The wind metaphor part blew my damn mind, that's so incredibly clever! I always flip flop on my favorite jojo part as far as the narrative goes, but this theme is easily my favorite piece of music from the series. That and the track that plays every time Polnareff is attacked in a bathroom lmao
Between those two, I'd dare to say Golden Wind triumphs very heavily. However they work the best when you put them together. I'm sure someone already did a mashup between the two somewhere on the internet!

@@y0av359 yeah that’s a really good song, very emotional. Another example is Never Gonna Give You Up. A great love song IMO, and Rick is a great singer, but his fairly successful carrier skyrocketed when he became one of the longest running memes in existence.
Let me just say as a choreographer, when one of my gymnasts said she wanted this as her floor music, I nearly screamed like a little girl! There are so many different layers for a choreographer to work with! It's a dream piece! It was one of the most fun routines I've ever made. The anime's poses just lend themselves to awesome unique choreography. You can almost hear the poses throughout the piece. The distortion sounds right before the piano I turned into a JoJo pose fest ( starting with Dio's signature lean back and ending with Jotaro's point). I like looking around at a meet when that JoJo yells out in the arena to see who all the anime-niacs are! To have people familiar and unfamiliar with the song just smile and enjoy the uniqueness of the music and poses is a testament to how epic this song is to hear. Plus it was a great excuse to slide in about 10 to 12 classic poses.
Sadly it doesn't always work like that, plenty of masterpiece tracks from anime and games are fairly unknown. But I'm glad Giorno's Theme got the recognition it deserves! @@AlexMoukalaMusic Very true, the meme factor came from the fact that it is also part of a very popular, memable series! Yugo Kanno does excellent work, and that's definitely one that I recognize and love. But the highlight for me in that series is 'Sono Juukou wa Seigi o Shihai suru' for the atmospheric presence that it brings into the dystopian, futuristic setting. Also, that's an excellent screamo, would love to hear more of that 😁
Definitely glad of the memes of Jojo myself, while I never paid much attention to the manga or anime, the music always ended up getting played on my playlists from time to time, and I probably wouldn't have heard them if not for my Jojo friends or the memes. And Alex absolutely agree with you on Inochi no Arikata, the entire Psycho-Pass soundtrack is one I go back to, and actually recently started to rewatch the show too. May be onto something with Y Kanno's being something special.
Japan really do possess a LOT of amazing composers with YK initial and 4 letters on their name - Yugo Kanno - Yuki Kajiura - Yuka Kitamura And if you stick around long enough, you probably have heard some of their songs.

To me, this song is an astonishing Masterpiece. It has EVERYTHING. It's funky, it's catchy, it's epic, it's badass, it's grandiose. It has a banger melody, it has a guitar solo, it has funky synths, it has an amazing bass, it has a Sax solo, it has vocals, it has Angelic Choirs, it has a Piano solo, it has a Violin. How much can you add to a song? And absolutely no second of this is boring. To this day, I haven't heard a musical piece so rich in content as this one.
And the true reason why you bob to this song, and by fact most songs, is the freaking baseline. Such a fun line to play and glue everything together with consistency.

You should DEFINITELY finish the series because at the very end there is an orchestral version of the theme that plays and it's probably the most beautiful rendition there is.
This analysis makes me enjoy the music so much more just because he brings these little details to light. Also your reactions make me enjoy some parts of the song that I didn't pay much mind to, now I have to bop my head at the saxophone part lol. I love that especially in Part 5 you can tell what a character's personality and Stand ability from track. Mista sounds like an excited EDM Hotline Miami like track because when he's winning you can feel his dopamine rush in his gunslinging. Narancia's feels like an aerial dogfight score. Trish's has so much elasticity. Abbacchio's sounds like an investigation and finally coming together. Before even adding to the sfx in the tracks to bring them all together.
Noticing the strings that really _do_ sound like howling wind was a 10/10 insight, I would never have caught on to that! I've heard it somewhere mentioned that Giorno's theme has some elements of Dio's theme in there, somewhere? I'd love if someone could confirm that for me...
Another absolutely amazing analysis! Part 5 is my favorite and Giorno my favorite JoJo, so of course I absolutely love this track even if it is a meme. And I was definitely blown away by this track when I first heard it, it's just absolutely incredible! Also, for the angelic parts, it also makes since not only is the antagonist named Diavolo, but also Giorno is the son of DIO: the son of god
I just really like watching you analyze tracks because you put that emotion that some people lack when analyzing things on youtube. You can perfectly recognize what the composer felt when playing this track and vibe along with the feelings he poured in the songs. Un saluto da Roma

I love how you break down the music you cover, I always feel basically illiterate as to how music is constructed and it's interesting to see it broken down the way I could more easily do to something like a novel's structure.

8:40 That is genuinely how wind is done in old movies. I remember all of that from old American cinema clips as how that would be represented. Very interesting that it was put in a song.
This theme may be overplayed / memed to death but it's a genuinely good song. The whole piece slaps and not just the piano part (my favorite is whenever the sax comes in). Also, I just love when choir is used in modern pieces like this, it's so satisfying.
Such a great breakdown of this masterpiece, it helped me understand why exactly it makes me so hype. And who better to do this than the real-life Jojo character himself.
Just braking out the Japanese after switching from English to Italian to French(?) caught me off guard; I was unfazed by the first two language changes, but that third one got me especially with understanding it somewhat I didn't even notice the transition from Italian to French without going back to listen again another time

You should also react to Grimm Troupe theme and Nightmare King from Hollow Knight those are two of my favorite video game themes and I would love to see what went into making those as well. As a woodwind player the distortions in the sax solo are made by playing with the reed and your emouchure. It's definitely a SKILL to bend notes like this on a woodwind instrument.
I have been making my way through the manga parts available in English before starting each part, but my god, does the music make me want to start each part immediately. The Stone Ocean theme is also really nice!
