Outlandish was a musical group composed of Isam Bachiri (of Moroccan descent), Lenny Martinez (from Honduras), and Waqaz Quadri (from Pakistan). Their diverse cultural backgrounds infused their music with Moroccan, Arab-Pakistani, and Latin influences, often reflected in their autobiographical lyrics.
In 2003, Outlandish achieved significant success with their hit single "Aïcha," which topped the Dutch Top 40 for two weeks and also reached number one in Germany. The song, an English cover of Algerian singer Khaled's original, gained widespread popularity in Asia, particularly in South Korea. In 2005, they released "Try not to Cry," featuring Sami Yusuf, who gained international recognition through this collaboration.
The group released six albums: Outland's Official (2000), Bread and Barrels of Water (2003), Beats, Rhymes & Life (2004), Closer Than Veins (2005), Sound of a Rebel (2009), and their final album Warrior//Worrier (2012). On Closer Than Veins, they collaborated with Dutch rapper Salah Edin.
Outlandish disbanded in 2017.
