Becoming a OMC is a good way to live longer when you are old and alone. If you have a heart attack or stroke you are most likely at the poker table where someone can call 911. And if you don't show up one day someone will worry and call for a wellness check on you.
Actually happened at my local casino. I'm a dealer and noticed a player not coming in anymore. I wasn't the first to notice but the gentleman did indeed pass away. Small local poker communities are family
This is so true. We have an OG Ms Gloria at our casino. She will clock in at 10 and leave at 1pm if she doesn’t lose her money. A few days she didn’t show up we got worried like where did she go 😅
Used to play with an older man like this. He used to only play aces kings and occasionally ace king and queens. One day he raised first hand and everyone folded and he showed 73off and said to people. now how many times do you think I’ve done that and nobody’s realised because you all think I’m a tight old man!!
Still one of the best moments I ever had playing poker was when an OMC 3 bet for the first time in about 7 hours of playing, and the other 6 players at the table where all very good grinders much better than me back then. It went 5 ways to the flop because everyone knew exactly what he had and old dude actually was about 200bb deep. Flopped set over set (5s over 3s)against this guy who was also crushing. And old man didn’t wait for those aces to fold them on the flop no matter what the action was so I scooped a monster 😂
Every 3-4 sessions, I would leave the 1/3 table with +$1000 stacks. An OMC said to me: “I’ve been playing poker for over 40 years, and never had a stack over $1000.” I said: “you only play aces and kings, old man.”
Yeah same OMC at my table. There was a player who was loose and aggressive, OMC is like I’m gonna stack him, I said to him grandpa you play too tight to stack him, he’s just gonna fold lol. Sure enough he didn’t stack him 😂
I dealt to one of these OMC players today. 1/2 NLH, He pre-flopped raised to $5 on the button, big blind raised to $20 and he calls. Flop is 5x8s8d, big blind bets $20, OMC jams for $80. Big blind calls with 4s5d. OMC shoes AA. 5 on the turn, brick on river, OMC left in anger and I said, “That one’s for you Greg.”
I know an old guy that is basically at the poker table to accumulate comps on his players card. He plays tight for 5 minutes, leaves the table to play slots for 25 minutes, comes back to the table right before they can pick up his chips, and then does it all over again😂
You found my dad -but you forgot the 1930s remarks on international womens day he made after all in shove: "We gave you women rights and we can take them away".
there was one mega nit omc yesterday at my 1/2 game who didn't raise AK pre or raise a turn bet and checked it down when he had the second nuts. Raises pre and there was one super action player who was playing all sorts of garbage raises pre gets 4 callers action player min click 3 bets then omc goes all in for 400 one other guy tanks for a bit then calls all in for 120ish because he says the action player will call and action player calls off the 400. Nit had KK action player had 82o and other all in 57o board came out 567K8 3 hearts and I folded JT hearts. Then action player goes to play 2/5 and it was frustrating
In all honesty, if at a casino, I assume it's to maintain a rewards card level so he gets tickets to shows for free. That and the bad beat jackpot. That's what keeps him coming, lol.
I cut my teeth playing guys like these, it gives me a advantage if I run deep in tournaments because tight is right with 20 left… You have to bait omc in cash, let them get in with a blind, if they raise you only call with a high double suited hand… it’s tough to do but possible
Usually story behind most OMC's is just: "I ran a big bluff once and it got called. So now I don't bluff." Okay, so what are you going to do when I start folding top pair against your flop bets because I know you only bet two-pair or better? How are you going to get your blinds back when you can't even get a single bet in against me? Here's an idea, in light of your fold equity, maybe you should *shock, horror* try running a bluff every now and again :) More simply, we can say that predictable poker is bad poker.
