Hey Rex, just got a new scope, you should check it out. DNT TNC 225R. It is similar to the Zulus, but is Day/Night/Thermal. Night 5X20, Thermal 3X12. And it can split screen for both might, thermal or day, two of the choices. I got it with the spin of the wheel on the site for 10% discount. Scope mount similar to the Zulus. And same battery. And range finder.

That comprises 90% of the scopes I have in inventory, and I have multiples. Finding a reviewer who has a similar mindset is a great way to get turned on to the stuff you might want.

Rex, your reviews are always great. I use the wifi when my kids are shooting. It is great to coach them on shot placement and other tips because I can see what they see.

Glad to see you are doing well. This looks like a nice unit. It looks like it's aluminum instead of being plastic. I'm kind of surprised it doesn't have a compass to go with the accelerometers because lot of times they are in the same chip. That could be a nice feature if they ask you for feedback. I saw that they also have a version with a laser range finder and ballistic computer. It amazes me how much better the digital nv has gotten. Maybe someone will make a monocle/bino with that chip or does it still have that digital lag people complain about?

Got mine about a week ago. I opted for the rangefinder as well. There's a cell phone app that talks to the scope via bluetooth and does ballistic calculations. I haven't had a chance to work it all out yet, but I'm impressed with the low light functionality.

My only concern is that WIFI/Bluetooth is detectable and Chinese manufacture guarantees that spyware/remote control is built into the hardware. Along with that, anything that emits light is detectable. For peacetime use this is a fantastic scope, but our world is rapidly becoming hostile so tactical considerations have to take precedence.

On mine you have to turn on the wifi function otherwise when you turn it on it defaults to off and is undetectable on the network. Mine doesn't seem to have bluetooth. I think it only comes with the ballistic calculator version.

FINALLY someone that thinks like me on that. That's exactly why i will never own a night vision scope, they all have Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/GPS for that very reason. Any government agency can track you and see what your scope sees. So I'm a bug out moment leave your cellphone and scope behind.

How much can you see through these things without using the IR emitter? Would it be more comparable to a gen 1 tube, or a gen 2? Or? Do you need to use the IR emitter all or most of the time, or? Just trying to compare what it does to standard night vision.

What do you recommend for a ar10 POF revolution DI .308 18.5" i currently have a 1-6x sig lpvo its very good but i need more magnification, i want to be able to see and shoot 200-800 yards, I t ud very accurate and LOUD, i want a suppressor also so i can hunt without ears on, my main reason for suppressor is for sound suppression and accuracy loeer recoil, dont care if ut doesn't get rid of flash, it st want a good longer range scope with night 🙈 nt capabilities and suppressor for sound reduction and less recoil, so probably a good break that it will fit over.

How many batteries does it use and how long do they last, i have 4 in my grip and getting bcm foregrip to put more in going to wrap them in something that stops emp from devices and Forest beings that can also drain batteries and manipulate digital technology, i need a lead lined bag to put over the scope woud like a Gillie suit like thus to sneak into areas with energy detecting abilities or technology, a popular man dis this ti get pictures with a analog 35mm camera, he is sueing the Canadian government over the acknowledgement of the Sabe people aka sasquatch, that how he got in close enough for get pictures, he was pushed down a hill having a branch penetrate his leg and they fixed his leg and helped him out of the forest to the amazement of the people searching and him ajd couldn't understand how his leg was healed so good in a short time and while in forest without medicine and rest.

Darn Rex...you did it again. At 32:20 you begin to comment on the IR Illuminator, and didn't spend more than 6 seconds on the topic. I just watched your more recent night vision $500 vs. $5000 and I left a comment there, inquiring about IR Illuminators. It's not just you Rex, I have not yet found a video from a good source who has adequately covered the illuminator issue. Personally, I am unhappy that my 'Sportsman's Guide' Gen 1 Night Vision Device, has such a noticeable red IR glow. In fact, I've used my Gen 1 scope around the public park in the evening, and people from a distance saw the red IR illuminator glow. How can this be avoided? My IR built in illuminator is 805. The scope is a Firefield 5x50 (I think) cost me about $150 maybe 10 years ago. THANK YOU

