Twin girls joined at the head who share the same brain and so much more. Watch a follow up story - 8 years later - on a similar set of twins: ABCNews.com/vid...
[MD] Marcus We had conjoined twins in our country Tanzania, Maria and Consolata, They were in the first year of their bachelor degree in one of our universities. One of them was ill and they had been admitted to hospital for more than a month before they died two days ago. One died first and the other followed within quarter to half an hour and today they have been buried. God's work!!!
Bhavani Kempegowda According to the Bible, everyone is born sinful. I am an atheist and even I know this. This shows how little you guys read the Bible and yet call yourselves Christians.
@@paper2222 if you watch the 60 minutes Australia episode, their doctor explains that they dont share a brain; in fact they each have their own brain. The reason they cant be seperated is because, Tatiana pumps blood through her body which then passes through Krista; which is exactly why Tatiana is much smaller in size because she's doing all the work. They also have stem cell tissue that connects both of their brains, which is how they see, hear, & feel; what the other see's, hear's, & feel's.
Thank you for mentioning it. No one ever does. I never see an interviewer ask about it. They're in a very unnatural position. How can it not result in severe pain? Even back pain? And how do they sleep?
I didn't know it was possible. I thought our brain is our identity so it can't possibly be shared. I just can't comprehend how could two people have one brain...do they still think differently? Lol. Weird so weird.

Imagine waking up and just asking your twin if she dreamt the same and she is like: "Yeah, of course." This is really interesting and as long as they are happy I find this quite awesome.
So they can know what's going on in each others brain? Does this mean its almost just one person with 2 bodies? Are there 2 brains or 1? Does that mean if its 1 brains that it can see through 4 eyes and taste through 2 mouths? I'm so mind fucked right now..
that's the thing. There are two brains, but it's like they have each 2/3 of a brain and they share 1/3 with the other. So they have different personnalities, they have different knowledges, they can do something while the other is doing something else. But at the same time they can hear the other's toughts and see through the other's eyes and even physicaly feel the other's feelings (so if you hurt one, the other is going to be hurt as well)
I agree with the comments about how right now they are happy... but what happens when puberty begins and they’re teenagers... girls are always feeling self-conscience about their looks... cannot imagine how they are going to feel with the added element of being conjoined. What about when they have their first crush on a boy? Again, it’s painful enough for normal teenage girls to go through. What about career choices? What if one wants to be a Teacher and the other a Lawyer? How do they handle that? They cannot possibly go 4 years to one College and study Teaching then 4 more for Law!!! They will NEVER be happy as Adults. Too many obstacles and so much emotional turmoil.. I feel so sorry for them.. such a rough road ahead.
You both should look at more conjoined twin videos. Their are two that teach elementary kids together. Happiness is a matter of perspective. I'm appalled at the question of abortion the doctor posed.
Laura Landando, what do YOU do if you want to do two things and can't decide? You do one then the other. Most adults aren't happy. Most adults feel they made the wrong choice etc. PS. What do you mean "normal teenage girls"? Why are they not "normal"?
its a miracle that they survived birth and that they are living healthy lives. with all of those odds pitted against them they are still here and alive on this earth. They are so precious and just overall sweet little babies. they are a living blessing thats how you have to look at this. there is no other way to say it.
Most of what I read is, "they should be seperated", or "I pity them". They sure as hell don't need pity or to be seperated, it doesnt amaze you that these girls can somehow learn things in half the time we "NORMAL" humans can? Double their learning experience? These girls may very well be smarter than everyone else in the future if they study enough.
I understand what you are saying, but in all honesty, they need to be separated. Sure no harm is done right now, but as they get older more problems will occur. In the future, the girls will be seen as freak shows or monsters by other people. I'm not saying they are, but seeing as how society works, the girls wont be treated as normal and fairly
I would not have had them. This might sound awful but I'm not going to mince words. As a mother I am unable to condone the decision made to have them--their lives are okay now because they are babies but as they age, things are going to change. Obvious things such as puberty, relationships and the medical stress it will put on their bodies would be too much. I've got children of my own. I could not bring children into the world with a condition like this. If they were conjoined and separable, yes; but not when the condition is destined to cause them hardships that as a mother I could not fix.
What about when they get older what would each twins think will they be mad at the parents and you know there are some rude people in this wicked world that would make fun of them I don't know it's just my thought I don't believe in abortion unless if I know what's going on with my pregnancy and if it's not too late abortion I don't care who's upset about my comment
I mean its very understandable, it'll be hard both on the parents and children especially if the parents aren't capable of providing enough money for all of the medical fees
Newsflash - every child is going to have hardships and challenge in their lives that you as a mother will not be able to "fix" or understand....are you then going to just kill all your kids - cause they aren't "perfect". These kids are clearly loved and loving their lives despite your ignorance.
