I have watched you two for forever and this is by far my favorite of all RU-vid subscriptions. Over a half million subscribers are living vicariously through you. 💚 Thank you for sharing. Good Lord, look how far you’ve come!!
Divine magic to have James leading your build. Without him you might just be making a stick frame place. Beyond luck that you picked property there. As much detail as you can capture on the construction, is welcomed. Very fulfilling to see the entire process. As always, you guys are cool people. One of the few worthy channels to justify spending 20 minutes of time.
He is easy going( James), because he is an accomplished man !! In what I see ...a true artisan!!! At 70 years old yesterday, I ,would love to be there n be an apprentice for him!!! It appears as though he is one of those folks that has the wisdom n knowledge of the ages!!!! Jus sayin 🤷!! Thanks for sharing 👍!! 👍🔨🪚🧙♂️🪚🔨👍!!!!
I really love these videos that are more passive observing. So relaxing and calming to watch, and we still feel like part of the process. Totally feel the morning vibes too - love those quiet moments
I can't tell you how much I look forward to your videos! Your style is so immersive and calming. I cheer you on, mellow out with you... I truly love it. It is a bit of a refuge for me. Thank you, and the best of luck to you! I do have a question. I notice, as the home building progresses, that there are many men involved and you tend to be the only woman around during the work. Are the women in your little community (Doreen, etc) more versed in the home side of things? I'd be like you, loving the mechanics and wanting a hand in every step of the process, all of the learning, so I just wonder where are all the women? 💜
That’s an interesting observation. Mike is one of our good friends who’s staying on our land right now, he’s helping all the neighbors and is just a super helpful hand to have around. Of course we’ve got James around all the time. Doreen isn’t always over at our place helping with projects bc it’s James’ expertise and she’s at her property building and maintaining their new space they acquired this summer. Same with Brad’s wife. I suppose a lot of the labor lately too is stuff that requires heavy lifting. I think when we get into more of the detail work that requires more finesse and patience we will have a flip flop from men to women!! Doreen specifically is the master of finish work and I’m excited to learn from her. Thanks for this question and your sweet comment!🤍
Elsa and Barron, I'm sorry, but these videos just aren't long enough. Seriously though, its a joy seeing the home come together. One of the aspects I think about is after the home is done and you're all moved in, as you walk around you'll see some aspect and a memory will spark from when you were building it.
The house is looking beatiful. as is the garden. The leaves from the broccoli can be cooked like spinach. The flowers from the broccoli and your greens can be used in salads. The broccoli flowers taste amazing, kinda sweet.
The song at the end, coupled with the emotions that had been portrayed up to that point, brought literal tears to my eyes. You said it right, you are in a race against winter. If something has to take a little vacation to make that happen, slow down the videos even more. Get that house!
I love that you added in the classical music throughout with silent parts of the video…reminded me of one of your winter videos that is once of my favorites. ♥️
I've been following you guys for several years now and let me tell you I have a very happy with this project that you guys are doing and looking forward to see it completed I know it's going to be a little lengthy project but it's better that way so it could be done right
Hearing that live above 8,000 ft blows my mind. I've lived basically at sea level my whole life and anything about 3,000 and I get kinda sick. Cheers to your adventure!
I haven't watched you for a while and after catching up with your videos I could really see that you're continuously improving your filming, editing and narration skills. amazing!
I've been watching for a long time and I feel the vibe between you and other ladies and gents community with other's who have the same goals and help one another speaks volumes for the friendships and people you met injoy love watching this journey.
It’s so amazing to watch the process of a house being built off grid. I know you’ve heard this many times but a lot of us are living vicariously through you two. Thank you for sharing your lives with us.
James has really been just the most delightful "addition" to this channel. I say that loosely knowing this is of course yalls space but I'm always glad to see him in the videos, just a genuinely great guy :))
Amazing how life works out. Buying the property, James and Doreen, construction of the new home 🏡 your garden, water on the property that's a big advantage. I'd say all n all your quite blessed. Have a wonderful week
You two rock. And how amazing is it to have James show up in your life to help guide you through this? I don't subscribe to many channels, but you are number one, and thank you.
