@Lord of The EdgeChimeras can't "turn into" conjoined twins. But sure, if chimeras with two sets of DNA are possible, then dizygotic conjoined twins should be theoretically possible as well. However, the mechanics would be completely different - usually, you get monozygotic (identical) twins when the zygote splits and forms two embryos. In the case of conjoined monozygotic twins, the split isn't complete. Dizygotic conjoined twins would require two different zygotes that merge with each other. Thing is, I bet you can find it all, somewhere in the world. Possibly in India and other countries, where cousins marry cousins for generations and you get all kinds of genetic fuck-ups because of it. We just don't know about them, and they often aren't viable - in those circumstances, it's quite probably that both the mother and the babes die because of complications during pregnancy or birth. This phenomenon (any of them) is also extremely rare and hard to observe and document just by chance. It's probably more common in animals where large litters are quite usual in contrast to humans. Still, it got nothing to do with hermaphrodites, which can be seen as one of several possible genetic disorders that affect the development of the sexual organs.
Just think of all the strange shit your brother does that you will never get to experience... You're missing out! Comedic gold I tell you. Comedic. Gold.
They have a team of different types of surgeons (i.e. cardiac, orthopedic, urinary/reproductive, & etc.). And as soon as they are separated, they split into 2 different teams of surgeons & nurses to work on each twin.
This is why I study 40+ hours a week in these rigorous science courses, I want to save lives when I become a surgeon. Almost done with college, next step medical school
Chien-He Yang, you can't just say luck was on their side. the doctors and surgeons played the biggest roles as they were the ones who did the operations to separate the girls. Give credit to them too when credit is due!
I was a patient at Mayo where this surgery occurred. It was the talk of the hospital and a great distraction for the patients from the pains we suffered. What a blessing that they were able to move on with life.
Wow! I can't imagine how exciting this must have been with all the teams of doctors, nurses, and all the other medical support. That's something you can say you were there during this exciting and life improving day!
If for whatever reason I had to choose how I was born, I'd rather be like Abby and Brittany Hensel instead of Lori and George Schappell. At least Abby and Brittany Hensel's faces/heads aren't directly connected. That would be awful living with someone's faces connected to mine! When I see people like this, I don't even want to complain about my life anymore.
Tori Richards it is just my hobby. Evertimes I see siblings I love to find which parts (their nose, their lip, their height, etc) of them look alike. I am the only child and so I always wanna know the feeling of having siblings.
The Mayo Clinic Hospital performed a successful kidney transplant on my nephew last week. Our extended family went into over drive with prayers. From Friday when he got the call to Tuesday when he was brought home. Different languages, religious beliefs, continents and social status came together in prayer for a wonderful, generous, respectful young man to receive God's blessings. While still in the recovery room, my nephew asked the nurse to have his Mom & Dad thank everyone for their prayers. ♥️
How wonderful that he is doing well. the prayers alone were not enough - it takes the science behind the doctors. Best wishes and what a sweetheart he must be to ask for his thanks to be expressed.
It's absolutely amazing how they were able to literally separate one body into two without causing any major harms. Science ladies and gentlemen, Science.
I'm fairly sure the payment was in prestige and publicity for the hospital, although I'm not sure about the cost of the 6 months pre-surgery hospital stay.
Something approaching the national debt, I am sure. There are surgeons that do this kind of thing for free, teams of surgeons from around the world, but I don't know about this particular situation.
They probably didn't pay anything, in Europe most countries don't have the problem of health insurance because it's almost all paid by the state through taxes
I could never imagine how scary it must have been for the parents when they were in the surgery but also the relief they felt when it was successful. Im so happy for this family, and the girls connection is so cute. They have double the connection than twins born seperated :'). Made my day thannk the lord!! Subhanallah
I'd have been Terrified if they were my babies, but would have chosen to do the same. Those parents did right though by trying their best to not only give life to those girls, but to also give them s chance at Quality of life. It paid off:) Those girls are so very happy and loving life.
Mimi May Actually, there was quite a lot of publicity here in the local area when the were separated and we could follow them on Caring Bridge, but that was just because it was so unusual and uplifting. Since the surgery the family has been mostly under the radar and the only time you hear about them is at a significant birthday.
