Honestly, the spearmans has to be placed a bit higher than the road for attackers, they have to be standing behind the fence and protected against enemy archers. So the pass 1 block wide works well, with the spearmans both sides. Also it is good to place your archers on the tower far from the entrance, facing the enemies back.

Excellent design. I may tweak it a little to balance my style of gameplay. I like to be able to run around the top layer from a vantage point and control what's going on instead of standing in the main line of defense. I didn't see the Golems or Star caller for this particular purge, I'd like to have seen how they affect the design. To answer your question, yes, the thieves become visible with any damage at all.
Cheers me 🦆. the design is just a principle, dip ya bread, would be interested to see how this design morphs with other players 👍 thought as much about the thieves but wasn't sure. The star caller isn't much of a problem (although i took one to the face lol) as long as you can kill him quickly because the base is quite compact. Golems weren't a massive problem til i got 3 waves in one purge, the base still stood but took a bit of damage.
@@OwDoGaming-kx9jo for the star callers, I did some testing to see if the meteors would hit the coffer. I built a 2X2 and admin killed all the waves allowing star callers to run for a good time. (After 4 level X purges 1 that had 2 starcallers, it seems no) Seeing the small circle around the coffer 1 meteor at the back of your cow catcher could open a direct line to the coffer. If the star caller spawns on the opposite side of the stygian OP it could be more difficult to get him. Same issue with the golems, they don't seem to head down the channel, so depending on where they spawn they could make a beeline to a back wall and cause a lot of problems. My ideas for changes are having a platform the whole way around the outer protection ring that I could run on. This would allow me a vantage point that I could in theory shoot high value targets with the best bow and starmetal arrows. (Especially for golems, let them blow up way away from the base.) Also possibly use closed off 1X1 "rooms" with low level thralls in them to draw enemies agro. Thought being the more I split them up the faster they can be killed. I'll have to work on it though.
The really hard part is finding a suitably open flat spot on a busy server as all prime open flat locations are all taken by other players. I would love to see a purge build on a complex terrain where there is a lot of grade changes. The other major issue is the new foundation glitch through feature introduced since Age of Battle 3 where your character gets hopelessly trapped inside a foundation block. I really hate that feature
Don’t worry about them me 🦆. One gas arrow and a couple of normal ones and he’s out for the count. But try and craft star metal arrow for the boom boy golems pick them off early 👍
@OwDoGaming-kx9jo Had half my base blown up by golems last night lol. I closed the top to make is visually more appealing, but I can't see what going on outside. Those golems bunching up inside is a death sentence!
I have a few questions: Does the minion that stays in the cauldron need to be a specific one or will anyone use it? Regarding the Quiver, how does it work? You put it there, put some different arrows inside it and the archers will use it? Which minion would you prefer to put as your front line to defend? Cimmerian Berserker? I'm an archer who uses magic and I really need help, as I play alone.
You can put any thrall on the siege cauldrons including barkeepers. The quiver is just a marker to put your archers on so they don’t move from that spot (you can do the same by putting them on hold position) they don’t contain any arrows. Cimmerian berserker, Dalinsia Snowhunter are your best 2. I’ve got a right mixed bag in the Dusty Dozen mainly Forgotten Tribes and Heirs of the North. Hope this helps me 🦆
If you’re having trouble getting the purge to spawn. Make sure your coffee isn’t too close to a wall. Give it at least one square of space. Hopefully that helps me 🦆
@@OwDoGaming-kx9jo noo, the purge spawns without problems. The thing it's that usually they "decided to retreat". I did my 1st X level purge with 6 cauldrons, 14 archers n 8 fighters (20 level) n now i'm doing it with 3 cauldrons, 8 archers n 4 fighters (only 1 with 20 level) n sometimes they retreat. I can't understand how it works
To be honest me 🦆. I never have problems with my main and latest base build. But I do with an earlier one, the only real difference is the one that fails is the one with door ways. Quite often they give up mid purge
Purges used to be more dangerous when the game first came out. If you want better purges that actually make you feel nervous, you need to use mods. Vanilla level 10 is still fairly mundane. But nice small base hehe.
😂😂😂 tell about it me 🦆. My first ever old school purge waaaaaay back when ended up being a rock slide. Only had tier 1&2 buildings. Was much of a base left after that 😂

I had the purge spawn right in front of my base and my fighters ran off into the purge camp. It was a total mess but we made it out in one piece. Should I put their guard settings to hold so they won't run out my base?
Yes and no. It’s small footprint means it is harder to hit. But any base that gets hit stays hit. Farming star metal is more about location. The star caller is extremely inaccurate in all the times he’s appeared (quite a few). The base has only been hit twice I think it’s because it has a small footprint. When it did hit the damage was minimal really
Can you still get a purge blacksmith thrall now days because I just started to play again and I need the purge so I can get that thrall but I don’t know how to trigger it now
Unfortunately the thralls from the purges are only archers fighters bearers and my favourite, the barkeeps. To trigger the purges you’ll need a treasure coffer and some some treasure. Have a gander at some of my other videos. Any questions I’m always happy to help me 🦆
That’s the upside of the base. You can forget what’s going off inside. A good bow and star metal arrows. The boom boys won’t get anywhere near… unless you forget about them while doing summat else… like I did 🤣🤣🤣
