I think you’re a genius! I can hardly wait to get started. It’s March 23 and in WV, the last frost could be May 15, so I’m collecting the containers from our recycling center, and, of course, compost! You should write a book. I’d buy it for sure!🥰

Hi Robbie, I love your bubbly enthusiasm. It is so refreshing when there is so much chaos in the world today. I watched your video and I believe it is just the answer I need to make my plants vibrant! It is after midnight here on the upper Texas Gulf Coast and I am on my deck with soldering iron in hand punching holes in my containers while it is tolerable outside. Our heat indexes have been 100-108 and with so much humidity it is stifling :(. God Bless and keep smiling!

You kept saying florist containers. So I called my florist in my town. They said that I could have some of their old containers. I'm soooo excited to get free container. On ss, so money is tight. I hank you, Robbie for the info.
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy Well, the florist gave me small easter baskets. Not really what I needed. The other florist said that they had none. Still looking. At our walmart, I can buy for a $1.00, icing containers. Thanks
Hi Robbie, I love how excited you are about life, it makes me feel good. Your ideas are great, I think you may be a genius. You make me... HAPPY, I just love you 😊🥀✝️🌿🌻🌲🌾 God bless you real good. Jude from Kentucky 🐎 🌿 🥀
Hi Robbie, I'll try to keep it short. I put the little twisty things on my hummingbird feeder and I have a very old, pretty beat up and thin looking hummingbird who enjoys the perch very much. It's really sweet to see her get a much-needed break, thanks to you! Also, scraps breakdown much quicker if they go in the freezer first. Earthworms love bananas, avocados and mangoes. They will actually get into the Seed where there's another seed. Now I have a mango growing in my worm bin.

Hi Robbie, I love watching you and Gary garden! My patio is so small that I have about three feet and that is shared with a grill and the trash can! I put two storage bins out and filled them the way you taught me, last year. All the while I’ve been fortifying them with cups of layered compost. I’ve just been trying to figure out the most effective way to do it. I was making tiny piles and turning the cups upside down, when the scraps break down, I spread them out, cover them with leaves and make a new cup somewhere else. We’ve been using similar methods all because you taught me to compost in place! Thank you!💕

That will help my grandson teach why I compost. He’s really into gardening with me. He’s 18 and loves to cook but hates most vegetables and fruits. We have raised beds and totes in the back yard. While I’m off on a mini vacation he’s taking care of them. He even sent me a picture of himself proving he’s watering. 😂
Aura Harvey I am in Florida to, and have been doing this after following Robbie's channel. It is working very nicely. Most importantly cover the scraps with soil or you will have a smelly mess.

My friend, I appreciate this idea of yours, the concept just like a trash bin, but very useful in our Garden, no need to check for the compost regularly, no need to add water because its already there as you water the plant, very easy to move to anyplace we want in our Garden, perfectly save our time! lol I will be a lazy person in a Garden after this, Thank you so much for this brilliant ideas. Best regards from me here. GOD BLESSED.

Hi there. I attempted to set up like yours and failed because of a person or animal. My 2 family members think I'm dealing with a raccoon. What fun. Never bothered my stuff before until now. They know how to get heavy things off my compost bin. It's mind blowing. Hope when I redo and set on a palette it won't get knocked over. Tfs
You may need a locking type of lid, as some raccoons can be tricky. You can get some cheap "pepper powder" from a dollar store and sprinkle that on top of your bins, as raccoons do not like the smell of peppers, thanks, Robbie
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy Hi there. Thanks. I was thinking locking lid and rock. As I walked in the garden the day before to check my corn I looked down and there were raccoon tracks. I couldn't believe it. I use to get cinnamon from the dollar tree to keep the cats from getting in my garden boxes but they stopped carrying it. Thanks for the tips.

Great video. I have 3 10-gal grow bags that I’m using to compost in place. I lay newspaper on top then a double layer of tulle. Clothes pin it in place or lay a couple of rocks on top. No smell or rodents so far. My first container is a couple of months old. Hope to fill them with growing medium this way as well as fertilizing plants around it. Will have to start trying to collect small containers. Love free soil and fertilize.

I have watched this video many times and here I am watching it again. I definitely want to try this compost in place method. Thanks again for sharing your method.
Okay ... I ran outside and was about to drill holes in a coffee canister .... but then I saw 2 planters from recently bought perennials. They already have nice sized holes. I just picked up used coffee grounds yesterday, so I put them in the bottom, about half way up.. Then I put in native soil and some little kale plants that NEEDED transplanting. I placed the planters next to some NEEDY plants. I always hear that earthworms love coffee grounds. Not exactly what you were saying to do, but I think this will work. Thanks again for such great ideas!!

