This has nothing to do with California and this has everything to do with the fact that instead of being a multi-international company Like they used to be they instead focused on Western trends because those were the only people that could fight Microsoft's Western division at the time they dominated. At this point Nintendo is way more of a international multicultural company than Sony is which is why they've been making money hand over fist.

Honestly, it was also a game that was full of constant contradictions, especially because which is another contradition is Sony really wanted to push the story in its goddamn multiplayer game. So a great example of the contradiction is that all of the trailers and marketing show all the different hero characters as being part of like a guardians of the Galaxy type crew who are all working together and are familiar with each other. Gameplay is about these same heroes. All trying to shoot and kill each other. By comparison, every single OverWatch video showed the heroes all fighting each other, which is why when you do that in the game, it completely makes sense. Both narratively and gameplay. Think that was the problem with this game is it seems like each individual component in this game could have worked but for every good idea they had, they came up with another idea that they had that basically contradicts the previous good idea. Which is why everything just smells like everyone's cooking on the same floor.

So first of all, Apex Legends has a transgender character and papermine a thousand-Year door as a major trans character and they literally made money and over fist. Keep your identity politics out of this. The game failed because of the fact that is in an overcrowded genre and overall was poorly designed as itself as a game. Fucking sick and tired of you people as someone who used to make video games where people are being overworked to death in the industry and consumers are being microtransactioned out of the ass and there's giant abuse scandals both in the fan culture and in the production studios themselves. This may come as a shock to you, but most gamers couldn't give a toss about what you think woke means. Most gamers just want enjoyable games that don't take our time and money for granted, especially one that costs $40 in a part of the market dominated by free to play titles.

Honestly, all the people complaining about so-called wokeness in video games is part of the reason why we can't have nice things in fucking gaming, especially from other companies. Games are about the fucking gameplay. Let's focus on that or even better. Let's try to get the developers that we all like better working terms and conditions so that they can make games that we love instead of talking about pronouns all day and then wondering why studios keep shutting down when you assholes keep buying the same generic microtransactions from the studio sucking souls out of people's asses over and over again. This game wasn't made for DEI fans, it was made for Overwatch 2 players. Except Sony apparently somehow forgot that Overwatch 2 already exists. The characters are a joke pushed by a corporate focus group that’s completely out of touch with reality. I played Overwatch casually for a short period, and never knew Soldier 76 was supposed to be gay, because it’s irrelevant within the framework of the game (as it would be in real life).
