Been there three times in less than a year! Twice last year, once this year! I plan to go again a couple more times by October. I love it there! It’s my favorite place to be! I went on the Cyclone three times and it’s scary but so fun!!! I’m afraid of upside down rollercoasters so I avoid those. I’ve never tried a Nathan’s hot dog though because I myself am not a fan of hot dogs either.
I LOVED Coney Island. There is such a laid back atmosphere and lots of fun to be had in the sun. There is also a huge historic element, and easily accessible by subway. I don't really have an ocean beach where I come from so it was really nice to experience.
I live right by Coney Island and I have been there many times, honestly if you go you should stay away from all of the food places including Nathan’s because they are severely overpriced and nothing is really too great. The games and everything are fun but expensive as well. The cyclone is around 10$ to ride once and should definitely be done once in your life. The thunderbolt rollercoaster is very overpriced and not worth it in my opinion. I love Coney Island but if you are looking for amazing food you should definitely stop in to L&B Spumoni Gardens which is about 10-15 min away by car. They have the best Sicilian pizza in all of New York and amazing Italian Spumoni Ices for a relatively cheap price. Coney Island can be very fun just watch out because the prices can be pretty staggering
Why're there so many headscarfs around?? It's HORRIBLE!!! Is this ur famously praised Democrat policy?? They wouldn't be there anymore, if _T._ would've stayed president!! In American videos I always noticed and admired the fact, that you DO NOT see these odious persons everywhere around like here in GER!!! Appearantly, that's not the case anymore since you don't keep voting for Republicans!! That's BAD!!!
The aquarium is the best. It didn't used to be so expensive (true of most NYC things). But it's still a great trip, followed up by a walk by the ocean. Perfect summer day.
from a native nyc native and brooklyn native, eny and daville.....i hope things have gotten better since i retired over 12 years ago and left nyc. c.i. was a great place, but it became a complete cesspool of lowlifes and filthy food vendors. roaches and mice were not an uncommon sight crawling on food. some of the workers were high as a kite and for their games, food, and rides- way over priced. native new yorkers started to go to keansburg n.j. much safer and less of a cesspool. again, i hope things have gotten better. for people who want a clean beach and ocean, go to jones beach l.i. or the south new jersey shores.
Coney Island has been my Disney World since 1972. My family and I would go crab 🦀 fishing at The now defunct pier. Later we’d go to the beach and at night we’d ride the rides at AstroLand ( Luna Park). My fave ride was and still is The Cyclone.....🤪 My teenage sons swear it’s the best place on Earth after Disney. Thanks for the video!!
I still remember the Stauch Bath that has The Warriors imprint on the wall & I still can’t believe it got demolished in the early 90s because of a fire incident. I could just imagine if it was still up to this day & generation as a landmark. I miss the old Coney, that’s when Coney Island was Coney Island. I remember that old thunderbolt rollercoaster that wasn’t even fully operational & I don’t even know why it haven’t or ever reopened. Back then Coney Island has a lot of abandoned structures, shattered bottle glasses on the sand & a lot homeless it was like a ghost town like in the movie The Warriors it was a different look compared to now since right now it isn’t what it used to be. Back then we used to play football with an empty soda bottle at the beach & after we went to take a break from the sun underneath the boardwalk & we felt the cool while we was underneath the planks & hear people’s footsteps from above us. I always wanna know the reason why the boardwalk underneath is filled with sand & it’s fenced up & closed down
you think 10 years is long.....born and raised here and i didn't ride the wonder wheel until i was in my 20s! lmao but that was only bc it broke down once and people had to be rescued, i think some time in the 90s, so i was traumatized lol. i also rode the cyclone when i was in my 20s and it gave me whiplash! never again lol growing up coney island was my disneyworld since my parents couldnt afford a trip to disney, so this video was very nostalgic!
We’re just back home in England from NYC. Watched lots of your vlogs with interest thanks. December definitely not the best time to visit C.I. Wish we could see it in the Summer. Had the Nathan’s hot dog which is ok but not that special to be honest. Loved the history of this fun area. We really felt safe and welcomed in NYC.
I had fun and I got a frog!!!.... Hahahaha I'm dying with your comments, sorry I was the one that put ketchup on my hot dog, we eat them like that in Mexico... loool
You just can't skip the Cyclone. C'mon...get over your fears and have a blast. It's probably the best thing there. Also Nathan's is overrated and overpriced in CI and the people at those locations seemed overworked as hell. Had a Nathan's hot dog at a Yankee game and it cost the same and tasted better.
The Coney Island Brewing Co. is worth a visit. Great craft beers brewed on the premisses and they give guided tours of their brewing facility. Only a few moments walk from the subway station.
OMG! Haven’t been there is a million years. What fun and wonderful memories. Look, Adriana kissed a frog and now has Prince Charming. ❤️. My family used to rent a bus to go. Made driving easier. I can smell the Nathan’s hot dogs from here. Love them. I have never been to the Mermaid Parade but friends have and showed pictures. Hysterical!! Nothing but fun in Coney Island. Thanks Jon and Adriana.
