Composer REACTS 😱 BERSERK - Sign 2 (Emotional Damage!) 

Sign and Sign 2 are definitely my favorite Hirasawa compositions, mostly because I spammed them while reading the Manga, but also they just feel so right with the overall vibe of Berserk. That aloof desperate helpless hope.

The interpretation of the soundtrack is spot on, love the way you contrast what you hear with other compositions and explain the unique methodology of Susumu's compositional style. I find that the beginning half of Sign 2 is like a trance with how such a low register of the vocals can create that Susumu spice of haunting and beauty with the triumphant melody. Love the demo and your short covers for these pieces man! You have to do Indra 2 and Sign 3!!

hot damn, I and II back to back? Talk about a good Sign. Puns aside, I feel like both Signs in tandem really illustrate how masterfully Hirasawa absolutely NAILS the themes of the series on both fronts -- a desolate and portentous war march with the faintest glimmer of hope and humanity twinkling in the darkness, and a near-requiem of that same humanity that feels like it's echoing those last vestiges clinging to the light that remains...both using the exact same melodies in entirely different presentations. I swear Hirasawa magically reached into Miura's mind and pulled the essence of Berserk out and distilled it to musical form. The man understands the tones of the series in a way I don't know if any other composer could achieve to quite the same IMMENSELY precise degree. I'm sure it's a common consensus that probably need not be said, but it's been a delight and a privilege to see you experiencing this journey. Thanks for letting us accompany you along the way.

YES, I’m telling you that ost goes with anything eg I edited a tf episode and it still sounded like it was the original which shows how good the song is. Note if you want more songs recommend that sound like berserk and all just tell me lmao I can list plenty

The best way to enjoy this is to imagine it’s being played after Guts had cast down Griffith and the Godhand and retired to a farm with Casca and their Son.

I remember seeing a vídeo when Miura died with that OST as a tribute there was someone who described perfectly the song which is this is like an ending song, tbh i can see perfectly the end of the manga with that OST in the background while the corpse of Griffith is resting by Guts sword "saying" thats all and Guts and Casca can finally rest and live like actual human people remember Guts is fighting again and again almost without rest while his desperation and sadness grow and Casca well, i have to remember it?

Just had to listen again to your review of Sign 2. Love it. I think there is Sign 3 as well? Anyway Sign 2 and Sign 3 have this Griffith Triumphant feel to it. For me it is more relevant when the Hawks crush Tudor army at Doldrey. they March back to the city of Midland who hired them- to great praise from the citizens. For Guts, it is also for him in adoration for defeating the mighty Buscogne and for Casca her victory over the bundling idiot Adon and she receives high praise and respect for her valiant efforts. The Hawks are at this point at their level of performance and each surviving soldier can perchance to see their dreams come true. I guess it hits home different for everyone.

Some of Hirasawa's songs have actual words, some are just glossolalia. I believe it's the latter here.

you should check Island Door - not for Berserk but it's one of the greatest Hirasawa works in my opinion.