Next year you should plant lettuce. My kids grow it in there garden. We plant both Black Seeded Simpson and Green Salad Bowl. Both are leaf lettuce and grow fast and are easy to harvest. My 10 year old did most of the harvesting this summer.
The house is looking beautiful I'm so excited. Your Gardens are gorgeous. You did a great job. Your videos just fly by. I sure did enjoy it . I will share this video. See you in the next one
My grandma's house was originally a Cinder block one floor then my grandpa Added a top story. The USA is getting very weird and alot of mental health issues that don't get addressed. So building one of these homes in the middle of my 20 acres sounds nice
James is such a cutie... Indeed, you guys are profoundly lucky in so many ways, and awesome that you know that. Love the garden goodies, and the absolute magic of it all. Off the charts amazing, how that plant clings to the grass with its sweet lil ringlet vines(omg). Love Nature s'much.
House is looking good. I was wondering why the concrete truck didn't have the revolving container which keeps the concrete from hardening up like it did. Garden turned out nice. Good job on the glue stuff you used when helping with the house, Elsa. Ahhhh. the misogynistic remarks we women have to put up with. You handled it well. "...I've used this before and I'm very good at it". Don't know how soon it gets cold at your elevation, but you'll probably get a good bit done before the snow flies. Take care.
Another thing we did was run all our wiring in the walls too. We ran them through conduit. The water pipes are all on one side of the house behind sheetrock indoors.
I loved seeing the garden update!! I’ve been cooking squash in my instant pot, & it’s AMAZING! 😮 Thank you for bringing so much light and comfort and inspiration. 🥰❤️☕️
The music selection for this video is amazing Elsa! It is awesome to see how you two are growing and overall building your house! Thanks for sharing from Spain!
Currently in Sud Tyrol / Dolomites of Italy. Been all over Italy this month. They build their homes with thick walls like you are doing this because AC doesn't exist here and its more energy efficient. Some of these homes here are built tought and have been standing for over 200 years. You're actually building a better style home. It has my questioning why they build such crappy houses in some parts of the usa. I Currently reside in Nashville and these Tall and skiny houses being built in a day that will fall down in the next Tornado have me shaking my head 🤦♀️. I think you to are on a really good path here. You're doing good 👍
Being at elevation like this I bet the mineral content of your veggies is extraordinary. You guys will be like Popeye running around looking for things to build. Very proud of your progress, guys. Looking forward to more.
I loved this video! You showed many different parts of your life. I still think it's funny how we watch other people doing their thing on u tube. I have learned a lot from you and have enjoyed watching you grow and change.
I love the how the garden is coming along, I was worried they were planted too closely but its perfect. With the snakes I wonder if the smoother driveway and moisture is drawing them in.
Like the others commented, your adventures are so inspiring and your respect of the land and Mother Nature. This channel is my all time fav and I’m so excited for the both of you. You have sacrificed so much and worked so hard but the reward is beyond the ability to express in words. Thx so much for sharing your journey with all of us❣️
Loving that you get to garden! What a difference your growing season is...compared to other RU-vidrs I watch up north! Gosh I LOVE it! All of you! ✌️❤️😁
I am so deeply happy for you both! What a truly exciting time and being able to build your own home from scratch is amazing! Love all of your videos! You two are so inspiring!🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
Beautiful guys....stunning teamwork from good friends and neighbors....the end is almost in sight...so onwards and upwards....love the garden Elsa...that you can harvest fresh vegetables and herbs ...a blessing. Be careful the rattlesnake made him so cumfy there ....can't wait to watch the next ..stage of your build... Take care ...stay safe...woof....woof to camp... All the way from...sunny South Africa
That was an amazing video; it inspires hope. Seeing you accomplish your goals with your own hands inspires a person to be hopeful. You all are doing such a wonderful job. Thanks for sharing.
Ive been watching your videos since you started the house foundation and you both inspired me to start my life living more simple and more within nature Nomad living is the direction i plan to start my journey
Nice work, folks. My friend John Wells built a large structure using this same technique. He did it entirely by hand, mixing and pouring the cement himself. Shipping containers anchor the four corners, and a series of large curved trusses support a translucent roof. It is an awesome structure.
