Oh my goodness thank you! It's kinda odd how they just don't even realize how it reinforces what fat people have been saying. The thing that takes the wind out of my sails when it comes to fat jokes is that it's hard to tell if it's actually a joke or if it comes from a place of contempt. Like I don't think any group of people deserve some form of comtempt just for existing. I don't understand how people don't realize that it's fundamentally weird to hate someone for existing.

So glad you said this! It was so odd to see them get so mad and defensive about someone saying that they’ve been made fun of for being fat at the gym. They pretty much were so self centered. Talking about their own experiences and ignoring others .

I look at my short time being fat as a blessing because I've been fit most of my life and shared in thinking fat people were just lazy or caused themselves to be in that position, but never took the time to think about why it doesn't justify people being cruel to them until I hurt my back and put on the weight on bedrest, during recovery, and best believe I ate my feelings when i couldn't move or do much else. Yeah, the pain is gonna be there the rest of my life, but I realized at the end of the day you don't know anyone's story by just looking at them, so it just comes down to the fact that no one really deserves to constantly be bullied especially if they aren't doing anything to anyone

Aba seemed uber triggered. I guess we found the issue he is a dick about, and not balanced. And that Erudite lady, she usually seems so level headed but she really talked in absolutes. I found the group weird about this topic.

Agreed. While I don't think the jokes are off the table, Aba was unnecessarily cruel. I think it shows he has a trigger point with it, it is his issue. Preach seems like a softie and probably just likes women and wouldn't go out of his way to point insult them.

I think Papa kept him on his toes, he seemed tense on this topic and it took a couple hours for him to soften and talk normally.

It's moreso their reaction. They pin the "dumbest" comment and some of them have been people bringing up good points. The fact that they show the most engagement with just being mean is never going to set a good standard within a community/comment section. I don't like hoe they lean to being comedians but when want to be taken seriously at the same time. It's getting into def territory. I was actually surprised how Aba wasn't able to really hold up his argument in this. I understood leaving the call with sneako but some of his reactions to this were disappointing. I'm starting to notice hes not as open minded and free thinking as i assumed. He's very open minded to things that are already pushed by society. ie; fat people bad, feminism bad, etc. He's willin to look for the likable human traits to that racist guy in that call (can't remember the name, sneako was amplifying him) and laugh him off as just stupid. But when it comes to women, fat people, LGBT hes very quick to knit pick and point out how dangerous this could be out of context.

@@LilRobber Wow, could not agree more. 👏👏👏 I used to f*ck with Aba & Preach hardcore but now it's just disappointing how Aba is and I feel there's nothing inherently wrong with Preach cause I do think his delivery is better but he needs a more assertive backbone when dealing with Aba.

@@Its_Whatever. thank you! I had a hard time tuning in when they kept taking jabs at the topic of consent and domestic abuse. I found them doing what a lot of people do: tear down female victims to empower male victims. Just empower victims. U don't have to fat shame to get rid of skinny shame. I hate that argument and even its just clickbaited its still gross. Sometimes it wouldn't even be them in the video it would be how nasty and off the rails the comments would get with no push back.

He apologized for not doing his research, but he doubled down on the name calling due to the fact he feels it’s warranted based on the info he received. Papa guts argument is that this is morally wrong essentially, which it is. He doesn’t have to apologize, you are right. But that still makes him the asshole in this situation.

Every time papa gut pointed out inconsistency or incongruence with the claims, logic, or principles, Aba would half respond to just circle back to his narrative/perspective. I don’t understand how you watched this and didn’t think this was a slippery ass conversation that Papa handled with EXTREME patience. Getting mischarscterized and steamrolled with obnoxious interjections…boy I couldn’t. Some people need to learn to listen more and talk less.

@@elsapadilla2897 age is certainly part of it... but id also include time and experience around Destinys many debates. His DGG chat are much more molded to his style of creation style. Debate prep, constant dissection of all kinds of political or social sutuations happening all over the world. You can never catch Destiny react to something “just for fun” unless it holds some sort of lesson he believes important or polishing in. YT chats kinda like the third wheel since its so easy to dip in and out of, as compared to his site.

Thats why you see him usually only address DGG chat and only keep them on screen. It can be annoying, but thats his “community” as far as time/loyalty. Subreddit mods etc all come from his site. I dont ever go on it, ironically, for this exact reason of inconvenience. Lol

Hes a comedian. Thats his job. And yes, bullying does build character. It toughens your skin and assertiveness. Can it go too far? Absolutely, but not how Aba was doing it, had the context been correct. But it wasnt, so they immediately took it down and took accountability bc they had the story wrong. Far as the jokes? In order to think, one must risk being offensive/offended. If you go through life with 0 friction, you’ll have 0 skills in assertiveness the moment a person says anything subjectively rude. We tend to call them “Snowflakes”.