I’ve got the same model, my opinion is it’s a great scope. This my fourth scope from Arken and I’m happy with all of them. Only issue I’ve had they didn’t ship me some flip caps for my 1-8 scope but the scopes are great even if they are manufactured in china. I’ve been thinking about getting the laser range finder model. And they are coming out with the 7-35 and have them for sale. May sound odd but I’m using my thermal to find my targets and then use the Zulus to shoot the targets. My only wish would be to have a good QD 0 MOA mount for it, that would be the only thing I would change about the whole scope. Hopefully, Arken is listening!!!! Your video to me gives more insight and information than the website. This scope with the IR in auto, makes it better than any of the others I’ve used. The Sony chip I think is the magical component. Just my opinion and thoughts. Great video, thanks for sharing and posting.

To be fair. The thermal vs NV comparison isn’t quite fair. Especially price wise. Thermal is always more expensive But Arken is dropping there Thermal/NV/Daytime zulus here soon. Same as this just added thermal. 256core thermal 3-12 zoom with still 5-20 zoom on NV side. Im waiting for that to drop. Be a pretty decent setup for the price and even at little 256 core, good enough for 50-100yrd thermal stuff. Rumor is a 3xx core version is coming out eventually also.

Thanks for the great review! On a somewhat related note, I have found that some of the highest mAh capacity and top quality 18650 batteries can be purchased at vape shops. I run Samsung 18650 batteries in all of my night vision and thermal stuff with much longer life than random Amazon batteries.

I got a friend who wants a thermal scope, to hunt yotes. I keep telling him that he is much better off getting a thermal monocular (or other such setup) and a night vision scope. Thermal is great for finding targets but they are terrible at identifying them. And you can get both the monocular and a NV scope for less then a thermal scope. I got a PARD DS35 and InfiRay T2 Pro for a little under 1,200.

Assuming monocular use: With this digital night vision you will be better able to identify what you are looking at, you will be able to see through glass (without IR turned on), and you can equip all you folks with one of these for the same price as a good thermal.

I want something like this but shorter ranges. I want 1x to 8 or 10 . 5x is to high for a minimum. But a holowsun night vision red dot isnt enough. Anyone recommend something in the middle. I want it for a zastava m77 .

I got the Arken 5x25 and they sent me rings,,,,I needed a mount ,,,I have tried on a couple of different occasions to order the mount. And every time I try,,,,,,.It will not let me order.,,,It says something about my address,,,,,But had no trouble ordering the 600 dollar scope,,,,,but the 69 dollar mount I'm having a problem,,,,,,hhuuu

If you're hunting at a facility that puts out feeders inside 100 yards, you may find the 5x base magnification too much. Your field of view will be very limited.

Thank you for the review. I keep ALMOST buying it. Wanted to wait for a complete USA review. Now I have that, but now wonder about the laser rangefinder (VERY appealing). And in the UK they have the 3x12 version with the laser. Then again, I hear about a blended NV/thermal version in early test. This is like trying to decide on a new P.C. in the early 1990s.

I have had one with the IR rangefinder since late last year. I agree with almost everything you said except what you could put it on. It is rated up to a .308 rifle. Mine lives on my AR 15. I’ve ranged out to a little over 1100y with the range finder. The ballistics program is amazing. You can zero at whatever range you want with a one shot zero. After you enter your ballistic data and range your target it will automatically give you an aim point. Very good review. One of the few things I would change on it is the reticle thickness. I think it is a bit too thin. In many ways I like it better than my IR Reaper thermal.

I'm thinking about one for my kit. Options create opportunities. A tip for you on your homestead. The best option against rodents are Owls, I kid you not. No straying or poisons on any kind in your soil. All natural and they are one of the most efficient birds of prey.

My X-Sight II can connect to my phone through their app via the WiFi and/or Bluetooth. This lets an observer see exactly what the shooter is looking at. It's older tech, though, which translates to about twice the weight.

Was wondering when you would review this (since it is from Arken). As mentioned, not meant for combat-duty (in areas with easy access to modern technology), but more vermin-duty or general low-risk low-threat observation. Aesthetically very pleasing design. How sensitive is zero-shift when mount/dismount with a quick release setup? any Black friday sale for $499? Lol I'll pick one up just to have it as a fun/specialty item (ie for that 1 rare scenario if it ever presents itself). great review thanks.
