The Concordia Choir of Moorhead Minnesota singing Moses Hogan's beautiful setting of "My Soul's Been Anchored in the Lord." Learn more about music at Concordia: www.concordiac...
So true- I hate when choirs hold music. It feels like such an excuse because the musicianship and true performing joy that happens with memorized music is unparallelled.
My soul was anchored and still is being anchored in the Lord every day and will never stop as long as I live and pray for all those who need prayer, help, food, and the art of listening without interruption - then add "let's pray together".
This is beyond amazing. The blend, the dynamics, the style n approach are all right on point. However, every facial expression is zombie like. All this gorgeous sound and no conviction whatsoever.
Everyone's a critic. Do not pay heed to the critics. You have a beautiful choir. And to all the haters. If they didn't enjoy singing they would be up there doing so.
Damn. Calm down. No chior is perfect and id like to see some more movement. The singing is great. But idk how you sing a soul song and just stand still
Outstanding rendition of this Moses Hogan classic. The clarity of the diction and the involvement and passion of the singers make these notes jump off the page. Tremendous performance by a top-notch college choir!
I don't even think God himself could pull their attention from that director.! This was so clean and crisp. This man literally controlled this choir with his 2 hands....absolutely amazing and spendid. Does it take away a pinch from the soul essence of the piece...slightly....but for this predominantly white choir, this has been AMAZING!
Carol Coles Perfection in the most wonderful rendition I have heard in years. We have all types of groups in this day and age. But this type is perfect precision and not easy to do at all - but this is so outstanding that nothing can describe this perfection. Blessings to Concordia Choir..
The smallest tenor in the back row in our right is about to dance he's having so much fun. We sang this as a encore after a Sunday afternoon concert at our church years ago. We had the voices to pull it off. It was a complete blast. I think we sang it a little quicker than this.
We as humans as the world stands today, can only pray, forgive, and look up to our God and as for understanding and forgiveness, because our time is very short as the world stands today. Blessings to one and all, Caro Coles, Author
Let's just take a moment to acknowledge that Dr Clausen is just the most oustanding conductor! 30 years I've been conducting choirs and could only dream of this level of technical control and skill. Awesome choral sound also.
I saw this live and it was even more amazing. It's hard to find a recording that does the Concordia Choir justice. One has to see them live to get the full experience. (this is about 90% of the way there)
Not gonna lie, when I clicked the video and saw one person of color in the entire choir and they were singing a Moses hogan piece I was a little skeptical. That just blew my mind. I love this!
My 9th and 10th grade choir, and chamber choir is singing this in the spring with our orchestra accompaniment and it is going to sound so powerful with soprano 1 &2 alto tenor and bases. We have so much talent in our class it is very exciting
literally only here bc my choir (who also won the madrigal festival this year) sang this as one of their main pieces for a bunch of competitions they did and i’ve absolutely fallen in love with it
I'm glad the you found the right place for you Patrick. It is always hard to hear something harsh about your beloved alma mater...but then no place or no person is perfect. I appreciate your response.
Okay, the six dislikes were either poor aim or haters. While I wish Concordia had at least 1 real black gospel singer in each of its 8 sections to really put the extra kick into it, this performance was technically flawless and still very passionate and deep.
I really hope I can meet René Clausen again in the future. He was the conductor for my Honors Choir last year and he was amazing. I admire him endlessly and hope I can tell him that in the future.
my high school woman's choir is singing this song for a concert I love this we are just now starting to learn the notes it's going to be so awesome e when we are ready!! xD