The mother of these twins took that very well. Even with her twins conjoined, she still decided to keep them and loves them the same as even if they weren't conjoined. Love this mother and the twins were really adorable (:
for anyone worried about these girls, i went to elementary school with them for a long time and they were treated very well by their peers. they weren't bullied or made fun of to my knowledge. they have lots of friends and are very sweet little girls. they seemed happy and healthy :)
To me it seems like the girls are a wonder, sent to us to help us all to understand more about ourselves. Imagine what two connected minds are able to archive. May their path be happy and successful!
Even if they do not look like normal girls, he sure as hell didn't mean their deformity. He meant how lively those girls were, and how they ran around the house excitedly.
They're truly beautiful and fascinating. Although, I hope they can still be fully happy during adulthood, when it comes to college, job prospectives, dating, etc. :/
As a daughter of identical & fraternal twins and the mother of multiples myself, I find stories such as these fascinating. Some comments here are quite rude & juvenile.
It makes me so sad that some people judge kids that are like this. They can't control it just be happy for once. Imagine if you were like this would you want people calling you ugly or have people hating you for how you look
Oyon, nobody worth taking into consideration will have anything but love and compassion for these children. Those who feel otherwise are merely subhuman turds who create their own sour reality.
The comments are really, really dark. 'Put them down quickly!' 'Why weren't these _things_ aborted?!' 'Kill it, burn it!' 'These kids need to die before they lay eggs!' I'm not creeped out by the video, but the comments.
Sedina Mahious The comments seriously make me despair for the human race. Tatiana and Krista are such beautiful, happy-looking children, and yet there are so many people - some maybe trolls, but many deadly serious - saying that these girls should be dead. I'm practically in tears, as I type this. I can't understand how people can be so callous, so heartless, so monstrous... But no, I'm lying. I do understand how it is possible. It's the same dark force that gives rise to racism and xenophobia and has led in the past to hideous regimes like Nazism. People fear anything that is different, and they want to destroy what they fear, because it makes them feel safer. Reading these comments, it is easy to see how Nazism got hold. Much as we like to think that we are more enlightened now, we are not. The same mindset is all around us. I am very, very frightened.
I know, right? People just don't understand. These girls are living happy normal lives as well as other people who are born different. Their mother made the right choice to not abort them.
Sora Wolf I know. That's why I'm working on it and having a DARN GOOD time. ;D (I have written MUCH comments! X3 ) Everybody just says that it's waste of time, but I am enjoying it, so it's THEIR loss to hate things while I'M ENJOYING IT. :D
Does anyone know if there are any updates on them? It’s been about 10 years now and I’d love to hear what they have to say about what it’s like to share a brain?
I saw them at metrotown mall near Vancouver BC. they came in the food court and sat at a table next to me. Looked like they were well and healthy by what I saw. They are now 16 years old.
I hate when people say these girls are weird or ugly! These young, beautiful children are unique because they live a life that sounds really interesting! :D
Karl Bridge When you quote them beautiful just be honest im not gonna troll you if you say they aren't beautiful. But Fascinating sounds like what somebody would say about frankenstein or something.
Well they're both things. They are absolutely unique biologically speaking but lovely girls too. I wouldn't have them libelled they're such sweet children!
Hmmm..very controversial, there are a lot of healthy children on this earth that cant get resources to thrive, although it seems that these two have a all the support they need...I still couldn't envy them.😐
***** I'm not lying to myself sweetheart. I think they're a blessing from God, but yes, it would be nice, and even more of a blessing if they could get surgery. Never need to lie to myself tho.
Isn't it sad they would never be able to look each other in the eyes?...I think it is! But it surely is a miracle people like them can beat the odds and live, even such very difficult conditions (well, i guess difficult to me,personally, speaking ), because they seem to be doing just fine. Incredible! !
this is insane. so do they have separate thoughts or are they basically just one person??? i literally cant wrap my head around how the hell their brain works. when they were singing together i had instant shivers.
Sometimes I wonder if any of the people watching these videos realize that the twins have family and friends who may possibly come across the horrible comments. No they're not suffering they're perfectly healthy and happy 7 year olds. They don't get teased in school and actually have quite a few friends. Their parents are NOT crack heads. Please think about what you say people, you could very well hurt someone.
+Halle Jenns That's like thinking your legs would break apart when you run. They are attached with their skulls, it's not something that woul break easily.
I’m very sad to see the situation these beautiful young girls have to deal with. Hope they live a long happy life,it may be hard but I’m sure they will.
