When my parents left Australia to go on holiday to the USA & Canada once in New York they got a taxi somewhere and the taxi driver refused to drop them off at their destination because he said it was not safe for tourists and then proceeded to take them somewhere else. I have a lot of respect for whoever that was.

as a 90's kid that was obsessed with compton in the 90's, after having gone to see it during that time and then returning in late 2013, shits massively calmed down, still some shit popping off in certain parts, but, it's not lit up constantly like it was.
Compton in 2021 had 56+ homicides and tons of people shot. Those are 80s type numbers. It’s dropped to high 30s now but who knows. It’s still dangerous.

@@monte2487 if you compare violence to brazil it is more violent , because here it is still a developing country the USA is a rich country , in the interior of brazil at least in the state where i live and quiet , the problem in brazil is large urban centers , and the focus of violence in brazil and drug trafficking and large robberies by armed groups, mainly in the favelas of brazil which is the central peak of organized crime and drug dealers
@@monte2487 yes, the favelas of rio de janeiro are the largest in Brazil, they have 2 million favelados because it is a large set of several communities that have other names, favela da rocinha and the largest, the Alemão complex, the city of god, among others, there is practically another state with their specific laws, the traffickers organize the communities together with the militias, with the sale of gas, gatonet, electricity and gato too, and even theft within the favelas is not allowed otherwise the person who steals or stealing can be penalized by the favela organizers who are the militias and drug dealers.
Compared to some cities in my country , Compton is a walk in the park. The city is beautiful and I would live there with no problems if I lived in the US.
@@geraldarnoult The homicide rates for both Juarez and Tijuana are both well over 100/100K people, not even counting "disappearances". Los Angeles as a whole city is around 10/100K. I assume Compton is higher but I highly doubt it's anywhere near the Mexican cities.
2 weeks after nipsy hustle was murked, forgot to mention that, driver knew the merch store manager and he let us in, was closed to everyone else. funny thing, the ppl in compton are very intelligent, they know they getting fucked by the govt, but roll with it. interesting conversations were had. much respect to residents of south central LA.
We all think he is brave but he probably driving around in nothing but women’s lingerie so when a scary man approaches his car, he sees that weird shit and gets scared and leaves him the hell alone.

Why do people just hang out in the streets and in park lots all the time? I don’t understand the appeal. Are they all drug dealers? Serious question: as a white male, Ph.D, upper middle class, new Mercedes……what are my chances of being robbed or accosted in a place like this at night. I’ve always assume if you show respect and mind your business, you would be fine. How far off base is that thought?

compared to my little country in Europe I love USA's big and huge roads, big cars, mph instead of kmh, inches instead of cm and mm, big in everything. So many palm trees, I love it.