Lived in Trump Village when Coney Island was at its lowest point. I now live out of town and haven't been there in years. It looks great. But you better bring a wad of cash. Man is it expensive! $4.75 a hot dog? Geez......
I go to the original Nathan's whenever I go to a Cyclones game. $4.75 for a hot dog might seem expensive, but believe me, it's worth it! Whenever I go, I get 2 chili cheese dogs and an order of chili cheese fries.
Nice video. I am from France. Been To nyc many times but never Coney Island. Thank you sharing your experience. And the extra recommendations are great.
Saw you at Nathan‘s with your camera that day but wasnt sure if it was really you...now I know haha! Just watched all of your videos before our trip to NYC.
Hey, thanks for putting me in your video! I DO enjoy my job and it's a blast working at Coney Island as there's always a random cast of characters as well as an overall fun vibe there every day. Great VLOG and great NYC coverage! Sincerely, The Guy Dancing on the Thunderbolt Music Ride at Deno's Wonder Wheel :)
Less than 1 month before I make that trip to NYC!!! Thanks all the vids you, Tal and Jacob have provided. I am just a little worried navigating around.
Grew up a few miles away. I’m 62 now. Nathan’s dogs in their restaurants around the country, and their natural casing sold in supermarkets, are exactly the same as those sold in Coney. And if you didn’t go on a swinging car, you didn’t go on the Wonder Wheel.
The NY Aquarium at Coney Island has the new multi million dollar Shark Reef. I believe it’s the second largest in the nation and it’s spectacular! The sharks 🦈 swim above you and all around you(in an enclosed environment of course)!
Nathan’s in my opinion isn’t that bad. But I would perfer the Nathan’s in the boardwalk. The prices are ok Also for students if you go towards the last day of school and show them your report card you can get a few free credits for rides
I've not been on the Wonder Wheel since the 70s. The first time I got on the Wonder Wheel, I rode the swinging car and I was not prepared! I really miss Coney Island🎢🎡... nothing like it.
I miss the old Coney, that’s when Coney Island was Coney Island. I remember that old thunderbolt rollercoaster that wasn’t even fully operational & I don’t even know why it haven’t or ever reopened. I grew up in Brooklyn In the 1950’ and 60’s. Coney Island was always the best place to go for summer fun! Later in the 70’s I went there with my husband!
When I was a kid (60s-70s), my mom would never let me go to Coney island. The only time I went out there as a kid was to go to the aquarium on a school field trip. Now that I don't live in the area, I rarely make it out of Manhattan when I'm up there.
Coney Island Freak Show right near the boardwalk is a fun time! Also, the Thunderbolt is a solid thrill ride, smooth and has some airtime. The hotdogs are exactly what you said, hotdogs. Nothing special. But you can get some great pizza for a better price down the street away from the beach.
Only reason I want to go to Coney Island is because of The Warriors Movie, but I’m abit disappointed after this video,is there nothing there to see about/to do with the movie, except the big wheel?
I grew up in Brighton Beach. Coney was my playground as a kid. Playing hooky and that delicious Nathans and the games and rides. Still the best fries anywhere.
I still remember the Stauch Bath that has The Warriors imprint on the wall & I still can’t believe it got demolished in the early 90s because of a fire incident. I was there a few weeks ago and ate at that original Nathan's. I had me a cheese dog and cheese fries. Luckily the lines went really fast. I never realized how cool Coney Island is. I only went there once when I was, like, eight. I didn't go on the rides since I am not into roller coasters, but walking the boardwalk was nice. I want to hit up the Aquarium on my next visit.
Tbh Coney Island kind of sucks lol. I've tried to enjoy it several times as an adult but every time it was dirty and crowded.. maybe it used to be better?
Gday luv Have to go to the El Dorado the bumping disco cars nearby it's a MUST Also on the weekends live disco reggae house music late afternoons some of the world's most famous djs Rockaway is waaaaay better than Coney Island less crowded better variety of food
Ferris wheel and Cyclone are definitely must do's, do not pay for Screaming Eagle or Steeplechase they are cloned attractions that can be found at multiple amusement parks
Hey John, just to keep you updated, I went to Governors Island sooner than expected, it was beautiful, it was relaxing & it was DEFINITELY a serene experience. I was never expecting it to be so quiet. & I am actually happy you touched based with Coney, I’ve been to coney only 2wice but this video made me want to plan another great trip there with your helpful tips. On the ferry ride, I was wondering if you could possibly touch up areas in the bronx ?
I was born there in 1963. im half polish and half black. it was hard bing that color then. but I will tell you my mom and day made it a lot of fun every day at the beach and rides. we lived there for 20 years. I go back every year. thanks for making this video. makes my day.
I've seen mayo on a hot dog, and apple on a pizza! BTW, did you know Coney Island is where roller coasters were invented because of 'sins' ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sQv7194eYQw.html
Visited NYC Memorial Day weekend. Took the Q line to Coney Island. Crazy lady on the train yelled at us and warned us not to go in the water... I kept wondering if we'd run into you filming somewhere. We went to a few places you filmed about. Glad for your suggestions.
i been their many times..place like that kinda ghetto to me? i took the rides before didn't liked the Luna parks their also kids parks for rides. foods are pretty expensive also..price when up every year..
