The thing is, he said this about minority plans. Isn't it obvious that Muslims, being the largest & probably the most backward minority, should be given first preference? I think anyone who believes in social justice would agree with him. I don't understand why BJP and you guys are making such a fuss about it. And your idea of benefits/reservations based strictly only on economic basis is also not fair. Especially in a country like India where people are discriminated and disrespected, probably even rejected on the basis of birth, considering only economic status is not fair. We both know that a poor Brahmin, a poor OBC, a poor Muslim and a poor SC/ST are not the same. Upper class Hindus and other castes still have certain privileges in our country. So it's important that we give a little preference to the most vulnerable, even if it's based on birth. There should be positive discrimination as long as there's negative discrimination. It's a shame that educated Indians like you are not so aware of social justice and BJP is clearly milking it. I hope now know who Dr ambed kar would be really ashamed of.
