START WITH PVE. My clan started with PVE and IM SO GLAD WE DID. I can't stress this enough. There is so much content in this game, and feeling cosntantly stressed out the entire time is NOT going to make it more enjoyable. Play the story, do the dungeons, experience the world. THEN dominate it.
@ van, Good advice overall, The only thing you said that I find funny is to try to find a server where the admins don't play on it. Is this possible, yes but that like saying is it possible to win the lottery, yes but extremely unlikely. Most anyone paying for a server is doing so to play on it and to have full control of it. The trick is to find a server with decent admins that if they do exploit for themselves they keep it low key so not noticeable. Don't be deluded and think there is any admin out there that has never indulged him or herself at one time or another. There are good private servers out there and good admins, but advice to find a server where the admins never play on it is ridiculous.
I rent a server and I do not play - There are people that just like to have a server and play with settings and mods. I used to build a lot before but I would not call that participating in gameplay.
I have a question here, as a noobie... um, I understand the premise of the game and saving spawn points, but how do I ensure my character is officially saved into a server? I died in an engagement, spawned in the desert because I put my bedroll into my inventory after saving a spawn point and forgot to put it down again.... when I spawned back in the desert i decided damn, its late I should get to bed and turned the game off but when I joined that server again I had to remake my character. Is this because I didnt have a house/shelter and bed roll set up?

Thank you, finally someone who explaines all the server stuff ;-) I just started the game on an single player, I am totally new and thought this would be the best way to get to know the game. I play on PS5, so what I do not know is, if you can transfer your character to an online server? Or do you have to start all over, on an online server?
One thing to note: It doesn't matter how official and trustworthy some servers appear at first. Try to ask players or see how things really are before getting invested. Some admins say they follow their discord rules when they don't. They may even change the PVE to be PVP after a couple weeks. Admins will update you on fake consequences when you are literally still being chased by the player that should be "teleported into jail for 20 minutes." Clans were teaming up into giant ones and completely wipeing bases to literally nothing left. They would kill in designated "no kill areas." We all realized they were allowed and had fake rules lol

hey van i love your videos. do you plan to continue your dungeon guides? would you do for the winecellar or even the arena/sinkhole, i find yours more informative and it gives me experience and ideas on what to do, without admin panel of course XD
Thanks for the Video. Wish I would have seen it before going to Odyssey D&D. I recommend nobody to join this server unless you are in a group. Admins are a gang of their own and got to power to kick you out even if you are right.
100% of the fun of Conan Exiles if finding a good server that matches your playstyle. I usually spend several hours researching servers before I invest so many hours into playing. Cheers!

