Here I show you how to too dress the lawn with compost using a compost spreader or peat moss spreader. This is useful to spread evenly and sift out any large wood chunks or sticks.
I also level out some small low spots on the lawn by going back forth in different directions.

I myself wouldn't have tossed the leftover wood chips into the green bed - I would have just spread it out evenly over your mulched perimeter beds. That's good stuff to keep and use.

I'd try and put a brick on the back side of your compost spreader so it doesnt roll then dump the wheel barrow in =]

Can I do this on my hard soil thinking of mixing Peat moss with grass seeds and use the peat moss spreader on my lawn and hope I can make my lawn look better

You can yes. The compost can help amend the soil. I have straight clay soil so this helps give good nutrients to the soil.

Organic compost breaks down into the ground lawn. I assume not the product to use to even out a lawn correct?

It does break down. I know it’s not a long term fix but will get me by for a season or two until I pull the trigger on a full renovation.

Would you go through that again? Or would you use peat moss instead?

I would do compost again, in fact I plan on doing it next Spring. This spreader I used was very heavy which made the job more difficult. I’ve used other spreaders, my favorite being from Landzie, that are light weight. Compost is also much more nutritious for the lawn compared to peat moss.

@@HomegrownHowTo I have the landzie! The 24 inch one I think it is. Can you tell me if this is right? I heavily thatched and scalped for a week. Now overseed with Artimuss blend tall fescue. Then starter fertilizer. Then screened compost in a small layer over the top with the landzie. Is that the right order? Thank you so much.

@@sbond1963 yep sounds right! You got some solid seed there! Just be sure to keep that seed moist and you should be getting some germination soon! Should have a beautiful lawn in no time!