I think he just has different morals from you, doesn’t mean he doesn’t have common human decency. He helps out his local communities financially and constantly advocates for a better society. Some people aren’t bothered with pushing the boundaries and some are.

As a therapist, a few comments.. i agree on the positive of MH being brought into any convo bc im extremely prob MH awareness. To the point i sometimes get criticized for writing too much.. but for me, this is part of my job, imo. Not just therapy, but also destigmatizing disorders, correcting dumb assumptions some make using real terminology to shame someone, and the most frustrating one, people who try to use MH as a shield. Now, to be clear.. that 3rd is NOT a dig at you (i can see it taken that way, im more referencing people lying and throwing around terms like BPD, Bipolar, Autism, etc) My q for you is first.. you do understand youre not considered the same as the group being criticized, correct? Forget the ignorant people for a moment bc people are idiots, but you do understand youre considered the “anomaly”.. the very small fraction of the overall problem, right? Im saying this to try strengthening a bit of your self awareness since i understand how your brain can warp your own perception. I know it doesnt fix the idiots who choose to shame, but try to concentrate on knowing the truth yourself. The only person who should matter. Now, one slight critique since youre under my MH umbrella. I also have a diagnosed personality disorder (reason i became a therapist) and have worked with many diff people and their struggles, along with my own. For instance, reading your annoyance of people giving “duh”tips that literally have no association with you is something many, including myself go through with anxiety/panic attacks. Anytime i hear someone say “just get over it” “brah, its all in your head, just stop thinking abt it” etc, at this stage in my life, makes me want to strangle them for their ignorance. As if anyone LIKES being unable to suddenly breathe or think properly. Same goes with depression (“just go to the gym”), BPD (“ohh that ex gf crazy thing”).. so many stigmas and triggers. Issue with people like us in MH is that we are forced to understand we are the very smallest minority, the anomaly of any situation. Meaning, the majority dont have an excuse for how they victimize themselves for a bad behaviour. If not for a disorder, there is nothing excusing someone being overweight. Its an easy fix of self discipline. Id give ANYTHING for my personality disorder to be something i could just completely erase with enough practice. But, i cant. Even as a therapist, id say im more in control of my staggering amt of disorders it comes with than most with the same diagnosis, but i still have days where i get triggered and lose all control and go into fight or flight. Its chemical, automatic, and no amount of self discipline will calm me down once my trigger was activated. What i can do, and what i do teach, is prevention. Self assertiveness. Learning what your triggers are and finding a solution best for my client. Using myself as an example again.. ive come to understand the hardest glitch i have trouble tweaking is social anxiety. Depression, adhd, ocd, etc i can manage pretty easily at this point. But not social anxiety, so the best decision i came across was to just define exactly what triggered me (type of people? Gender? How many per group more/less, time of day, etc. It sounds complicated bc it is. Were in the minority, and unfortunately, we dont get a MH pass card to show people. So its on us to control our triggers, learn how to cope with them.. any tweaking that could be done, etc. People will always be evil in this world. And ironically, the biggest positivity of a MH disorder IS being bullied bc its thickening our skin. It doesnt make it right.. and i do empathize with you, but thats “people”. They arent that great at seeing beyond the scope of what matters to only themselves. And theres nothing we can do about how others choose to behave on a grand scale without coming off as “woe is me”, especially when in the minority. For ex. I mentioned empathisizing with you. But thats only bc Ive been in similar situations with my own diagnosed issues. I dont, however, empathize with people who have nothing mentally stunting them, and choose to live unhealthy lifestyles.. whats there to connect with? Even for you next to someone at an unhealthy weight with 0 mh problems? Does it bother you to be shamed as if youre the same as the one with no mental obstacles? It certainly bothers me anytime i watch someone pretending to have a panic attack to get out of something. Its insulting. My overall point is this, dont think of yourself as 1:1 with anyone else overweight with themselves to blame. And to make you aware that your situation, admittedly sucks, but its an situation widespread to all corners of anyone with a MH glitch who might act out to the general public. So its our job to be responsible for how we see the world skewed and what our triggers are and best methods to deflect them without “word policing” or feeling bad for a situation you literally cant fix bc its genetic. What an unintelligent take almost as if you didn’t watch the conversation the whole point being made is even if your eating 1200 calories a day if your eating some little shitty over processed food you hunger won’t be satiated so what foods should be eaten for different people is very complicated cause not everyone tryna to look and eat the same
