In this video I go over my barebow set up with the compound and show you how I set mine up and shoot it.

LOVE seeing OTHER archers shooting compound bow BAREBOW ! I'm shooting a video this weekend (December 2021) myself, showing how you can combine Olympic Archery's under-the-chin ANCHORING & down-the-arrow-itself SIGHTING with STRINGWALKING (for precise elevation hence RANGE) to shoot a compound bow BAREBOW all the way from 10m to 90m (100yds) and beyond - even with a 40# Genesis Gen-X compound bow or my beloved Browning Ambush80 (80% let-off) 60# compound bow :-O ! Since the #1 advantage of a COMPOUND BOW is LET-OFF, it only makes GOOD SENSE to HOLD YOUR DRAW for few seconds while you're aiming - as if you're TRACKING a deer for a few yards as it paces, just waiting for it to be in an OPTIMAL position (eg broadside or slightly-quartering-away) for taking your BEST shot. The shooting method I'm describing EMPOWERS you to be ABLE to hold your draw while aiming precisely (literally arrow-tip-ON-the-bullseye at EVERY distance) even over ranges like 5m to 100m :-) Thanks again for INSPIRING compound archers everywhere to RE-THINK if they really NEED the SIGHTS and COUNTERWEIGHTS and RELEASES in order to shoot compound bow ACCURATELY. I watched you absolutely (and EFFORTLESSLY) NAIL what looked like a QUARTER-SIZED grouping with your arrows - NICELY DONE YOU ! -Mark Vogt | VOGTLAND OUTDOORS

I admire your innovation in setting up your compound to shoot gap or instinctive style. Too often, it appears that compound shooters are into loading their bows with all the technology they can find. Many have no real idea what the arrow and bow are actually doing (ballistics), but they can cover up that lack of knowledge with using a $300 sight, $200 arrow rest, and $50 release aid to get some results. In reality, their accuracy is often little better (or worse) than trad/barebow recurve shooters who conversely are forced to really understand what their bow, arrow, and body are doing to complete an accurate shot. Your video, along Vogtlands, is convincing this barebow recurve shooter and USA Archery instructor to experiment with compound soon. Oh, and now I might be able to use my cheap 350 spine Allen arrows from Walmart (years ago before I learned proper spine selection) that were "OK" for a 45 lb recurve, but more suited to compound.

Great! I also have a fast compound to play with. You can shoot it 3 under too, you just need to adjust the nocking point. I shoot mine 3 under and it flings bareshafts like rockets. Great vid.

That'll work! I used foam tubbing on my riser and a bear carpet rest, i shoot instinctive as well like my traditional bows I too like to shoot my compounds off the shelf but with today's bows you have to do your own creative design on the risers! Well Done!

Very nice!!! I've been wanting to get into barebow compound competitions but others have told me that its really easy to derail a compound if I torque it slightly. Have you ever had any problems like that?
@BACKWOODSVET

I have never had that happen but it can happen.

Great video. Sorry I never caught your name. Is your plunger solid with hair on it. Do you bare shaft tune your arrows.
@BACKWOODSVET
@BACKWOODSVET Год назад
It's a push archery plunger called an accutune. And I just put a furniture pad on it. And yes I bare shaft tune most all my arrows for a bow but sometimes I'll shoot the arrows with other bows.

Cool vid! How is your anchor changed with the compound compared to the recurve? I like the easy dowel and plunger rest. Keep up the great content!
@BACKWOODSVET
@BACKWOODSVET 2 года назад
I still anchor with the middle finger to my mouth but this is split finger. I shoot recurve 3 under. It changes a little bit you get used to it pretty quick. The compound is so accurate out to longer ranges cause of less of an arrow drop. It will surprise you how good you'll get with a setup like this.

whats that?? 33, 34 Axle zu Axle? Wouldnt shoot that bare. Ask a Shopowner about the problem with shooting bare with that short of a n a/a. You should have at least 38+ to avoid camlean and aftter a while of continues camlean, an exploding bow.
