scripted or not, that was a respectful and caring way to react to someone confessing to you and coming out. it wasn’t invalidating at all and i think it was a great example of what to do or say.

I would be more shocked anyone would like me in that way, no matter the gender. But i would be happy knowing that i’m capable of being attractive to someone else.

I can’t tell if this was a prank or not (i’m not finished) but this is actually really accurate, my best friend had a crush on my and when they told me, i told them i wasn’t interested but i still loved them so much, years later we are still friends. I came out to a girl that I liked her but she was straight. We were friends from a very long time. When I finally decided to tell her, she started being awkward and panicking and said she was straight but she didn't want to break the friendship. Two years passed by. This happened to me a while ago with a friend and god, to this day it still makes me feel like I'm the luckiest person alive. It started when we were on the bus back late together after our club activities and then she suddenly confessed to me in the bus, asking me if I would like to go out with her. It sounded very serious and the reason I doubted it at first was because it was really out of nowhere and I didn't think she was interested in relationships. I asked her twice afterwards if she was serious and she said yes with a straight face each time. I told her I wanted to take some time to actually think about it properly so I said I would consider it. Over the course of a few months of getting closer, eventually I realised that it wouldn't hurt to try it out since we have a lot of chemistry and I liked spending time with her a lot. ( It got to the point where I would just call her and ask if she wanted to meet up randomly to go to the mall for a short while or walk aimlessly in the neighborhood almost every single day) One day while we were studying late tgt over a call for our exams I brought it up really casually with the intention to ask if she wanted to go out with me but what a plot twist, she said she was joking about asking me out. I was like ' Are you serious?' and then she was like ' Yea I was joking then, couldn't you tell at all??!'. I'm so fucking lucky I didn't ask her out first and brought it up carefully because then it would become real awkward with her being like, ' it was a joke...' . We are still friends now and like I think back to this a lot when people ask us if we are dating each other. I may actually end up asking her out eventually but now being friends is nice too :)

His friend was admirable in this situation. I don't know how I feel about it being a scripted social experiment prank than a real situation. On one hand, it shows people's true colors. On the other, this is a very scary, very real, and very sensitive process. Part of me was kind of upset because people go through that for real. The other part of me was happy that the friend was such a good sport about it. I clicked this video thinking it was a real "coming out" situation. I agree with his friend that you should go into acting because even I a gay man was fooled.
