Bless you, Dr. Omalu. You're the kind of person I consider to be a true hero--going against the Goliath of the NFL & even risking your life (because, let's face it, the NFL is a powerful force) to promote SCIENCE & truth. We need more science & less denial in this country.

MsNooneinparticular I completely agree. I honestly find it so disgusting that something as “simple” as a sport has almost- if not more-the influence of a religion.

@@Robbiedehora His murders weren't premeditated though. That's the point! The two murders happened after an argument. If you read about the findings from the neuroscientists who examined his brain then you would understand the the part of the brain that was severely damaged is the same part that helps us control impulse, aggression, decision making. Patients who have brain damage in this area have been shown to be aggressive , violent, and prone to emotional volatility. Aaron Hernandez had severe mental disabilities that led to him not being able to control his impulse or emotions. Sources have alleged that one of the murders happened after a drink was spilled on him at a bar. Does that seem logical to you? No, of course not! Dude was only 27 years and look at how bad his brain looked...That is not normal for someone his age! In fact, it's actually terrifying!

I've never had interest in the sport to play it even when people wanted me to play it during my early school days because they looked at my size and speed and automatically try to predispose me to become a football player but something inside told me if you continue to play a violent sport where you constantly colliding into another man at a high rate of speed for an extended period of time you're going to suffer some type of long-term effects internally.
@dp233332
@dp233332 2 года назад
yea the thing with football is no matter how big tough or elusive you are unless youre also a jedi/psychic its pretty much impossible to dodge hits and avoid or even brace yourself for collisions that you cant see coming...11opposing players to watch out for as well as accidental collisions/friendly fire from the 10teammates on the field, and youve got a helmet restricting your peripheral vision to boot. A guy in my class started at QB for our HS varsity team as a freshman and became our regular starter for the next few yrs...During our jr or sr yr for the 1st time since that had happened, about halfway thru the season the coach announced that theyd be starting a new student at QB who had just transferred/moved from a city to our small, suburban town...He took 1 snap in that game from the center before getting his leg broken, suffered a compound fracture no less...He never played football again and it ruined him as a basketball player as well.

I'll be 69 in 3 months. I've never had a concussion or any type of brain injury. Over the past couple of years I've had problems with short term memory loss. Words, names, things that I've know for decades escape me. I started our car for some reason. The police came to the house because someone saw the lights on for a few hours and thought something was wrong. When I came to the door the police asked me about the car running. I had no idea; I thought someone had tried to steal it. I assume it's just old age, but it's scary as hell. I can't imagine what it'd be like to be 45-50 and going through this.

When I think about it, football is a sport of athletic and collosal sized men who crash into each other WEEKLY. They're taking head trauma for months and years! I took damage in a street fight and just now recovering from that. The brain is elastic and can repair it's self from damage... I have friends who couldn't talk after car accidents but they're fine now through proper recovery. Taking constant trauma though... ouch...

Yes high school but also the privately run tackle leagues for kids in elementary school even. They need to just do away with tackle atleast until the child grows to be legal adult age and can make that choice for themselves. Too many money hungry parents pushing their kids into tackle. That's all the kids know and they don't get a choice.

Congratulations Dr. Omalu you are not only a doctor, that of death, passes for people to live.

I’m glad there is awareness to this now. I loved playing football and I love watching football. However, money talks and fans and player won’t stop watching and playing the game. Billions and billions being made. The few that speak out against head injuries don’t hold a candle to the fans that spend the money to cheer on and watch the violence. Just stating what I see. Stadiums sold out. Draft days sold out. Fantasy football bigger than ever. Nfl making money hand over foot. No matter what you do or say it will continue to go forward. I hope players stay safe and I hope the message stays strong on head traumas but the game won’t stop and won’t be any safer than it is today. Unless you play flag football.

Good for you Dr. Omalu. I just commented on a video by Dr. Robert Stern, thought I'd share it here: ~~~ I am now 57 years old. Head injuries started around 7 years old (three concussions before 10, two of them unconscious). Then it was motocross, football, accidents - one of which was a fractured skull. CTE-like symptoms started to appear in my late 20's. Then the slow and steady decline. I have tried all the recommended remedies, and with much gusto and commitment. CAT scans, MRI’s, treatment plans. I have also tried so many non-conventional approaches. Without cynicism I can say conventional remedies are laughable…some caused more harm. It seems Robert Stern and for the most part the medical community mean well, but I feel compelled to say - this video (and so many others) are doing more of a disservice to those suffering from this little understood ailment. Your approach is superficial, barely one dimensional. This reminds me of my decades of struggle, watching my life and relationships fall away from me due to lack of understanding. Those that took the conventional approach in their half hearted efforts to help - diet, exercise, effort, positive thinking, etc. - all on the surface meaning well, but not really studying me and my issues, not listening...we just quickly sailed away from each other. You are pitting all those harmful concepts against those who are truly suffering, establishing further division. As a professional you have an obligation to see this side, look deeply, and do more. My heart breaks for all the others who are isolated, alienated and misunderstood. I am convinced there is an ever increasing number of people who feel like me. For this reason I feel a need to give this more exposure. I commend you for doing more than nothing, gotta start somewhere. Now I challenge you to take a closer look, this is a different animal. I have done work with water - I can "vitalize", or measurably increase the voltage of water. Plants fed this water show on average twice the biomass and nutrient density compared with control plants (and 2x the voltage). I suspect cannabis, in particular CBD, in conjunction with higher voltage water, will reduce inflammation and drive out tau protein and its nasty after effects. Any fatal / incurable disease is only labeled that until a cure is found.