What fun, intelligent, and beautiful girls! I remember when they were born and when they went through their separation surgery. I was holding my breath at the time. So glad to see how far they have come. Continued blessings for your entire family! Xxx
Tin Ngo I am no genius..... I just know a lot of people with cancer and who have died from it. On the bright side, I also know people who have beat really bad ones. I just wish there was a cure. Right now my 34 year old niece just got diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer out of the blue. My dad had cancer and thankfully they caught it in time and it did not spread. My cousin Tisha died of cancer at 15. Right now my next door neighbor is dying from colon cancer. The neighbor to the right of us has bladder cancer. The list goes on. Well, not too long ago, we found out our water has been contaminated since 1996, so that may be a huge reason a lot of our neighbors have cancer. including my niece who always drank the water. She lived in the same district for a while. There is a lawsuit over it, since last year. It is a big one with 3, maybe 4 law firms joining in.
Exactly, they are lucky they could be separated, but as conjoined twins go, they were minimally conjoined. Some twins like Abigal and Brittany Hensel are just too connected to ever have a successful separation, since they share the same body that forks into two heads.
Two beautiful girls. I'm so glad that such amazing things have come for them and their family. And the brilliant surgeons who gave them that chance to be seperated. Good to see them so happy .
These doctors are all amazing blessings needed in this world . All the hours and time they put in contributing for all human life especially this kind of surgery ! Thank you and bless you all ! 🙏
+Tara Kelly They live in North Dakota - not sure which town. The surgery was performed 10 years ago in Rochester, Minnesota, at the Mayo Clinic (famous hospital).
It's very sad that people like you have no personality, so much so, they have to steal another person's username. The name 'Jasmin Flower' is much too close to the name I had, yrs before you set yours up. Very sad and annoying, indeed!
Yes, bless those doctors, and all the medical staff who worked on this. It must have taken an army of medical professionals to even figure out how they were going to approach this and all the plan b's and c's in case the others didn't work right. Soemtimes they don't know exactly what obstacles they might face with organs and all. I find it fascinating and to me, there medical people - the researchers, the nurses, the doctors, the technicians - every one of them - they are heros.
I am just so happy for both these beautiful young ladies, and I hope they both live to a ripe old age and find happiness in their lives. God bless you both!
GalaxyCrystal57 :P People can dislike a video becuase of many reasons, they could think the video didn’t had good commentary, was too long or something like that. Don’t just call people you don’t even know heartless, I can also just assume you wrote this comment because you hate everyone who doesn’t agree with you.
Crazy Hermine if she's not allowed to assume that those people are heartless, what gives you the right to assume that she hates anyone who disagrees with her?
Marik Ishtar Lover249 Did you even read my comment right? I was saying "I can also just assume" I was giving some sort of example, not actually assuming.
What a heart warming story, those Doctors are miracle workers... how proud they must be on their success with these girls. Their parents must be so happy and appreciative for those Doctors... the hand holding still shows the connection these two have.
This is AMAZING!!! It’s SO good that they get to live their own lives! I’m a month older than them, and I couldn’t believe how brave they were. It’s such a miracle that the world has evolved enough to do things just like this. I’m amazed! 🙏🏻👍♥️
Beautiful beautiful young girls... May their lives be long and always full of joy. The medical teams who performed such intricate surgery are wonderful people. Lovely story. ❤️
Hi my name is kambrea and I am friends with Isabelle and Abigail and they are really good friends we go to the same school and I could not be more thankfully for them
I don't want this to sound weird but.. What about when they develop? They were conjoined at the chest... Will their breasts grow normally? Is there a lot of scar tissue on their stomachs? Are their ribs out of place?
the day they were separated just happened to be on my birthday and hearing that made me tear up. makes the day extra special because now I can celebrate for all 3 of us for living healthy and wonderful lives
Its remarkable how they have completely individual bodies whereas when they were born their organs were quite literally in a twist. I love seeing stuff like this and watching how they grow up.
A.J. Dorks :3 same here but instead with gaming. both of my sisters hate gaming and I've always wanted a sibling that likes gaming But in January I found out I had an older brother and he loved gaming
