To further the diagnosis, if the compressor kicked out the pressure in the rad should come down and the bubbles stop completely. So before pulling the head I would have put 100 psi regulated air into the compressor signal line. Because I've seen egr coolers do the same .
That's cool. I expected an engine head gasket on first site, didn't know the air compressor has coolant running through it, but it makes sense that it does. Easy fix.
A good diag would be to connect inlet and outlet coolant hoses to bypass compressor. Not shown or done in video. So no more good diag from commentors please
Thank you for all the hard work you do to actually keep america running. Its a thankless job but their are those of us that know how important the men are that kèep us moving.
Yes, this malfunction is common among trucks, and it is air crossing over water, which causes air pressure to enter the engine and expel water to the outside. The reason is damage to the gasket in the air pump.
It's not near as bad if you have the parts to fix it but a real bugger on the shoulder helpless and I have been there. And it's always at the most inopertune time or place. I had to fix simple things like glad hands an pig tails but had the stuff to fix it. I always carried extra parts and tools.
Yeah my truck was pushing hella coolant. They replaced the head gasket and it still was pushing it out. They looked at the air compressor and boom! Stopped all together once it was replaced
@@rickykingi5191 Off the snap on truck. I would advise pre-lubing your rectum before ordering. You may have to wait on the blue color. I bitch about the price but it’s worth it.
In my opinion, if someone is a truck driver and does not understand anything about mechanics, it is better to change his job I am a truck driver in Iran and I drive an Actros 1843, it is a tent container and I carry freight from Iran to Moscow and Georgia country 😊
Awesome job and thank you for the video. Same thing just happened to me on my MX 13. I've ordered the new gaskets but can't find the torque specs and pattern. Can you help me out with that info please?
I sure liked it better where the compressor was on my N14. The PACCAR motor is designed for cabovers, so things are arranged a bit differently than what us old guys are used to. A toasted compressor can really send your cooling system into orbit. My recurring problem was that it kept shearing off the drive for the power steering and fuel lift pump that are stacked on the back of the compressor. KW said the compressor was fine, but we had the same issue three times until we yanked the compressor and put in a new one. Bad design.
Well I had my 60 series Detroit pushing cool and back out like that but come to find out it was a remanufactured motor and all 38 head bolts we're loose put a new head gasket back on it and torque back to specs no problem sense but we also thought that could be a problem to a compressor head gasket
Once happened to me with Actros, but oil was going into the air system - i said to the mechanics in Merc servise - they opened the exhaust collector to check for oil leaks from head gasket... they do not understand that air compressor have also "a head gasked"... so you are mechanic.
Hi all…. I have 2016 T680… 1.. coolant spits out while idel on trailer hook or drop .2..alarms pop up saying low coolant but coolant is full also when open reservoir cap gas buildup … in the tank Also noticed engine fan turned on while even temperature even less than 150. Any suggestion,
He didn’t show us where he tested for exhaust gasses in the coolant reservoir. He tested for exhaust gas and there was none so it’s the air compressor that’s the problem
Kenworth thought it was my engine head gasket so paccar put a new motor in mine last month. First load with the new motor it happened again and it was the air compressor head😂😂
