Between the builders and the concrete crew they sure did a great job!! It's so refreshing to see people that work together as a team and got their s--t together!! You got one quality looking building Squatch!!
“A RED SHED Production” WOW! Those fellows made it look easy, concrete finish looks out of this world! Some things turn out better than other just by luck. I think you hit a home run with the Red Shed, the placement on the property, the size, the color and the way it is situated. Not to say you did have a whole lot of thought and work involved but the stars also lined up for you. Well worth the long, long wait!
The amount of skill involved to finish concrete is often overlooked because most people only see the dirty stinking guy at the gas station getting a monster and a slice of pizza, but the guys who do concrete are very skilled.
The fact is construction is a VERY demanding task... we can see it when it's not done properly. I admire people doing manual labor no matter what, but construction is one of those activities we should respect even more because we LIVE inside things these people create.
I have wheel barrowed cement for a few slab pours. The skill of the guys in charge really do effect the quality of the finished slab. Leveling and timing for the finish is critical. Hats of to that crew.
Finishing concrete is an art. Those guys made it look easy. They did great work. I’m soooo happy for you Toby. Your building is progressing very well. It’s beautiful. Very enjoyable video thanks.
Massive respect to the Sunderland crew Watching them pour and finish concrete was like watching you rebuild a machine...... pro's always make it look easy Looking good, Squatch, just like the "Red Shed Productions" logo 👍
Fantastic video Toby. I've worked in the construction industry for the last 16 years. I drove all types of trucks, operated all types of equipment and worked with concrete. It's an art all of It's own. And these guys done one heck of a job! Cheers
Your contractor and Sunderman Concrete made probably the best work on the storage shed. Very professional approach and I can tell from the crew that worked they know exactly what they are doing. Usually pouring concrete never is a easy job and there are million things that can go wrong. I can tell from your voice your very happy with the end result.
How exciting and fulfilling this has to be. Correctly you did a tremendous job of preparing the space for this barn to be built and the quality of it shows. You have been fortunate to get what is obviously quality construction companies to do the work. I always enjoy seeing projects like this where the time and effort is put in to ensure a well built building, tool, equipment and etc is the result. This is why I appreciate and enjoy your videos and attitude to any project you take on.
Excellent, Squatch. Great to see good skilled workers at their craft and very good compliment you gave them at the end, one tradesman to another. Happy for you and Sr, the new building is coming along great.
Looks really good. I put up a 24x30 shop in my backyard last summer. It had a steel frame. I hired the shell done and spent the whole summer finishing out the inside. I’ve waited 30 years for it and it has definitely become my version of the man cave.
I have noticed on pours "up north" that chairs are not used on the re bar to insure that placement is up in the mud properly as opposed to being flat on the ground. I did see them pull up on it in places but not completely. Looking nice!
@@williamschmiedel6890 yes, you have to drive the truck over sometimes but, then you pick it up and put a chair in place. Did you see any chute extensions in use? I did see them pull it up a few times but study the video. I have trouble understanding why any body would want to defend some poor workmanship. The proof will be in the longevity ... Let's watch for checks and cracks.
Concrete waits for no man. I've done a lot of building (not a contractor but often been told I should be) and the concrete is ALWAYS the most tense part of the job. These guys had it together.
WOW Im so jealous!!! A shop to make any man drool. Sunderman Concrete did fantastic work!!! when its finished you will be SO Happy! And what a great place to store your collection and work in! GREAT job Squatch!!!
I WISH i had those guy's. I had a jerk that made a first-class mess of a pad for my 24X24 garage which i had later moved from another property, when the pad was finished. It was then i discovered how unlevel the pad was! To top it off i had bid on concrete at a charity auction and i had given the jerk the slip for it. Now i think he just pocketed it and charged me full cost anyways for all the concrete. Lots more to this story that i won't bother typing out. Thing that really burned me that dolt had full payment the same day the concrete was poured. Few years back now but what do you do, try and sue, jackhammer it all up? CONGRATULATIONS SQUATCH, IT LOOKS LIKE THESE GUYS DID A GREAT JOB. I should add that my brother did a 24X26 pad PLUS built the garage for my Dad many years ago, perfect job and not one hairline crack in the cement years later. He wasn't in the business any more or i would have had him do my pad. We live in Canada where it gets down to Minus 30-40 degrees too in winter. My Dad has passed on though, lived to 100 on his own almost until the end.
