Another great video Toby. It’s nice to see you out and working again. I couldn’t just sit there either. It’s great to see the crusher moving again. It’s a lot of work ahead but a start. Thanks again and can’t wait for the next video!
Old equipment is awesome! The nature of it is usually very basic and it just wants to work, but it also seems to usually have a personality and wants someone to pay for making it sit around doing nothing. Always a great feeling when it decides to accept your offering of time, effort and various petroleum offerings to the iron gods!
Man, I'd love to disassemble that thing, clean it up, paint, and put it back together. That would be fun and satisfying. Men don't grow up...our toys just get bigger.
"This should not be this much fun" is still having a kid alive in you :) It happens with my 15 years old car with a niiiice engine, it happens on a bycicle when riding some nice wavy roads faster then normal. "This should not be this much fun" is... magic :)
Squatch, that little cackle when you were standing on the flywheel says it all, it's exciting to watch you bring these amazing machines back from the dead.
thank you for working on the rock crusher. Old stuff like this and your cat d2 and d6 like watching them videos on how you bring it back to life. thank you again. Have a great day be safe
Wow that worked free way easier than I expected it too!! Well done, that’s gotta make you feel better about the purchase. You know I’ll come help toss stones into it once it’s crushing.
When I was in my early twenties, my best friends Grandfather bought one of these from a local farm sale. Moving it was a bit of a challenge, we picked it with an old international R/O crane and hauled it on the flatbed. It was a little top heavy if you can imagine we only had to move it about eight miles but it was super squirrelly . The plan was to spin it with a D2 but his Pop pop passed away 20 years ago before he ever got to use it. It’s up on new timber’s now but we’re 60 years old now.
I like the plan for displaying your rock crusher. It looks like you are on the way to being back to your old self again. Still enjoy seeing your Cat on the rocks in the background. 🚜👍
I loved your evil chuckle at 20:13. There's nothing more satisfying than watching boys playing with their toys.😉 Maybe the old crusher won't take too much work to get her up and running again. Here's hoping. Hope your eyes are going OK.
Absolutely just awesome. Just like a young kid in a candy store. Glad you’re making positive progress on the rock crusher. Lots of motivation is also good for the eye and the mine.
That's going to be an interesting project. The variety of repairs that have to be done. Just the scale of heavy casting alone will be a challenge. Look forward to more of everything, glad you're out and about. 👍
Great to see someone else get that kind of enjoyment out of getting old equipment moving again! 👍🏼 Nice job and glad your able to get out there again!!
Excellent video it's nice to see the rock crusher shafts turning. I have a portable key cutting machine that would restore the key way or cut it slightly deeper to anchor a new gib key. Keep up the excellent videos
Thank you for the update. Sending positive thoughts health comes first over everything else. Although my father’s been gone 20 years. He was my buddy and we did a lot of things together and working on projects. I do miss that and happy that you have your dad around to give you a hand. I know it works both ways.
That deal is gonna be a project and a half when you get into it. It'll be helpful to you to make a decent A frame lift or jib crane to lift the heavy bits but not be permanently in place. Even as a 'as needs arise' piece, might be good to have a roof over it and to plan out the outlet for the crushed material so you're not having to really dig and struggle. Like a more elevated position, longer chute into a collection bunker to scoop from. But first your eyes gotta heal up, time has to present, and it's gotta not be frozen too.
I appreciate the patience. The crusher will be back to work soon. You raised a neat point about rock piles. NOW we might see the value in the pile. If we have a crusher. : - )
Hello from the England and great to see you having some enjoyment. You just can't go wrong with old equipment and machinery as it was made to last and to run. I so can't wait to seeing your next video but please take care 👍
I had the same reaction the other day when I switched on my Atlas TV42 lathe for the first time that I acquired from a neighbor. I have a bit of surface rust to remove from the ways, but she appears to be all original.
They were crushing asphalt it looks like. Makes sense for how clapped out it is to feed it something light and squeeze out every last bit of work out of it
11:18 that used to be a platform bolted on top of the rock crusher. Pretty common way to get rock in without having too much of a hassle dealing with scoops and dumping rock. Given the thickness, those are probably the bolts that held the beams for the platform, not for the actual platform itself. Might've been a mine crusher if that's the case, as they'd be about the only people who'd keep a machine like this long enough (in one place) to do it.
very interesting piece of machinery. takes so much power to crush rocks. you could have it crush and drop into a trailer or a cement pad. everybody like gravel!
Your cat monument looks grate I worked in a quarry as a young man had to use one it was very hard work for a16year old not to mention a bit scary. Keep safe and well thanks for the video.
Another classic. Top-side is your lube point for that pivot shaft, should be one of those old bolt holes, or both. Old school way is to pack them, fill with old tar grease and run the bolts in part ways to give it the ooze factor. Seeing you dig out old bitumen chunks is likely because someone ran old road chips through it however who knew what the previous operator deemed as proper lube especially if there was an old oil field nearby. All in all a fine tool and obviously built to outlast man and time. Look forward to ear protection day, the rumble and ground shaking of an old jaw crusher is always worth the trip.
Far far too much excitement for you during your recovery 🙄😁 great to see everything starting to free up 💪 as for the comment about the wear in the shaft that'll be no problem to someone like you or Senior 💪💪
