The last flight I took by Concorde was on G-BOAF in February 2000 from JFK to LHR. Sadly the aircraft was almost empty with just 18 passengers. I travelled by Concorde between London & New York a number of times in the 90's, and even so, every time you were called to board the hairs on the back of your neck would rise with excitement. I truly feel blessed that I have been there, done that, and got the T-Shirt with regard to supersonic flight.
I agree - we are the fortunate few that have been on “ Rocket “ 001/002 Nothing compares to Concorde - its the only aircraft from building excitement & smiles to bubbly libations $£ & canapés in the lounge and the “ Hair “ really stood up - when the glass Concorde etched doors opened , and it was time to leisurely board Concorde. ppl smiled back - electricity flowed. Was my last flight from IAD to LHR in “93” ! Great times - never to be repeated. I loved the cockpit visits and sterling silver tie taks , key chains , money clips, to navy blue Conally leather luggage tags - handed out at end of the flight. And our FA gave us a bottle Veuve Cliquot to take with us ( she snuck it to us) - but it was a charter to DTW. Bernadette Forest - she was wonderful - still member her fondly. I’m pretty lucky to have flown on “ Rocket “ 4 times Each time was special ! ! !
I remember that day took my 5 year old son out of school to watch this the wet weather didn’t dampen the atmosphere fabulous aeroplane my son now 22 visits af all the time and the one in Manchester thank you for sharing video
I was angry about that, and wrote letter's to local News paper's BUT--a world recession began in 2008, and lasted for 5 yrs. So, i do know their were many other MORE pressing issues to deal with, and lttle money to spare.
After that we just went back to subsonic, its a great loss, truly is. hopefully within this decade we'll see another supersonic airliner, even if it only fits about 100 people or less
I saw this last flight take off from Heathrow. I spent untold hours as a kid looking out for it in the sky. Everything must change, but at this moment I miss the old planes, miss the Queens Building and I miss Concorde.
