I wonder if I could ask for a tutorial , I have lists of three column first column is a number, second column is a name, third column is either a Y or N ( yes or No ) Is there a way to total all of the number values with a Y's or N's in the list

Hi Kevin, thank you for the excellent videos. I want to change text color for "can" specifically for just these 3 letters only. However, when I set the conditional formatting, it is also highlighting other words that contain these letters. For example it also highlights "Canada". I don't want that, I just want the separate word "can" to be highlighted. Help!

Hi Kevin, I love your videos but am still learning on how to expand and use Excel in a bigger way. With that said, I am creating a simple project tracker spreadsheet for all my supervisors so I can keep track of project status and trying to use the strikethrough feature for completed items. I watched a video on how to do this but the video only explained how to do this for one row. I would like to apply this to the entire worksheet without having to create a rule for every individual row( worksheet contains 250 rows :( Please HELP!!

Is there a way to turn the highlighting as the actual format of the cell? Let's say that I've highlighted (via conditional formatting) a bunch of cells with BOLD text format. Now the highlighted cells appear as bold, but you can't find and select them by that formatting.

Hi Kevin, is it possible to format cell comparing with value from previous date. I have in one column dates, in other columns values of my stocks on those dates. I would like to have arrow up in same cell if value is higher then previous day and arrow down if value is lower. Thanks in advance!

Question - So in conditional formatting, for example, the data bars - the highest value is always the highest figure. Why is it set that way. If John has 95/100, his data bar shouldn't be full. Is there a way to set it without having to add a new cell with a value of "100" to it? Thank you

How does excel determine good vs bad on words? The restaurant review column. Did the document author signify good vs bad vs neutral for each customer? Assigning a value for good vs bad vs neutral (e.g. +, -, 0)

Hi, I am trying to format dates in the future beyond next month. So I have one colour format for last month, one for this month and I need one to show dates beyond next month. I am using the following formula, but it just doesn't seem to work. =AND($E15>TODAY(),$E15>=(TODAY()>30)) I have also tried >60 days but still doesn't work. I would appreciate some advice.

Hello Kevin, I am trying to create a spreadsheet that I can use to include 4 columns of test result readings, that individually I would like to colour correctly between ranges of data but also using all 4 columns of data to create a cell that will colour code the quality of the total readings. That sounds confusing to me even. In short I have 4 different signal readings taken during testing, each of them have their own pass fail range but all used together create a total system quality, which I would like to show the corresponding column as colour from our pass fail range? I have no idea of where to start with this?

I have problems with copy/pasting using conditional formatting. It uses dollar signs when I create the ranges for my conditions. In doing so, it sets the conditions for the data I copied from to the the new location using the data from my copied source. The layout is the same, it just has different data. This situation forces me to individually set each condition. It is VERY time consuming. Is there a way to have it not use the dollar signs?????

my issue is that we have a sheet we are constantly data to and it changes the conditional formatting rules every time we paste. for instance, if i have a cond. formatting rule set up for the entire A column, after pasteing in a new set up data, it resets to only apply to those cells we pasted into, rather than the whole column. anyway to lock the conditional formatting to the entire range rather than having it change every time we put in new data?
