Why can't he be both?

I don't agree. His acting skills were sub-zero in that period(he didn't improve much over the years though). He portrayed Conan only through muscles, but character(that I know from Howard comics) is more complex than that. Script didn't bother revealing other Conan traits, but for my taste Conan is far more than pile of muscles performed by Arnold. He did not make effort to put few more dimensions in character. I don't think he readed any Conan comic in given time to better understand Conan nature.And it is very visible in movie.

@@aleksandarcvetkovic5436 did you see the first one? its better scripted and it has depth. i love the second though because as a child thats the one i saw. and i think if you read conan books, comics etc. you will always have your own personal interpretation of it. i didnt, as a kid, so i was mind blown by the whole movie and him being Conan. BUT i get what you are saying, and i agree. Arnold was never an amazing actor, cmon now!

@@khlothostonney5760 I don't stick to "canon" Conan(Howard, Thomas, Smith) as something that must be pasted on movie word by word. Mixture of barbarism and magic is something I like in Conan. That atmosphere is well created in both movies. Only thing that could be much better done is main character. On his face I can see he doesn't have a clue what is movie about. Just reading text from the script, and chance to show muscles. That bothers me the most. Other is fine.

Well, Crom did grant Conan his revenge. So a little respect is the least Conan could give to him.

But throughout all of the hardship and battle Conan has endured, he continues to survive, so he must have earned Crom's respect.

Well he is not called destroyer for the fun of it.

He probably knows every sword-school technique in the Hyborean world.

One of the criticisms some people have about Conan as a character is how easy he has it. He can pretty much outmatch anyone in hand to hand combat, doesn't matter if it is with sword, spear, axe, rock or fists. His whole life is kind of a cheat code.

@@robwalsh9843 Well he was molded by a brutal life of starting out as a child slave working hard labor when his parents were killed and then becoming a gladiator in death matches . It all seems easy now because his experience and surviving all that have taught him well.

One of the themes that I think Howard tried to instill in the original Conan books was how Conan’s fighting, and by extension his people’s fighting style, was different from that of more civilized fighters. The Cimmerians lived in the wilderness and were effectively surrounded by enemies, being 0:37 raided by rival barbarian factions such as the Picts, Aesir and the Vanir, and probably even other Cimmerian tribes, and doing their own share of raiding in return. They even held their own against better armed and well trained soldiers from civilized nations, even destroying an Aquilonian outpost at Venarium. What access to metal they had was probably limited by their ability to mine or trade for it, so they probably had to steal some weapons from their enemies or else rely on what they could make from what materials they had on had, which would predominantly have been wood, stone, and animal parts. So they had to be strong - to be weak in such an environment meant you were likely going to die. Civilized men, on the other hand, for the most part live behind walled settlements and only go out to either hunt for food, gather resources or wage war against their enemies. They don’t live with the constant danger of being in a place where anything can kill you. You almost have to be an animal yourself to survive in such conditions. That is why Conan is constantly described as having animal-like senses and reflexes that seem superior to other men in the books, cuz if he didn’t he wouldn’t have survived in his forest homeland. Also, half the time he’s butt naked, so he’s not always weighed down with metal armor like some of his human opponents

Yea like the lotr trash whatever the hell that kiddy garbage was trying to be ill never know absolute useless films the type where you can go get snacks extra bathroom trips come back an hour later and not have missed a damned thing 😂😂😂😂 this film and willow are the best of the genre and the only ones worth watching. And Queen Taramis ain't shit for throwing them in the meat grinder, knowing they're inept. Conan mowed through like 20 guys before she finally gave the signal to withdraw.

I like Destroyer better, that little dAbo girl is adorable. And the Queen made sure to tell Mumbasa, the girl must return a virgin, ha ha.

What books... I would like to dive on those stories but where i live iam the only nerd interested un this kind o f things

@@carpediem9750 there are like atleast 6 i know of i used read them back in the day written by the orginal creator of conan there are alot more books than movies you can just look them up on google they should be fairly cheap id say about 6 to 12 bucks probaly i read like four of em need read some more myself
