Also, this episode solidified for me if yoko taro EVER pushes for drakengard to get an anime, it needs to be the amazing studio at MAPPA

Interesting when coincidently just reach s3p1 to compare it to red swan, because they both have that nostalgic undertone. But your intepretation about the lyric of Under the Tree as a metaphor of protection is a little bit off because you just haven't found out the context of final season yet. What under the tree means here is more like a promise to remember you as what she always did especially under that old tree they used to hang out during their childhood when they are still innocent and free of guilt and sins that sort of context.
