I smell a rat as I'm pretty sure drones weren't around in those days 😁 Fantastic work to be fair, loved it. I'm from Connah's Quay and know the area well. I'd love to see something like this from Shotton steelworks heyday. Thanks for sharing!!!

Amazing. This was my Great Great Grandfather’s home port. He worked deep sea and costal passages, reaching Dublin during the Famine, Jordan and we believe Japan. Mam said he liked the Irish and took what food he could during the Famine, including chickens.

This is amazing. Seeing an are I’m so familiar with and what it looked like all those years ago. And the old Quay House pub building (I’ve drank in there) still there albeit turned into living accommodation a few years ago.

I take a jog down the docks every morning it's so nice and relaxing and the seagull noises played in this video are very accurate

The moment when you fade from the old photograph to the visualization makes me smile every time.

It looks like the docks would have been the very centre of life, & the Quay back then. Nice work.

Brilliant video. It gives a real feeling of what the old Quay docks were like when my Nan and her brother and sister were growing up. My Nan told us that when a new ship was being launched the children had the afternoon off from school to go and watch. In the 1980’s my Dad did a lot of drawings taken from photographs of the area including the Old Quay House where we used to stop outside for a drink when we went for a walk along around “the Rock” when I was little. He did a great drawing of the “Lizzie May”, later renamed “Kathleen and May” which was built in the Quay and which we visited in Liverpool docks but I’m not sure if she is still there now. Dad would have loved this.

A very intuitive construction! Connah Quay has changed dramatically over the years. P.S. love smoke from the locomotive in the background!

A recreation of the building and launching of the "Royal Charter" at Sandycroft before it was wrecked near Moelfre on Anglesey when returning from the Australian goldfields in 1859 would be magnificent to see ! (Big Ask?)

Have you ever thought of doing a basic tutorial of how you make one of these and I was just wondering how long does it take you?

Brilliant, I really got a feel for life back then. Just wondered where and how do you get your people? Are they modelled separately or do you have a specific program?
@DextraVisual
@DextraVisual 3 года назад
Cheers. The base mesh for the people is from Fuse. The clothing detail and animations are done in Blender and 3dCoat.

Very Nice - are you using blender or unity? Its very sharp are you rendering at 60fps?
@DextraVisual
@DextraVisual 3 года назад
Thanks Colm. All models are made in Blender, including the people. Textured in 3dcoat and the scene is setup, animated and captured in Unity. The output is 60fps and at 4k. There is some quality loss on youtube. I use a decent PC build these days so I am going to start rendering out full projects in Blender. Your own renderings are very good. I especially like your Rock of Cashel reconstruction, as I was fairly recently reading about Brian Boru and the history of the Rock.

@@DextraVisual I'm doing mostly viewport rendering so that impacts the quality as you probably know too well..I'm slowly mastering blender though..I'm using mostly materialise and gimp as well as blender....anyhoo great work..congrats.
