Conan Exiles Tutorial - Round Towers with External Spiral Stairs - Part 3 

Fantastic video, I am into my second month of Conan Exiles, all kinds of people have posted videos in GOD MODE, flying over, endless materials, sped up music. Fantastic to see first person-slob just trying to build a FREAKING STAIRCASE. Thank you for all your tips and play by play. Was hugely helpful overcoming some frustrations.

6 years later and most of this tutorial is still instructional and helpful! Thank you for this, and I am going to have to incorporate some of these design features into my next tower!

I love this tower design, and I intend to use it. I will add more floors and a small wall around the entrance, but I think it's marvellous.

I've done a version of this tower three times. All three look different from each other and from this. Close enough to see where I received inspiration, but different nonetheless. One of the things I have done differently in all three of mine has been to add interior walls in lieu of the pillars. I like the aesthetics of it. Plus, it gives me an area for crafting/storage that is separated from the 'living' space(s). Really like this build and the tutorial. Thanks, man.

Great video and great suggestions. Just to add, most outer domes, half domes, towers and other sorts of structures have a functional purpose first, then esthetics.

thoroughly enjoyed this video series. one of the things I do with stairs [since they don't have angled fencing] is I use a wall section first then put the stairs in the alcove created to provide a kind of fencing and can always put a fence on top as well.

Suggestion ... put up the wedged ceiling attached to the wall in order to make your first stair snap easier. Worked a lot better when I did that in my stronghold build.

Love the design bro. Great work. Going to try to use both to get the outside balconies for Archers as well as the inside stairs for the multiple levels. But it might be a while, I'm only 4 days into the game. lol.

I am going to make a tower based upon this design. I definitely like the external staircase design, but I would like more floors on the inside. So, I will add those in and possibly some interior walls under the stairs, leaving doors to be able to get inside. That space can then be used for crafting tables, storage, etc.Some of the DLC styles have stairs with actual working rails, so I might use one of those styles. I like to mix 'n' match styles and a few come to mind that might look nice together.

Great video, mate! Just want to comment quickly on the problem with the stairs leading onto the roof and your character's head getting stuck on the doorframe: The problem is solvable. Simply change the doorway entrance to one tile before what he did in the video. The doorway should be on top of a triangle wedge tile. This way you can have a staircase going sideways onto the roof. It will snap from the wedge tile onto a square ceiling tile on the roof. Imagine continuing the original exterior staircase of the tower in the video, but inside the tower walls.

Please make a video of how to make the round tower with 2 internal circles of triangles and the 4 block of square foundations (like in your 1st video) with an external staircase like in this video. That would be great. Videos are really great. Thanks for all the help.

well, aside from looking better an exterior staircase isn't a great choice for a tower. It's a lot easier to defend a tower without external stairs than it is one with internal stairs. As long as this is inside the curtain wall I don't see a huge issue with it, and you're right. It does look better.

Great guide. I tried building a huge round castle with multiple towers, but got stuck because I couldn't construct multi-level walls next to each other if they were connecting at an angle. Is there any way to fix this or is it an inherent problem with the game?

You can use an inverted sloped roof piece like the gable one you mentioned... then put a fense on that.

This is great because as sorcerer you lose half your stamina so climbing is a pain so obviously stairs help alot, being outside you have more room, now can you make a video to support lightning storm buff.😊

Awesome video! I’m plan on doing something similar to this. I hope you still operate and haven’t abandoned this channel. But I have a couple of questions. 1) how did you build the roof part? I plan on putting a throne so my character can over look the land. 2) I’m on a PvE server so PvP is no issues this is more aesthetic reasoning. From the basic circle you made before finalizing the tower how many foundations away would you need to comfortably fit the work shops the work shops, Tier 3 Wheel of Pain and a temple devoted to your god and finally this tower behind a wall? So when players stumbled upon your tower they see this tower but a wall. BUT, behind said wall they see all the workshops and this imposing tower. Basically they see this tower but all the work shops are behind a wall.

When you have snapping issues.. try selecting another piece and then reselect the piece you want to place. That usually does it.

I did do a similar floor pattern for a riverside garden/patio but with 2 types of Legos,except trade the square Legos for triangle pieces . I used the regular stone to make sun patterns,& the Roman(I forget the in game name for the race)blue & white Legos from the DLC for the "sky/clouds" . Came out beautiful,was most proud of that keep & patio.

So i would like to make the tower a little bigger and i seem to mess up somewhere using your method(which i really enjoy using) have you done a video where you make bigger towers with several floors

Not a big fan of the "blank" balcony with no entry. Maybe that side can be enlarged so you can drop steps down to it. That would also create a decent secondary area within the tower.

Okay I'm going to be brutally honest. I can't think of a single reason why to build this other then the fact that it looks cool. Building this takes up a massive amounts of resources and only thing it does is make it look intimidating. Most medieval keeps that where designed like this had multiple floors. You can't add more floors in to this design; I know I tried. I love the design and if you can figure out a way to add more floors in to mix then please do update video. Other wise I plan on just reducing it down to one level with access to the roof as a look out. Yes I did build the whole thing just in case you're wondering.

Awesome vid, but I noticed something you might clarify... The second balcony is not aligned with the stairs and there is no access to it like with the one below; is it just for looks?

Hi, I love these videos they are the most well done of any on t he net. However I would like to make one and fit the wheel of pain or greater wheel of pain in so I would need to make it much bigger. However the amount of resources etc may be to great. Will it work no matter what size I make it if I just keep the floor plan the same but just increase the initial circle inside the stairs/wall? If you see this and could shoot an answer ASAP I would truly appreciate it as our clan is kind of in a hurry. Thanks

seems in full release, the stairs at the top of the tower dont work because there isnt room to fit through the doorway, even crouched

Started playing again after 4 weeks and tried to build this tower.... but the square ceiling pieces won't snap under the stairs anymore?! I built it the exact same way you did so I dunno what I'm doing wrong if anything...

Can you just build the tower then build the external staircase on it after?

Followed this build, then I realized the 2nd balcony has no access and you have to duck to get through the doorway to the roof. The tower in the very beginning is not the one presented at the end. 6/10
