I also obtained the CTT+. In my opinion it is very handy. I think I still have my video from way back if you are interested. I actually did the live / in class CTT+ portion while training learners in preparing them for Network+.
I dont get why so many people say 2 weeks. Its not even possible to actually complete it in 2 weeks with out any prior studying. There is way to much info to just take it in within 2 weeks. Maybe a month but 2 weeks doesn't seem possible
It’s possible. I did it in under 2 weeks. I took 1 week to do my A+ part 1, 1 week for A+ part 2… then 10 days for Network+… and subnetting isn’t as hard. If you know how to divide USB thumb drives you can do most of subnetting. It’s okay to take longer to go through but 2 weeks can be realistic (I did it)
this is crazy.. I having been doing IT for 4 years now and these tests are not do able in 1 week. There is a lot to memorize so a week is crazy. Maybe if you dont work you can get it in a month.
@americantrain git a A+ certification in 2 months. One month each. About to start network+. I do have 7 years experience, though, so it may not be a fair comparison.
Passing in 2 weeks seems daunting to me....any tips to improve studying and retention? its a lot of ground to cover ...i tried the N10 007 and failed, going to try again for the N10 008 sometime in March hopefully, im taking my time this time. I am A+ certified, took that one and passed but still havent made it into the IT industry, seems hard to get a first IT job so Im trying to stack up a couple more certs, wanna try the Sec+ after and start looking for work in IT what u think?. Great vid thanks for sharing.
Def can be - basically, don't expect to have a robust social life for 2 weeks lol I think March is a great time to take the exam! What role are you after in IT? The first job is def always the hardest & Net+ & Sec+ are 2 great certs to get to give yourself a leg up (again, depending on what role you want). There are some negatives rn with hiring freezes, downsizing, and potential recession that may play a factor in that as well. But on the positive side, you're doing the right things & it just means you might need to be a bit more creative on where you look for jobs. Plus, those other things may not even be factors depending on where you're located 😊 As for studying & retention, here are 2 vids (though I will probably update these coming up) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sW3uk6A01w8.html & ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-K0nKxetVEcc.html which I hope help!
@@tahntalus thanks for your comment - for A+ and Net+ I have always used Mike Meyers' TOTAL courses and Jason Dion courses on udemy, along with their practice tests - (catch them on udemy when in sale, its a great investment) and also Mike Meyers books (pdf or hardcover) and Sybex books n10-008 study guide and Professor Messer videos on his RU-vid channel- his study notes are highly recommended. You can also get apps on android for your specific cert exams or use exam compass (free) for practice tests-for labs I recommend dojolab, havent tried it yet but seems its the most affordable one so when you get the PBQ questions you will have an idea of whats coming. I passed the A+ both exams 901 & 902 with flying colors and renewed my cert since then passing the 1001 & 1002 exams but failed the net+ N10-007 with a score of 678 out of 700 ( now for the N 10-008 i believe a score of 720 is required to pass) so im def taking my time before buying the exam voucher to make sure i pass.
@@ITGirlll thank you for your reply - im in FL and planning to shoot for an entry level IT helpdesk or IT support tech position once i get my certs out of the way, and maybe after apply for other jobs once i have some experience and some time in the position. Im just trying to line up a solid repertoire before dipping my feet in the water so I dont have to be boggled down after juggling between studying and a job at the same time, might as well do it now and stack up those certs. I have no prior IT background other than self experimentation and passing the A+ on my own and being 46 doesnt help but I want to change my career and get into the IT industry. Am I too old for tech? Thanks
Well I'm studying for my CompTIA Network+ with reading and studying the whole book the old classic way. But if I take that course that you mentioned in your video then I could pass the exam in 2 weeks? Well that sounds too good to be true.
Depends on your drive. None of these are easy, so let me put that out there first; but if you make it your goal, are solely focused on it & try to understand things as a whole - you can do anything. 2nd - there's no time limit, take as much time as you need. 2 weeks really only works if you're giving 100% of everything you've got towards these. It's not a leisure time activity time frame. However, if you don't try, you'll never know & no matter what, you'll definitely learn some cool stuff in the process 😊
@@ITGirlll i got mine way back in 2006 :) ,Strangly N+ knowlegde assisted us in our network project where we had to configure LLDP for Voice VLAN's, i remembered the first 3 octets of a mac id's the vendor which then auto assigns a vlan on the ports you have assigned to the switch once cofigured probly basic knowledge but hey i remembered 😅 after my brainfog cleared.Keep up the goodwork!!
Depends on what you can spare & how much knowledge you have already. When I did it, it was the pandemic & I had no experience, so I did 8-12hrs a day, but that might not be realistic for your schedule. If you have experience, I’d recommend 2-3hrs a day, if not, I’d try to do more than that if you can. Take as much time as you need though & break a leg! 😊
Awesome question, thanks so much for asking! A couple years ago I did a Q&A vid on this, but basically it really depends on what you want to do & where you want to work. So my advice would be to pick the top 5 companies you’d want to work for & get the certs their current workers have or better. That’ll give you the means to be able to either replace someone or swoop in if they go for an outside hire for a higher position 😊
So did u just study to pass the test or to actually learn what you have to do in a job? I confused cause u seem to have acutally passed it in two weeks. Are you saying I dont have to know all the deep info and just learn what everything means?
I get this question all the time too. In reality it doesn’t matter. Most people get that do the exam quickly do that so they can emphasize the practical application even more. The learning continues after the exam is over and the faster it’s over the faster you get to unincumbered learning. I did the net+ in less than 10 days, the CCNA in 12 days, the JNCIA in 1, the PCNSA in 3 days, and the VCP-NV in 4 days… but with the certs out the way I was able to spend 8 months at 5 hours a day doing practical stuff and working on real equipment in real environments… also with the exams out of the way, I was able to focus on reading other books that don’t cover the exam but DO help with real world (like the packt books) and courses that were just about networking… it also opened my bosses up to shadow the network engineers before I became one… point being do the certs fast then start learning more
