Hello Sir, this video is very help full but can explain in detail about why we use 250 ohm resistor in loop power connection with HART communicator.

The HART signal is a small voltage signal that is superimposed on top of the analog current signal. Since it’s a voltage, you must measure it across a load-- in this case. the 250 ohm resistor.

@@PhoenixContactUSA Right - but isn't it true in many cases that, when connected to the DCS or PLC analog input channel - the channel typically has a 250 ohm resistor, thus allowing one to connect the HART communicator directly across the terminals of the input channel? In other words, the 250 ohm resister is very much needed on the bench to "simulate" the AI channel electronics of the PLC/DCS module - but as installed in the field it is typically not needed?

Very good sir ...i want know why we use resistor with hart ? Why the designer make device have a internal resistor like plc card

I've got an older HART Communicator, model 275. Will this video help me in understanding how to use any HART Communicator or just specific ones ?

Yes, all HART communicators fundamentally work the same way. The programmer in this video is a model 375, which is an upgraded version of the 275, that also works with Foundation Fieldbus devices.

@@PhoenixContactUSA I suppose one can not simply turn the communicator on via the power button without having some kind of instrument part of the loop either. We've got that old 275 that I recently found, the batteries had gone bad from sitting. I popped in some fresh double A's, tried turning the power on - nothing happened.

Hi, could you point me in the right direction? When I boot up my hart 475 a black "attention" screen asking me to select retry, reflash or recover. But I do not know how to select any of the options?.. I have pressed buttons directly under.. pressed 1, 2 and 3 and also tried pressing on the touch screen?... thanks 😊

That sounds like an internal error of the 475. I’d suggest you contact your local Emerson representative for support.
