But if we talk in terms of file transmitting and receiving, even the PC(client as u said) can send the files and the server( Host as u mentioned) can receive the files. so in this case does the definition of host and client get reversed or still pc is client and server is host?
Whats the difference between a HOST and a SERVER ? I can google this question and get answer, but your examples and explanation are simpler to understand, so please tell me.
Please Help!! i am studing for a cisco certification and i just read this: All computers connected to a network that participate directly in network communication are classified as hosts. Hosts are also called end devices. is that right?
Hey bucky love your channel and vids but i dont think your description on host, client and server is completly accurate: A host in a computer network is just any computer that is connected to a network. A server is a host on wich a program is installed that can send and receive data to clients (or other servers) and a client is mostly an interface between the user and a server.
I usually don't comment, but this kinda bugged me as well. I am reading Computer Networking - A Top Down Approach which refers to clients and servers as types of hosts. "In Internet jargon, all of these devices are called hosts or end systems." "End systems are also referred to as hosts because they host (that is, run) application programs such as a Web browser program, a Web server program, an e-mail client program, or an e-mail server program. Throughout this book we will use the terms hosts and end systems interchangeably; that is, host = end system. Hosts are sometimes further divided into two categories: clients and servers."
I want to point out that clients and servers is more about software then hardware. and that ANY networked device, be it a smartphone, tablet, PC, smart refrigirator, IP Camera etc, etc, may have software acting as a server, and not to let the looney toons legislators start drafting laws preventing individuals from maintaining servers and/or services.
I use firefox and google chrome :P in fact, I got two both of them open right now. I use google chrome for video watching and firefox for everything else.
Chrome is good but it has few annoying security features. (And yes i know that they can be disabled) Even the canary doesn't have the best html5 support for desktop internet clients ;)
What's up with your chrome advertising? I like chrome for mobile devices but firefox is just so powerful and, at least on my uber pc, is butter. Syncing is also way better on firefox, at least in my experience.
