My bush block has no available water so am going to go with the Sun-Mar as the Nature's Head looks like lotsa water on tap could be needed when cleaning out that agitator, much easier for my situation to use a bio-bag I just empty out and chuck in compost pile. Of course I wd be cleaning it out w water etc ea empty but just seems more straightforward. Thanks again!

Very nice review. Some small/van rv'ers swear by "composting" toilets (which actually don't compost in the short time waste is in them), but I'm not convinced.

I've been looking at both toilets and picked the sunmar for my next toilet ( num.3 ) because of the simple construction and no moving parts ( two hinges) . The sunmar is also better for taking apart and letting nature ( rain and sunlight do the cleaning ) and for my bike trailer with has no suspenssion means lots of violent shaking on some trails , no moving parts to break or diconnect . All out claning seems easier on the sunmar . For a cabin with running water I would choose the Nature head and design the room accordingly .My airhead would get stuck and be difficult to move and cleaning was not fun . Dam that sunmar could be taken for a swim or pressure wash

Better than a bucket , thats for sure ......a buckect does not seprated which makes a big difference.........also a bucket has no fan therefore condensation can deposit on the rim and burn your butt ....amonia is my guess . I had a chance to play around with composting toilets and have owned some .....no more buckets for me .....thanks for the demo

ive been throwing these around in my head for a year or two now. im on my second cargo trailer conversion. im afraid the urine splashing when traveling and the porous texture on the gtg is keeping me from pulling the trigger on it. i do want something similar to that ease of use though. guess ill have to build my own! ive actually gathered parts the last year. im thinking a small urine tank and silinoid valve for effortless draining.

Yo ...me again I've been using my Sunmar GTG toilet and I prefer it to the Airhead .Moving around a lot and for four months in one shot . Cleaning the interior of the outer container , first removing bucket and urine bottle has been frustrating as it is difficult to get the rinse and wash water out of the container . I tried tipping the toilet to get liquids out and the rim prevented all out draining and constantly liquid sloshing back into the container . Because of this scenario , I decided to drill a 3/8 inch hole at the bottom for draining the container . A plug will then be inserted into the 3/8 inch hole after cleaning . I'm trying to find out what the material is making this toilet . I think it's polyethylene which means it could be drilled safely and not compromise the material characteristics . My question to you is , do you know of someone who has drilled thru the container for the same reason, draining after cleaning and do you know what the composition of the plastic for the outer container . Thanks for your time and efforts .

Question as it is only me a male iny bus i have a urinal which currently is plumbed toy black tank. Is the fan on the composting toilets only for the solid waste? O ask as i will eventually convert to composting toilet vut would like to keep the urinal for standing while peeing mainly but unsure if a simple pee trap will stop urine smells with a minimal flush of water?

yeah, get the middle ... a c-head, agitator easy to handle and reaches every corner, so you don’t need much medium to ‘cover’ your poo.

Would it be possible to add a scoop of your "composting stuff" in rhe solids bucket, even with a bag" & stir it in to make the bag last longer? I'm leaning toward the bag method since I'd be a solo female driver.

I have the Nature's Head one. I don't like the urine tank being visible. It is also difficult to clean/dump because you have to take the whole top off and the whole bottom outside. Also the agitator is hard to clean. And while it might actually better at composting..no composting happens in cold weather and low temps. I also found it was not completely odorless. For very infrequent use it is much better to have a bag you can remove for away periods. I will be getting the Sun Mar as a replacement.