Yes people often grief on official servers. I would recommend playing on a private server with an active admin. But you could get lucky. Some official servers have guilds that kind of control everything and may be a justice league against griefers. Usually they are the griefers though lol.
We've had to leave multiple servers because the rules would constantly change. Started non hostile and changed hostile all we wanted to do was build and explore. But the server masters get crazy power hungry sometimes
I made my own server for the same reason, but it was a pain to keep running. I now play on a very low pop official server and I am having fun again! Cheers!
I always play on the Just Us League servers(PVE). They have been around a long time and have great admins. The ownership has changed recently with some problems but is working well now. They use a lot of mods such as AOC, Pipi, and EEWA and some admins have added great quest lines and dailies to the game.
So I just redownloaded CoEx from the ps+ free dnld, haven't played since the server I played on just went Mia... Crush my soul and spirit for the game... But I'm back💪🏾💯. Thanks for the tips Van! #L4L
Accursed server is great, admins are on point and are very helpful. Weekly events are great as well. Admins will investigate claims of cheating and are very thorough before making a decision.
I honestly think the way to save Conan Exiles, or even Ark for that matter, is to add a Story Mode. Actually give the player something more than just a random open world to explore and build in. Actually have quests and quest givers as well as fully flushed out mercantile system. I love the way the game looks, and how it plays, but it just feels empty and not rewarding for completing things. I also think they should rework a few of placeables, i.e. Catapult, Triangle foundations, & Wall and door heights. Thanks for the video
Yeah, I feel like some aspects of the game are unnecessarily grindy and unrewarding - from someone who has hundreds of hours in the game. I feel like we're expected to repeat the same activity way too many times to drag out pve content and it just gets boring
Captain Bear, my sentiments exactly! I was so fascinated with the world and environment that I bought all but the horse DLC before I was lvl 30(single player PS4) Edit: I got to lvl 60 and had only killed I world boss, an alligator/croc. At this point it didn’t feel like playing anymore. The easiest difficulty says that the player will retain their inventory upon death but that’s not the case. 100s of tools, weapons, armour, building and furnishing materials. Imagine the possibilities, role playing wise. But how can I take advantage of all that when almost everyone creatures wants to kill me. Honestly, the features I’m getting from these so called Thralls(cook. Armorers ) could have as well be part of say an upgraded stove. What’s the point of having lvl 4/named Thralls that only glitch everything you place them on. Why can’t I have more interaction with them besides placing and picking them. I was looking forward to see Thralls with an interesting AI but instead they are just tokens and placeable except for battle ones that only move when in the proximity of an enemy or fight. As a result I’m left with a beautiful(ghost) base. I want thrash with no specific agenda kinda like residents. They’re able to walk everywhere within the base, use all the furniture around, go fetch water in the water well if one is available. Hunters that will hunt to feed them selves and the others plus the pets. Proper merchant system whereby I can browse their inventory. The opportunities are too many to list here. With the announcement of the paid map, I see this game as a cash-hole.
@@Anabriella Play with mods, if you don´t yet, it´s just so much better :) personally I don´t need a story mode, but wouldn´t mind if it was there, as long as the sandbox stays.

You are welcome. Yes you cna make your own or rent one from a server company like G-portal. On most servers, if you log out of the game your body remains. So people can come and loot your stuff. In addition on PvP servers people can break in and steal your stuff. So if you make a good base or play on a PVE server your stuff will reamin intact. Cheers!
It should out the most recent server on the top of the list. But once you find a good one make sure to favorite. Also I think you can sort based on what servers have a character on them and what levle they are....Cheers!

You will not be able to see each other when you start, but you could easily pick a landmark to meet up and make a guild. Once you are in a guild you would be able to see your guild mates on the map. Cheers!
I really do not have an opinion on Battle-eye. I would suggest finding a good private server, then Battle-eye doesnt matter because you have an active admin kicking people off the server who are cheaters. Cheers!
All Official PvP servers are on the same window for building damage. 5:00pm - 11:00pm server time. Outside of those hours building damage is turned off. Cheers!

I started playing official EU PVE server recently. I've builded an outpost up in the North, near Temple of Frost to farm star metal from there. Yesterday I accidently used Map Room and I teleported right next to my outpost to only find out that chunk of my front wall, roof and some foundations are missing. WTF is this, any1 have idea why this happend? Whem entering up north cold snowy area there's a messege telling you that you are entering PvP area do you accept the challenge or not. I choosed NO. My purge meter is full, but purge happens between 18:00-22:00 and I don't log in between those hour till I'll get better armor, weapons and food for thralls. Any1 have an idea why chunk of my outpost were missing?
Could be a number of things. Could be decay? Sometimes other peoples Purges go rogue and attack your stuff as well. That is all I can think of. Cheers!
@@VaniverseGaming I finally faced the purge and it was a wave of Frost Giants, but I have my main base in Noob River and I was waiting for purge there and there's not sucha thing as Frost Giants on Noob River. No1 showed up for the 45 minutes, so I quess the purge was attacking my outpost up North. Anyway, wak4863 says that it has to be star metal meteorites falling down and destryoing my outpost. Could be, I have this outpost on my solo map too and star metal spawns on side of the cliff oor even on edge on top of the cliff where my base begins. Official PVE server mechanics may be different than solo, as it doesn't make any damage to my tier 1 structures on my solo map it may do damage to my tier 3 structures on a PVE server.
@@VaniverseGaming Oh and I do visit the outpost within 7 day decay timer. The damage appears to pop up even if the 24h didn't past since my last visit.
I just picked up a private server for my hubs and I to play on, we had been playing coop for a few days. I find it kind of amazing that the bugs I remember from 2018 are still in the game but didn't experience them when we were playing off our pc server. But anyways, still loads of fun. I've been wondering if there are any server mods that some people think are must have's, etc. I haven't googled yet. =)
There are a few main ones that people use. If you look for the top servers that are modded and put the server name in google, it will tell you what they are running. Cheers!
I just saw some new that official servers are finally getting some admin support. I think they have implements some sever bans on clans and players who are doing this on the server. You may want to look at it on the Conan Exiles forums and see the details. Cheers!
If you want to complete the game do SP. you play on a server if you want to interact with other players and build huge structures for all to see. Cheers!
I wouldn't go on single player. Simply, because time stops when you are not playing. Meaning some things (like taming animals or thralls) take 24 hours of gaming time or more. I'd pick a PvE server. No attacks from other players and time advances. Also, completing the game felt really dissappointing to me. You just got to defeat about half of the games bosses and it ends the game. You are out of the exiled lands and can't go back.