Well done! This has to be one of the most satisfying milestones on this whole journey. A perfect, pristine new concrete floor, EXPERTLY created. This is a form of art. Well done!
Awesome job they did with pouring the concrete and filming it is also a plug for their good works in their feild it speaks volumes about the company and their craft. And seeing it gets the word out.
Luv seeing Sr. rapping with the cement truck driver. Retirement should be this good, so much to be thankful for, to be proud of; the wisdom in his depths. Thanks for sharing.
Looks awesome, Toby! That crew worked like a well oiled machine in putting down the concrete. I am going to share this with my father in law because he wants to put down concrete in his pole barn. Neat to see the process by some hard workers, thank you for sharing!🚜👍
I delivered concrete for 22 years brings back memories. The guy scrubbing the floor on his hands and knees. Those are called knee boards . We always told customers to stay off the slab ( parking or storage ) for 14 days . State , county , jobs was 28 days. Just some advice and general knowledge I gave you. You can do what you want your shed . 😊
5 trucks at 10 yards each. $150 per yard. 5 X $150 X 10 = $7500 Price of having a shed that you can now put your treasures in PRICELSS! You definitely hired a very professional crew. Now we have to get a poll of what is going to go in the RED SHED!
As a carpenter myself and general contractor, concrete contractors are much appreciated. The good ones are had to find, not easy to get. Treat them well and with respect to their work and you’ll have someone who’s willing and able to come back the next time. Nice building and now nice floor. I hope eventually will be getting the rebuilds out in this shop😊
Excellent! "This Old Shed" is getting there. Yeah the concrete guys are artists with serious time limits placed on them. The logistics of multi truck deliveries adds to the challenge. Nice to watch the professional nature of laying down the yards. Love the riding power trowel!!!! Oh but watch it when shaking hands with them...serious pipes and grip. Smile.
Pleased for you Toby that it's all come together so well. Seems like you've had some great teams behind you. Well done all. Hope you can keep the deer out while it sets up. Bit late now maybe, but you should have written 80K in a corner somewhere.
Nice job. Good to see young guys working and learning a good trade. I'm glad it turned out to your expectations. Wow, 10 weeks till frost. Yikes. Time flies. We have a little longer here in NE Ohio.
I know it's easy to take concrete work for granted, but I am always fascinated and thoroughly impressed watching an experienced crew work together. Those guys know their stuff and they work in a coordinated fashion as well as (or better than) any surgical team.
I think its so funny how different trucks are state to state. Here in the northeast every cement truck has the chute off the front and the driver sits in the center. I dont think ive ever see a cement truck like those in person.
Yeah for some reason these rear unload trucks have always been the norm around here, but a lot of other places only use the front unload trucks. I don’t know the reason for the difference either 🤷🏻♂️
Awesome looking job. And yes, you got a lot more work to do. But then you need to organize all your good stuff you put in it. Next will be remembering where that pice is. After all the years where it has been. 🤣
My company crew once received a Letter of Recommendation from the City of Dallas by pouring 640 cubic yards for an airport runway in 9 hours to perfection, no discrepancies. Onycha Industries Corporation
I have several great friends that do crete every day, They are a tough breed of people for sure with a lot of unappreciated skills. Congrats on the project, no one can ever say that you haven't earned it.
Ahh man why’d you have to go dropping that 10 week comment in there - feels like we just got outta the cold - 10 weeks seems far too soon to start heading back into the deep freeze. That shops looking amazing!
I don't recall a redi-mix truck coming to the homestead, it was me, a pickup load of sand, some bags of cement, a hose and a wheel barrow. I laugh when I go home and try to sweep the garage floor, it's "crumbling" on the surface as dad tried to STRETCH that sand to cement ratio! Not much cheaper than growing up with a Swede for a dad! :)
