I love the R 18 first addition. It doesn’t copy any one! Classic looks like road king, bagger - street glide.

the bobber kit is the only way i would go for.

It's my personal preference, but for all the diversity of twin-cylinder engines out there, a 360° firing interval sounds the most bland, produces the most bland powerband (360-360-360-etc), and with this rather striking new R18, there's obvious ergonomic issues with the fact one's feet are constricted to be folded up behind the giant cylinders sticking out. You might just forego the kickstand; just lean it over on the cylinder head. In this sort of ethos, I'd buy a Triumph Bobber 5x over before considering a boxer BMW. That 1200cc 270° engine with that subtle gear whine is just a gem, packed with character, produces that lumpy power delivery, and doesn't restrict fore-aft legroom or leaning clearance. I just don't understand what BMW is up to with this bike because the current Harley Davidson market is shrinking rapidly and considering the issue of the virus right now, it's all bad timing in my mind. The gen-x and millineal markets are NOT favoring cruiser-styled machines. The cafe-racer market is also niche.

A beautiful magnificent piece of machinery

Too bad the fuel tank is too small for this big engine, only 16 liters of gasoline, the range will be too low, I would not take it because of that, just to gain 4 unfortunate kilos, they have spoiled my pleasure , I would have liked a 20 liter tank which would also have given a more beautiful line with this big engine. Same for the Triumph Rocket 3R and its small 18-liter tank are its short range of 200 km.

Tim all the way!! I would the same thing 19inch cast wheel front Bobber sit black out engine and V&H(hopefully shorties when they gonna come out) exhaust black plus flat/drag bar and rises and a cast wheel and the back the fatter the better!! Plus a bikini front fearing :)

Great minds think alike. Approved.. But as of today you can't get these accessories in US so you have to buy the stock bike until they make them available, and they don't have pricing for them, are the parts an up-charge or full replacement cost? When all said and done will this be a 30k bike, if so you might as well buy a Harley.

The mufflers of the R18 Concept bike were just great. The production bike ones are... ugly. I understand the historical recall to 1930s BMW bikes but... Roland Sands optionals are amazing for Design and Quality.

Bad ass

It's December 2020 and nothing has changed. The BMW web site still doesn't give prices for the accessories and if you pick some items, like the machined black engine covers, you can't add them to a 1st Edition or Premium Package. Get the top packages OR get the blacked out, machined parts but not both. And why doesn't the Premium Package include cruise control? Apparently cruise has to be requested as a separate item, with it's own additional price. The "build it" website also has a check box if you want a passenger seat. Really? It's EXTRA? What if you check a box for the Weekender or Cross Country seat? Will they come with out a passenger seat unless you pay the extra fee? For that matter, the descriptions of the Cross Country and Weekender seats make them sound very much alike. How about actually giving some useful descriptions that explain their differences. I've seen and drooled over the Concept bike at the 2019 NYC show. I think that BMW did a great job making it a reality, although it would have really hit the mark if they had done it with the upside-down forks and Concept-like covers. I think that the factory fishtails would be much better looking if they hadn't done them with the protruding seams on top and bottom. I'm already wondering if they can be ground down and tig-welded flush with the muffler top and bottom. BMW already makes tubeless wire wheels. Why doesn't the R18 have them? I've test ridden the R18 and I want one.
