At this point, for me, it is a choice between the "Dadao" and the "Scimitar". I think I would settle on the scimitar because it has a better thrusting tip on its blade. For a long time I was a big "fan" of Chinese War Swords, but then I saw the "Condor Simbad Scimitar" and its more exotic and less pragmatic shape. It looks like it's chopping potential is equal to the "Dadao" and still provides the superior thrusting potential. As a security factor, the leather sheath looks to be well made and has a bit of the ambiance of the "Condor" fastener work. It isn't designed to be a quick draw scabbard. One would just have to be ready or buy enough time to get the blade free for "work". I would prefer a leather, or parachute cord, wrapped grip. The nice wood could get slippery. But I could make this improvement myself. I may end up buying both styles and comparing their "feel". Thanks for the look at this beautiful and inexpensive weapon.

Just bought this sword a couple months ago as birthday gift to myself. I love it, its a pretty badass sword for the price! I got it like 80 bucks on Ebay. The blade is the best design on a Scimitar ive seen in a long time.

Probably the sickest scimitar on the market, I love the looks of it. Come to think of it, the blade shape looks almost exactly like the scimitars you'd find in Skyrim!

Nice video. I have several Condor machetes, always purchased in pairs for dual wielding, used to clear trails on family property. The Condor Topanga is by far the best machete I have had and used. Though I am right hand dominant I work to try and "equalize" both right and left hand. The Topanga machetes are lightweight, durable, and easily manageable with either hand for me.

I'll refrain from making any comments about your "use" of the sword, but I will give you a tip: making your videos available in 720p and 1080p does not help if your camera does not record to the same or higher level of quality.

Would love to see you guys do a video where you just take a bunch of your swords and do a cut testing session on bottles or tatami and just show off a lot of blades. Another great review though guys!

+Matthew Blohm Matthew I like your idea of a montage of blades in one video we'll have to do that. We found a good supplier for tatami so you'll see that pretty soon. thanks for checking out the videos

I own this one and Have to overall pleased. A bit expensive for a machete but also pretty cheap for a sword. Falls somewhere in the middle As a capable beater you would do things with you wouldnt think of with a quality sword. The construction is basic but well put together and still an interesting Comfortable design., You could probably break it if you really really tried but everyday abuse no Worries it would take it fine. Would i recommend this , yes. Fun little blade for $100-$130.

Should add one thing. Mine also came with the finish destroyed. I should have sent it back but never did. Doesn't effect to performance, still chops like a champ this is more of a tool than collectors item anyway..

I have knives that cut better that that thing. Also put the wood that you are cutting on something stable and solid. It helps a lot. That limb bouncing wasn't helping your cuts, but still, it should cut better than that. I suspect that the blade was actually dull.

Best way to test a blade is to show someone who doesn't know how to use it attempt to use it. If an untrained person can make it look good, it's a good blade.

Because of the knife like full tang with riveted handle scales this is not a scimitar, but a messer. Scimitar have internal tang that are peened or screwed on from the end to the handle.
@danieljones26

I'm partial to the "full tang" design. Especially if it is two-handed length.

A "good blade for utility work?" You are joking, right? It just took you 47 strokes to get through a 3" limb. This is a cool blade, with impressive durability, but to say it is "good for light bushcraft work" is laughable. It's design is terrible for such work.

yea i could not help but lol when he said hiking and backpacking things like that... who the fuck is going to bring that shit with them...... seriously... the only thing this is good for is a zombie apocalypse or a functional show piece... bushcraft and hiking lmao utility work lmfao who the fuck u trying to kid..

Well... Watch Tactical's review of it. He cuts lighter wood, by the looks of it, and he knows how to use it properly. This guy on this video is obviously inexperienced.
@IIDASHII
@IIDASHII 7 лет назад
It is a sword. It could be the best chopping sword on the planet, and it would still be a poor chopper in comparison to an axe that costs half as much, does twice the work, and weighs the same or less. Calling a sword good for any type of bushcraft work is wishful thinking.
@jakepv1
@jakepv1 7 лет назад
IIDASHII I got one of these recently. it cuts better than my small axe. I cut down several large scrub oaks with it. it goes trough oak like butter. 6-7 inch diameter pieces in like 4 cuts. it has some serious bite to it. plus, it clears all the small brush better than any machete I've ever used. not to mention, it would take off an arm or leg really easy. the sheath is total crap, but the sword itself is no joke.

One might notice that the branch he was cutting was "seasoned", dry and hard. The "Condor Simbad Scimitar" would have done better on a fresher branch.

A scimitar is a WEAPON, not a bush knife or a toy.

Yes you're right. And a company that specializes in machetes makes these so it's going to have more of a chopping feel than a traditional scimitar has.
