Condicote is a small village located in the Cotswold district of Gloucestershire, England. It has a rich history dating back many centuries.
Like many villages in the Cotswolds, Condicote has medieval origins. It was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, which was a survey of England commissioned by William the Conqueror.
The village is known for its historic manor houses, which are characteristic of the Cotswold area. These houses often date back several centuries and are built from the distinctive local honey-colored limestone.
Like much of the Cotswold region, Condicote has a history tied to agriculture. It was primarily an agricultural community, with farming being a central part of the local economy.
The village is noted for its well-preserved traditional Cotswold architecture, which includes stone cottages with steeply pitched roofs.
The Cotswold region as a whole has played a significant role in English history. Its wealth from the wool trade in the Middle Ages contributed to the construction of many of the historic buildings in the area.