Hi Robbie I'm just starting out my name is Lindy and I live in Hemet in Riverside County my question is is when I water my little container tomatoes are peppers whatever I'm growing will the water hurt my worms in my plastic containers ?do I wanted lift them up and water the soil and then put the little containers back? how do I do? I'm really excited about learning everything from you because it's been a dream of mine to Garden. but when I Garden before it was too much work and every high water bill. And insects that ate my plants. the weeds in the ground. I was not successful . now I have hope now because of you. I will be successful so thank you so much.
Salma kamal "Stand alone self watering irrigation" video is great. Does destroy foundation, so more of an initial technique. U probably could add food scraps in or even blended. The liquidified stuff would wick I'd assume and fabric be preserve depending on material. Id probably relocate this unit to the edge and coil a string around for easier access. Could place strings ontop for unexpected transplants and burry slightly. People just uses reservoir bin-in-bins for ease of mass watering and train roots to delve deep, but roots can clog?? Would love your insight. I add stuff ontop of my high huglekulture buried 10gal bucket but this would carry nutrients further and more directly to plant.

Hi Robbie, just wondering if grinding my leaves will help them to break down quicker? I have an old trash can in my indoor garden, (I feed with Master Blend plant fertilizer), and when the leaves die off, I pluck them and store them in the waste been. I was thinking about running those leaves through a food possessor along with some food scraps, then using this mini-compost in place unit.

Hey Robbie - I know this one is older but I'm just seeing it (which is weird). ANYWAY, I have a silly question maybe but I can't be the only one so thanks in advance if you can offer your expertise/opinion. It's Fall and I've put my in-ground garden to bed but have covered with leaves to prevent erosion, retain moisture, etc. 1.) Could I get a Maxwell House (used) coffee container - the huge plastic ones at 42.5 oz - and just put kitchen scraps in it to the top? 2.) Then make my holes on the bottom & holes in the lid? (OR a round cut for a planter?) 3.) When ready to use, throw some native soil on top of my scraps in the 42.5 oz container 4.) Then bury an inch or so beneath the soil line in my in-ground bed to revitalize through winter and surround with leaves? I would use several of these containers through-out my small plat of 10x6. Here's the tricky: I'm seeking a way to make a micro-climate for certain plants that could survive & continue to thrive in the colder weather we may experience; Like lavender and my new lemon verbena. Keeping them inside during winter is hard & also sad. I'm wondering if I could stick THEM inside the hole I'd make in the lid. I feel like the generated heat would be fine & not too much but I am unsure. They'd be in terra cotta. What are your thoughts on this twist in the plot?
Oh, wow, this is long. Yes you will generate some heat and you can put the coffee containers in there and continue to compost that way. But the heat will only be for a short time, because the microbes and earthworms are what creates the heat. So if it’s too cold, it might sit dormant until the weather starts to warm up later on. Either way, whatever you saved will still be good because when the time is ready, it will continue to break down. If your plants are that cold sensitive, you may want to stick them in the garage or on the patio, someplace closer to the house or up against the wall where that is actually warmer, But you can try it it may work. Because the breaking down matter, if it breaks down in the cool weather, and I don’t know where you are, if you’re getting snow or not Does create some heat. But it won’t create heat if it’s in the snow. I hope you understand it be easier to get a verbal question then reading all this and trying to figure it out in if I got your question right. I hope you got some info from this, thank you so much. 😊
I do understand! I'm in Zone 8b [South Carolina] and snow is not a thing (but rarely, can be)! I think I may try it just to experiment. If it fails, well I learned something and the composting is still a good thing for the plat. Thank you so much for your valuable insight, thorough answer, and of course, your time!! @@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy 🥰❤
Wow, that IS cool, because I'm always thinking , "what will I do when that compost bin fills up ?" Cause we always have food scraps and cuttings. Thankyou ! I have one question, Is it ok if your compost gets moldy ?
Hi, the orioles here only are fed by me hummingbird food, and the scrub jays do get peanuts too, Thanks so much for commenting and watching, here on this new video, I went over almost all the questions from this video, I hope I answered many questions and thoughts on this, I love it, Thanks again, Robbie ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BNtmFbcMPMI.html