I don't get the selfish mother comments. There is no guarantee their lives will be bad because this is an unprecedented occurrence. Like damn, as soon as something bad happens in your life do you want to give up? Life is full of beauty and pain. No person experiences only one. That's the human experience, which is what these kids are, humans. Hard lives are given to lot of people, and the only thing that would cause someone to wish they were never born is depression, but depression is not permanent. The mother wanted to give them a chance, and she is far from stupid, she is courageous, and able to love unconditionally, not superficially. I'd be more than proud to have a mother like her.
I get what you are saying but if they had the choice would they want such a hard life? What happens when mom passes away? I wish people would stop saying it's so easy. Be honest and real. It is not easy. They will go through phases of joy and pain. They will at some point be angry with their mom. Then they will feel better. Because they are human they will have ups and downs. Just like people without a conjoined twin.
they wont get marry.. but honestly they share same brain and i think the man is lucky to have both.. its not like when they will.. have kids they will be the same as them. ..
I feel that this isn't how live is meant to be, but even when life is hard, who decide if its worth it. They can't because they don't know anything else, they are young now, but will have more obstacles than most people, maybe not more, but different. I really don't know what I would have done, if I had to make a decision like that
I agree. Personally I could not have brought them into the world. I think it’s cruel making them live. It’s no life. No matter what folk say. I’m an atheist and a realist.
That's such a controversial situation.. say one of them grows up and becomes depressed or even worse, commits suicide. What would happen to the other? It'd be understandable for them to make that choice given their situation. We can't pretend to know how we'd feel in their shoes. Or what it one dies of natural causes, what would happen to the other? I Hope that if they want it, they are able to find a way to separate them safely. I can't even begin to imagine all of the hardships and controversy in their lives.
+Scripted Cookies Hmmmm I mean maybe. Their brain is connected but its still two brains isnt it? I don't really know I'm just guessing. I just know I'm glad I'm not them.
If a doctor told me my twins are conjoined I probably wouldn't be able to finish pregnancy. These people are amazing they are able to concure everything
coward, youll never acconplish anything in life because you want to take the easy route for everything. youll probably die from cancer by using the microwave too much
U know one thing I realize seeing these kids happy That we exaggerate most of our problems a few times more challenging because we are constantly thinking about what other people think
I love these miracle girls and I’ve been following their story for years, and last week I had a dream that I was walking on the sidewalk with them, and they tripped and fell and their heads separated and they were completely fine, no blood or anything.
Everyone is talking about what rough or hopeful lives they will or won't lead and then there's that one person who's like: How do you put the shirt on..? XD
***** By definition, brother-sister twins aren't identical; they're fraternal. Fraternal twins develop from two different eggs fertilized by two different sperm cells. Identical twins develop from a single fertilized egg that split, but it can't split into different genders.
***** That would be an extremely rare case if both were males originally and one happened to lose a Y chromosome. However, that would cause that twin to have Turner Syndrome since she would have only 1 X chromosome instead of 2. Since this only happens less than 0.01% in identical twins, I am led to believe that you just know fraternal twins who happen to look a lot like each other. I respect that your mom is a nurse, but it really doesn't make sense for identical twins to be different genders if you really think about it.
I don't know if I should feel bad about saying this, but if I was a girl and I knew that these girls would be conjoined at head, I don't think I'd still have the twins. It's not that I'd hate a challenge or something, but when I think of these twins, it's impossible to not think about the life they would have. Nothing to themselves, always sharing. Not to mention adulthood, trying to decide on a job, college, housing...I feel like it's just be better for them...I'm probably gonna get a lot of hate, but I don't really care, I know that this life isn't a life I'd want these type of twins to have.
I'm not sure what I would chose for the kids if they were mine. I would think about the long run, they will never be able to have kids or get married because they can't live separate lives..but then again they will always have each other. If they go to a public school people will judge them and call them names and they will be self-conscious about themselves no matter how much support they have from family and friends. Say they go to prom, and there were two gentlemen that actually decided to take them and give them one night of happiness dealing with school, that's the one perfect thing they will have the cherish forever. Killing them as babies seem so wrong and twisted but not letting be able to live a normal live and get married and have kids and party and get drunk and all types of fucked up things seems pretty twisted too...Idk what I would chose but I know that you guys can't say the mother is selfish or dumb in any way. If I were them I would have wished to be aborted because I see how I live now as a normal person and to wonder what it would be like as a conjoined kid in high school...I wouldn't want to go through that, but that's just my preference.
they have 2 brains that are joined together, making it possible for them to read each others thoughts and see what the other is seeing. Ive seen other videos on these two wonderful girls where their mother covered one of their eyes and showed the other a toy and the one with their eyes covered could name the toy (piggy). i believe they are 12? now or around that age. Its also been said that yes they are two people and control their own limbs and stuff, if they want to one controls 3 legs and an arm and the other can control 3 arms and a leg. It honestly is truely a miracle that these beautiful girls are happy and healthy and are incredible in a way that no other conjoined twins are
