Yeah this was a dangerous situation. That could have easily thrown them down onto the wet concrete and then the machine could have been buffing them...
I think there actually is, there is most likely a lanyard or kill switch that stops the machine when you let go, and they probably disabled it or bypassed it somehow. So, the training would be to not let it happen by using the installed safety features.
@jeremyspecce there is a switch that is supposed to release when your hands are taken off the handles. Unfortunately, it isn't uncommon for guys to tape the switch down..
@GREEN WELLNESS I work in construction business and I propably earn even less than them since I just started. You can give me that 50$ and free lunch if it bothers you so much. Moron...
Japanese original sushi is far from other countries so I can’t give any useful information. But all I want to say is that we don’t use seaweed to make sushi with Ebi. Google “nigiri”. That’ll be what Japanese think of when you say “sushi”. Sorry if I’d bother you.
I worked in the gas industry. The workers would clear debris out of a newly installed pipe by shooting a "pig" through it. It's a chunk of foam that you push through with compressed air. I watched them intentionally launch it 40 yards across the road. Fun times.
@@CINTERPOL dude we have fuckin 18 year old kids running around our job sites making like 60-80 a year, and all they do is look at checklists on Ipads. I swear I should've never gone into flooring, and just done what they're doing
salted popcorn Agreed. When things go wrong in construction people could very easily lose their lives. That's why there are so many safety rules and regulations and it should be taken seriously. Still a funny video though.
salted popcorn Yeah, REAL construction workers such as yourself have tougher skin and can laugh about stuff like this. I've worked in the field as well as various management positions in commercial construction, and I would have been the first one to respond to any of the contractors having an issue such as this. The key is not to panic, causing someone to get seriously injured.
I once watched one of these fall off the third story of an unfinished building, still spinning away. We used to call them "Italian helicopters". The safety switch is always the first thing to go wrong, and the easiest thing to hotwire.
@@alilweeb7684 That's not really the point, he's condescendingly counting all the people who are paying attention to the safety hazard, which is what they should have been doing. When a safety hazard occurs ALL personnel on site should give it their full attention and be prepared to take action. THEY were doing their job correctly, the office idiots talking about them "not working" and throwing around the idea of firing them are the only ones not doing what they should be doing.
Pretty funny but I don't think the guys watching realize how dangerous those things can be. I wouldn't have blamed any of those construction workers if they had said "fuck it" and let it run out of gas.
At those wages, no, I wouldn't be risking injury either. Saying "I'm not paid enough to care" isn't nihilism when you can't afford hospital bills. It's financial _pragmatism/survival._
Something kind of annoying about office drones making fun of construction workers with an out of control machine they wouldn't know how to stop themselves.
@@ironman10181 Did you read the description? He says they were great guys and did a magnificent job with the construction. It seems like it was all in good fun to me.
There's something wonderful about an old YT vid, that likely never had any intention of being viewed 11 times, let alone 11 million, and is just a slice of these peoples' lives, that they have graciously (and mostly unwittingly) shared with humanity, forever. Thanks for the laugh; halfway in I was laughing so hard I could barely see the rest though the tears. It was like the MST3K of construction work.
I came back to this today, probably saw this when i was still in hs. all the best videos from forever ago i put into my favorites so i can comment on them like a time capsule, its great.
@Alex Smith funny how you talk about people being PC and complaining but the only one i see complaining here is you that someone is having fun watching them stop the machine. And how dare they choose a different career choice! not on my watch! Besides, no one even got hurt and im sure even the workers had a laugh about it later
I don't know what it is about certain people's laughter but when I hear someone wheezing while they laugh I cannot help but start hysterically laughing with them! Holy shit I was almost in tears because of this guy.
Mathieu Lafreniere use those great benefits and get yourself some help, randomly aggressively replying to strangers on the Internet is pretty weird bro
Am a concrete worker myself. This is funny as hell to me. Specially since no one got hurt. BUT not to address the fact that this is NOT a concrete buffer but actually a Walk-Behind Trowel machine would be a disservice to my trade. These men are still finishing the concrete. It hasn’t fully set. The trowel helps with that. Buffers don’t come into play until afterwards. Still funny :)
@ I work in an office. There are plenty of office workers who are incompetent and never paid attention in school. You're probably just a little pansy who has never done anything labor related in their life.
"You dumbasses." As funny as it is watching these guys fail to stop the machine I would put money down on the people filming and most of the comments wouldn't be able to do it any better. Including me.
the number of people in the comment section getting honestly butthurt over these guys comments during the event is just a bit more ridiculous than a whole team of construction workers trying to stop a concrete buffer.
+thatbamadude dudes chill the fuck out. Not everyone knows the technical terms for every piece of machinery. it was an honest mistake and what's wrong with having a little laugh?
Chillax. Nobody cares if a non-construction worker misidentifies a piece of equipment. The commentating guys like their new facility, and claim to have bought some of the crew lunch after that. If they were to go down there to "help" they would be doing so outside the purview of L&I, and the foreman would have to chase them off.
This is my ultimate, all time favorite video. Whether being sad, exhausted, happy, excited or any other condition - ending up here has always left me stand, sit or lie down, laughing the hell out of my lungs. The camera man‘s pure joy, the unbelievable situation itself and the dry sense of humor coming from the amateur commentator in the back makes it just perfect to me.
Yeah, they put water on there so it would slide, then they throw the tarp on there to either jam it up or give them something to grab onto without hurting them.
The guy outside of the forms is the inspector. He observes all operations and records them in his field book. His entry for this event is; Contractors finishing crew prepares all equipment needed for concrete finishing. His project manager has no idea of the actual activity. Just the facts.
11 years later, comes onto my feed. These guys are now telling their children, The Remember When Story, of The Run Away Concrete Buffer. And they have video evidence to back it up. They may know look at the structure built onto that concrete and start laughing because they lived the story and others around them look at them like they are crazy.
