Concorde's return to Filton 

I was there, at the end of the runway, when it landed. Engineers who had spent their working lives on Concorde, the most beautiful of aircraft, were in tears. The video doesn't show - before they shut the engines down, it taxied back to to the end of the runway to say farewell to the crowds of BAe and R-R engineers. Concorde was like Santa Claus, in that people always said "There's Concorde", not "There's *a* Concorde" - somehow seeing two at once was a little creepy. Very special aeroplane.

I flew from Bahrain to London in 1980 on the Concorde with British Airways and it was the best money I’ve spent flying.The speed on takeoff and landing at the angles was great and when to moved up to the breaking of the sound barrier it was excellent.I was invited up to the cockpit saw the curve or earth and darkness above and then the captain signed my certificate to say I was upfront.The device was amazing.Sadly missing this great plane as we will never see it again. Well done to everyone who built and flew the Concorde. Thank you

A sad sad sight. No need for it to end this way. It doesn't seem like 13 years since we last saw this bird in the skies. Hopefully we will see her again soon!

I worked at Bristol Cars from 1979 to '85 and whenever I knew that Concorde was coming home, l'd down tools and stand atop one of the air-raid shelters by the Brab Hangar and watch her come in. I'm not ashamed to say that this brought a tear to my eye...

Simply the most majestic plane i have Ever seen !

I drove up to Heathrow to see the last international Concorde retirement flight (to Barbados) by that time they didn't care about take-off noise and she literally blew a hole in the clouds to reveal a sky blew circle! sadly missed! I can see why she was so special to the people of Bristol. Thanks for sharing; the music is very apt!

She brought beauty and grace to skies around the world . Never will there ever be as beautiful a Lady . Rest in peace Concorde , you are sorely missed .

15 years ago, to the hour as I type this, was there to see her final landing.

Back in the late 1980's I flew into London. The Concorde was in the same flight path ahead of us. As we neared London, the Concorde made a turn into the flight path to Heathrow. I had a window seat and watched in awe seeing her fly over central London. Years later from 2003 to 2009 I had a job in London. As I lived near Hyde Park, I often walked through the park and looking up could see and hear the Concorde on it's path into Heathrow. Never to be forgotten experiences.

Watching the ogival wing unload is just exceptionally unique.

And yet there was a Concorde hidden away in a hanger at filton so Concorde really never left filton when you think about it

Sad to see that people are going to build houses on the runway now they are throwing precious history down a forgotten bin

In my opinion, there has not been a more beautiful plane in the history of our civilization. Sadness only reminds me of the existence of this most beautiful structure. It is a pity that so long after losing the line, there is no other, perhaps more beautiful, plane. Unnecessary wars in the world cost us a lot of money. For this money, our civilization could build many such airplanes, which would improve communication in the world. I personally dream about it and believe that my dream will come true. I fly a lot on airplanes and for me that would be a big improvement. Maybe it will come true?

We all have to thank our “friends” in Washington for working tirelessly in cahoots with the US aviation industry, to exert their insidious influence around the world to ensure that this spectacular aeroplane was never going to be a commercial success. Kudos indeed that it’s primary manufacturer went on to become AIRBUS which, as we know is more than enough competition to (what is left of …) American aeroplane manufacturing. Rest assured that if they’d sold 100 of them early on, they would still be making them as version 2 or 3 …..mmmm😎. Don’t get me started on the part the yanks played in killing off the VC10… along with a bunch of corrupt BOAC executives.

I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS FILM ALL OVER YOU TUBE, WHERE SHE FLIES OVER THE SUSPENSION BRIDGE. GLAD TO FIND IT AT LAST, AND NO VIEWING OBSTRUCTIONS NEAR GROUND LEVEL --BUT, WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THE QUALITY OF THIS ''PROFESSIONAL'' FILM? IT SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN LOOKED AFTER ABOUT AS MUCH AS CONCORDE ITSELF --NOT AT ALL. GREAT AND SUITABLE MUSIC, VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE FILM DETERIORATION. HOPEFULLY, IT COULD BE RESTORED PROFESSIONALLY.

I'd like to add my pennyworth, as to why Concorde was grounded, and will never fly again. Firstly, both country's signed a contract at the beginning, that, should either side decide to quit the project, or, at any time during Concordes Service, if one side (for whatever reason) decided to end their Concordes Service,---the other would NOT, continue alone. The TV documentary ,from about 3 years ago, was very condemning of the French stating, that there were several incidents discovered, where the French servicing of their Concordes, was very lax, considering the importance, of extremely tight quality control requirements , for such transport. They also claimed, that certain part's from the Landing gear machinery, belonging to the crashed Concorde, had been left behind, after it's last service.There were other claims, which are revealed by other's, on this page. The French were very reluctant to follow the British, when they made necessary improvements to THEIR Planes. Companies responsible for producing the very high-Tech servicing parts , for these planes, went out of business. Given the link between Concordes Engines, and the Vulcan Bomber engines, this was the same reason the Vulcan Bomber was grounded for good; most likely, one and the same supplier.. ALL CONCORDE ENGINES, are now 'Scrap metal'. I read that they had to be constantly started and run, at certain temperatures, for quite some time, every few days. The reason is very High Tech, apparently, and I do not claim to know why this is. Lastly---ALL. Concorde Flying Permits, were destroyed. So, for those expecting / wishing ,for Concordes return, Should now forget it.

A sad end to a brilliant airplane. Maybe somewhat ahead of its time - must remember too the very sad loss of life caused...

I think we will see the like of her kind again but not until about 2050.

The French grounded it, and blamed that on a piece of metal from and American aircraft. Partly true, but it was only 10% of the reason. Read on Utube the interview with John Hutchinson about the real reasons she crashed. French cock up all round!
