maybe depends on what you already know. im only 1 hour 45 min in but i can tell this video will definetly tell you what you need to learn to pass the test whether you learn it here or elsewhere, he for sure mentions comptia pentest+ several times i know ill enjoy the rest of this video for sure
im asking the same questions , sometimes it is, other times people combine the video course with the mcgraw hill aio pentest + study guide. i think thats the way.
May I ask if you have any relevant work experience? Or not? I'm thinking of taking the beta exam. I wanna try my complete best to try to pass it since it saves so much money, but I don't have field experience. I just have the trifecta.
@@themevrouwdewi Yes I have been working in IT for 16 years with the last 8 focused on cybersecurity. I also have the a+ network+ and security+. I think what got me over the edge was knowing ports protocols and services, basic stuff that helped me narrow the choices down. No matter the experience you still have to be a good test taker imo. I barely passed.
Just passed about an hour after finishing the course yesterday. This was very helpful especially the explanations and introductions to (and during) the hands on parts. Thanks for not assuming we know things, even though we should.
@@desordenpublico No prereqs are REQUIRED, but you 100% need a solid foundation in networking and security fundamentals at a MINIMUM before you take it on. It's an exam intended for people with like 2-4 years of hands on experience, so while it's entirely possible to start from 0 and study enough to pass the exam, your journey will be a bit easier if you start with the fundamentals.
Just passed CySA+ by using Sybex practice tests and Certify Breakfast videos. With this video, and Udemy practice tests, I guarantee I'll pass PenTest+ by June 1. a little over 30 days from now. Thank you very much for posting this video course.
Thank you so much Sir G for providing such free and valuable content.I have not found full course of pentest+. This video deserve millions of views......... Waiting for COMPTIA Cysa+ full course in the future......... Love for Howtonetworks.......😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
why are their so less views, is there noone reslly interested in this? why is it that python courses have 40 million views and course like this only a couple?
Great content and much appreciated! This course keeps getting recommended at the college I attend, Western Governors University.. people say, and I agree, better than Jason Dion's course.
So, the caveat with cybersecurity is that entry-level cybersecurity roles are closer to mid level IT roles. That is to say, unless you get VERY lucky, you're not going to land a cybersecurity job with zero experience. The instances in which people do, it's as a cybersecurity Analyst triaging security alerts. Most folks tend to start in IT and then transition after a few years, though some start in software and/or web development, and then pivot into that side of cyber security. Pentest+ is meant for people with 2-4 years of hands on experience in the cybersecurity field. Pentesting and Red Teaming is not and will never be entry-level. Not what you want to hear, but it's the truth. Though having the Pentest+ may help get your foot in the door for an analyst role, most companies hiring for Cyber/SOC analysts are looking for the CySA+ which is the "sister certification" to pentest+ as it focuses on Defensive security where pentest is offensive. Good luck in your cyber journey!
your literally amazing at explaining this. is it possible we speak on a chat or something ill pay you just to chat and answer few questions i have about pentesting/tech stuff (really just pentesting)
Hi I took the exam it was definitely a challenge I was not sure if I was going to fail or pass the entire time. Somethings to focus on are definitely scripting attack types, know the difference between python, ruby, etc. Make sure you are familiar with hands-on tools like dig, nmap, etc. If you watch this entire series, use TryHackMe Pentest+ path and/or udemy jason dions practice test only it will be enough to pass. @@marianopimentel9911 Edit: Forgot to mentioned I passed first attempt.
Thought I responded it is not showing, but I ended up passing the test. Definitely helpful. Try to watch 30 mins - 1 hour a day. Then spend time using TryHackMe Pentest pathway and/or Jr Pentest pathway. I took Jason Dion's Udemy Pentest practice exams over the course of 2 weeks and one do one test a day. Then one spend a day or two reviewing all answers. Took all test twice then booked exam. @@marianopimentel9911
@@KD-Comments It's interesting that you stated to used Dion, THM, and this video... I just finished Dion's Udemy course and the THM course. Wasn't feeling confident, so I hit up the ole googs, and this video was the first result. Thanks for the affirmation!
I completely disagree with the other persons advice here. A+ first. I have all comptia certs below pentest + taking pentest next. Go in the order that is set up by comptia. There is a lot of cross over and will be easier as you go through the certs. this is why they haved Stacked certs. So when you get your A+ and NEt + you will get a 3 cert that is a stacked cert. when you get sec+ you will get another stack cert of the trifecta. so on and so fourth. Same when you get the CYSA+ and Pen+. Good luck
Dislikes are disabled? I do not trust this. Edit: My reply's to howtonetwork keep disappearing. It read "It says "disabled by owner" and why are you talking in 3rd person?"
@@howtonetworkcom It says "disabled by owner" also why are you talking in the 3rd person? edit: this is the 2nd time I had to post this comment because the first one is not here disappeared.
Including Kali Linux as a tool is misleading, equivalent to stating that the tools' bag is a tool itself, it contains the tools but not a tool to be used, if so then the other "Pen Testing" Distros are tools whom to be mentioned.