Yeah, official servers can ne down often for a long time after server restarts. Private servers need good admins, or they will stay invalid until they update them when patches come out. I find the PVE-C fits my play style well. Cheers!

When I hosted my own server I used Host Havoc. All the Conan Exiles Official servers are Gportal. I liked Host Havoc, but not sure which is the best. Cheers!

Most of them you can join without issue. Some are locked, so you need to find the server name and put it in google to get to their webpage and sign up. Cheers!
i was playing on Official Server #1092 and their is a clan that cheat, they DDos the server and they can shoot arrows thru the waal and place boms insite the bulding? And it is the only Server I can play on becose of no-ping. They just spoiled the game for me and lots of other people.
Yeah, it does suck that the official servers are not moderated. This is usually how it is though on survival games. Playing on a private server is the way to go. Cheers!

@VaniverseGaming I've already uninstalled the game. It's just too empty. I loved the combat mechanics and weapons. But I was playing single player with about 35 mods and realized after a couple weeks that it's just not fun for me. So I'm on 7 days to die now!

Great server and for those who like friendly people and a relatively lag-free server, that's definitely worth a look into. But regardless thank you van for making the amazing video and thank you for always being my go to for information on the game.

l originally started in an official server. Then l tried a private server, it was was for a while, but he had to many admins that play so l know they cheat. So now l just play single player.

You forgot to mentioned, some servers are bugged as hell.. Specially PvE-C servers. Those are terrible. And some PVE servers has the worst bug of all, that makes your stuff disappear the next day (like being raided on PvP). That happened to me twice in a week. Workers, Wheels, chests, all gone....

@@VaniverseGaming Yeah, I think he just didn't want to run a server and none of us felt like taking some of the duties.I would say he is more of an acquaintance. Which is why I didn't feel like helping him. I wanted to make my own server during this quarantine/lockdown phase of the pandemic but I found an essential job that starts soon.

@@VaniverseGaming thanks man, its been legit super tough i went on redit and got one to join in so far, the toughest part is that 10 people are interested but waiting for others to join, just got talk a few of em into biting the bullet and taking a chance for others, and i know i could populate for sure if i offered admin and clan leader positions, but i feel that would ruin the fluidity the RP ya know. iv been thinking about like how to market the server and if im still having trouble in 2 weeks then im gonna try to make it based on the three kingdoms period from Romance of the Three Kingdoms, im only building in Khitan and yamatai anyways so it would just make the whole server like that basically, but if i do that it would take a lot of armors and building styles off the table i like the idea of greek hoppolites going to war with samurai.
This game is kinda dead on Xbox and I hardly see other players on the servers. Thankfully, my girlfriend plays the CO-OP mode with me so it works out. We just can't wander too far from each other.
Most survival games have a larger population of people that want to screw you over than help you. However there are really good communities and servers with large clans that are the "police" of the server as well. You just have to find a server that works for you. Cheers!
