This movie was amazing and, (sorry to those of you who are not fans of Will Smith) I firmly believe that Will Smith should have been nominated for an Oscar for this role! Dr. Bennett Omalu is a true hero! He is responsible for the greatest and most significant medical discovery in sports medecine EVER! Who knows how many American Football Players have died, or WILL die from Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (C.T.E.)

I am not a Will Smith fan but I do agree that he probably deserved some kind of award for this. The character is very different from the ones he would usually play and that shows that he has a range.

Reading "League of Denial" earlier this year forever changed my view of football and other COLLISION sports. The brain is everything - once you lose your mind, you've lost EVERYTHING that matters. Watching the story of CTE play out on the big screen with Will Smith's portrayal of Dr. Bennet Omalu only solidified my views. "Tell the truth! ... When a man is a football player, he knows he may break his arm or his leg. He does not know that he can lose his mind, his family, his money, his life. They have to KNOW... God did not intend for us to play football."

I think you need to watch more combat sports. Because Will's slap was never going to cause a concussion. Hell watch it in slow motion. Chris Rock's head doesn't twist, it doesn't jar or vibrate from the impact. Chris even rolled with the slap. When you see actual violence, you get an idea of severity. Humans are just not that delicate, we are probably more fragile then we think, but not to that extent.

@@mr.shin.5138 All personal stuff aside, not even close. Give me Denzel or Morgan Freeman all day. Will Smith is a two way star in music and film. I think his acting just falls short though compared to others. I got to give it to Will though. He crushed a great life in high school and never looked back. I liked him in so many films. It is sad his Oscar incident will haunt him forever.

@@scringe1 True and the actors you mentioned are indeed brilliant examples, however Will Smith has his own distinguishing factor, his portrayal of Mohammed Ali and Pursuit of Happiness and especially Seven Pounds are great examples of his skill and excellence. So yes, i do believe he is one of the greatest we will ever see, irrespective of his personal life. I’m not even a fan and have no stake, just commenting on how he has personally come across on the big screen.
