Here's my experience studying for and taking the CompTIA CySA+ CS0-002. I decided to go with Jason Dion's course on Udemy again, considering how successful my experience was using it for my Network+ and Security+.

Passed my exam today. The cysa practice tests exam guide by mike chapple is a must for this exam as a good chunk of the test questions came from this book

Good to know, I just ordered his books on Amazon that came with the extra book of practice test. Excited to get studying next week. I literally just got my Sec+ 2 months ago, my A+ a year ago. Made a career change at 40 from the Automotive field. Been working on the Service desk for a little over 2 years and looking to slingshot my career. The hard work is well worth it and I'm glad that I made the change, just wish I would've made it sooner. Better late than never.

the test taking advice at the end is perfect for all exams. i felt defeated 10 questions into the ccna a couple days ago, scraped it out by a couple of questions, as well, by taking a mental reset after each tough question.

Good video. I just passed my Security+ just barely with a 777. I've been in IT for a hellava long time too. I didn't take it lightly, but I'm definately going to approach the CYSA differently this time. Good advice.

I passed my Sec+ a week ago.....I focused so much on multiple choice I never practiced the PBQs. So when I had only 5 min left I did not have time to do ANY of them..I got enough Multiple choice right and still passed with a 753. So you are correct, take EVERY QUESTION seriously you never know...but also do PBQs and Practice exams Ive learned from that now lol

I’ve done the same thing haha. Always leave them to the end but also don’t forget you have a bunch of PBQs waiting for you over there lol

Caveat - Only let your certifications expire if it's a strategic decision. At some point you will hit where renewing the certs does not make financial sense and does not positively effect your career.

hey! i have my full triad and just started the dion course, was wondering how much the test covers port numbers and such, also what is the best way to study for the PBQs , thanks!

Definitely need to know your ports and protocols as it’s assumed knowledge for the ones that were covered in sec+ and net+. Flash cards are the key to getting them all down. For PBQs just use Jason Dion’s package that has practice exams and PBQs

The other books are already outdated as those were the previous versions of the exams. This one will also be outdated very soon…

In my opinion I would go back to the a+ then the network+ then the security+ then the cysa+ or pentest+. That's what I did. I'm not a total beginner but I wanted a solid foundation, and I think the a+net+sec+ did that.

For me I started as cable tech so I skipped A+ and went straight to Security+ and then Network+ and now CYSA+. But honestly I would start A+ if you are completely new to concepts and terminology then Network+, etc...

Thank you for watching 🙏🏼 Never heard of coursera. But depending on your backround in tech I would either start with the A+ or Net+. Check out my videos I go over my experience and a little bit of what was covered on those

I’d do what everyone else is saying. Absolutely get a foundational cert(s) first! Even if you have some experience, there is a whole lot to know prior to even touching security concepts. It’s why a security role is rarely ever your first job in IT and/or your first cert.

I’ve applied for jobs numerous times over the last 4 years but finally landed one around this time last year. The projects and hands on specific to the CySA+ are all in the course

Whoa, I was going to use FedEx to print out the study notes and their quote was super high!!! Needless to say, I’m just using my own printer. I’ll have Staples bind it for me
