fémur y cuál sería el porcentaje?
@dwayneryan1317

Does lengthening with purely external systems means we can completely eliminate the risk of fat embolism as no reaming and insertion of nails are required

Just wanted to mention since I haven't seen this be mentioned before. Limb lengthening of the femur WILL most likely decrease athletic performance in a lot of aspects. The hamstrings, quads, etc are most likely fine because they attach below the lengthening point. The glutes attach above it. They will have a worse moment arm and can not generate as much momentum because of it.
@questionsin-sz8fl
@questionsin-sz8fl 5 месяцев назад
So tibia is better?
@kjellman96
@kjellman96 5 месяцев назад
@@questionsin-sz8fl I think it will depend on the use case. There are athletic advantages to having long legs and short legs. My main point is that it is ONLY a disadvantage to have your glutes attach to a higher point on the femur. Your ass will be less able to generate torque than someone with natural legs of the same length. You probably would not be able to jump as high comparatively as a percentage of your total height but your new height may contribute to an overall higher jump. There isn't really a way to know without data which is what we don't have
@kjellman96
@kjellman96 5 месяцев назад
@@questionsin-sz8fl If you lengthen the tibia you will generate less torque through it. You will not be able to kick(knee extension) as hard as someone with a natural leg that also has the same quality and amount of muscle mass

Just discovered your channel and am going through your videos, some topics I'd be interested in if you haven't already covered/video ideas: - recovery timeline, I read on reddit it takes 3 months before you can even walk again not sure if true, how long after surgery can you go biking or engage in contact sports without worrying about your legs being fragile. - can things like TB500, BPC157, or HGH be used to enhance healing, you said in one video that healing too fast can cause problems so maybe not but is there ever a time where adding this stuff in can help or do you know if clinics prescribe anything like this. for example starting a 6-month HGH cycle 6 months after limb lengthening surgery. A video on peptides and healing would be interesting. - when you pick limb lengthening surgery do you just say how much height you want, like if you want 3 inches extra in femur do you just order it or is it more a range/goal height you give them but they cant guarantee specific height gain as everyone heals differently? - derek from more plates more dates said he might make a video on limb lengthening n a recent short posted on his channel, might be worth sending him a DM on IG or something to see if he might be interested in interview.

Hey there thanks so much for checking through the content. You have great ideas for future videos. I will see about adding some of them into the content list. I have the one like walking on the channel: ru-vid.comK9pCpk3tELI. Usually it's you aim for a lengthening goal and try to see if you can get there. Oh did he really? yeah I don't know how I would get in contact with him? Also wondering what we would talk about since he wants to ask patient questions but I think his angle would be a dramatic one but I think it could be cool. I'll look into it thanks

Vector, some of the complications do need constant check up by the doctor and the surgeon you performed the surgery with. What if someone does surgery out of state? Many doctors might not be as cooperative as others so can you get it checked up by a local doc to examine your problems instead of the ones that performed on you?
@NJ-lu6wu
@NJ-lu6wu 5 месяцев назад
It can be done with certain surgeons but you risk greater complications since the ability for rapid follow up is diminished if an issue pops up. For this reason Paley requires all his patients to remain in the area during the lengthening process.

@@BloxianLegend you can do it, you just have to be extra careful and proactive about any issues you see pop up. I think people get into trouble when they notice a problem but don’t mention anything to the doctor. When you’re far away the lack of communication can exacerbate this. You also should be prepared to fly out on short notice should any significant issues arise. I don’t think anyone is prepped to handle LL complications more than your surgeon.
