Thank you for your video! I’ve got the Soundcraft Notepad 12fx and I’m connecting it the way you showed to my iPhone. My problem is that when I’m trying to record a video and when playing it back input one is recorded only left and input 2 right. And also I cannot record with the very nice lexicon fx. My main purpose when buying the camera adapter was to record my RU-vid covers easily, with no post processing needed. Is there a solution to that? I mean to record on my video the stereo output of the Soundcraft with the fx? Thank you once again. Greetings from Greece!
A stereo track records two tracks. Have you tried panning or recording in mono? Don’t know why you wouldn’t hear effects. I’d check software/app make sure it is set properly. I use the Zoom Q8 for video recording when I need good sound.
@@DebErney I had no problem recording 1,2,3 or 4 individual tracks at once on Cubase, mono/stereo, with or without fx. It works amazingly well and it’s a great value for money mixer/interface. Almost all my songs/covers/reviews on my channel are recorded with it. My problem was with the iPhone. Now, after “playing” around a bit, I understood that if you turn on the ducking while on the pc and then just disconnect the pc and connect the iPhone without unplugging the power cord, you can record iPhone videos using your microphones, the onboard eq and the fx which is fantastic for making great sounding, one-take videos really easily (for RU-vid covers, reviews and stuff). Unfortunately Facebook will not “see” it so as to make a great sounding Facebook live. Thank you a lot for your reply. You did a great job comparing the notepad 12fx to the Focusrite. Stay safe and rock on! Greetings from Greece.
@@yiren7061 of course you can, and using the loop back function, you can include compression and eq from the morphing channel strip and also the great rev-x reverb. Just make sure that you first open the streaming app and just before pressing the “start button”, connect the interface to the phone. Thanks for watching. Greetings from Greece!
If I buy this unit am I able to record the Master into my iPhone/iPad via the USB out? This way I could record the mic + backing music + Lexicon FX all at once into a .wav or .mp3 without buying another recorder (like Zoom). Thank you for this informative demo.
@@DebErney hi i bought this mixer a few days ago unfortunately i cant get any of the lexicon fx to my recording? Can I know how I can record with the effects.
Can I use this piece of equipment to record video on my iPhone while using 2 mics? I’m trying to do a video podcast and this seems to be the best solution if it works
Hmm i dont know...Was told this would work to be a guest at someones live at Tiktok. But the only problem is...i can only hear the sound from the iphone but no one can hear my guitar or microphone so i dont know?? Did i buy this adapter for nothing...since it dont work as i was told it would?
@@DebErney well I have my mixer from USB in to the iPhone and still they say They cant hear me or the guitar...well at first i could not hear anything either...i do now and two ppl said they still could not hear anything...then I guess i would not hear anything either...the reason i wanted someone to listen to its because i have a hearing impairment.
@@DebErney yes I tried it, I used a mixer which supports usb interface and was able to get the sound from the mixer to my iPhone when recording. Thank you
@@DebErney I got an apple HDMI adapter so I can get my guitar signal to play through my headphones as a clean signal in my mixing board but when I tried to plug it in and use it in my iPad garage band, I’m not getting any monitoring or any signal.
@@johnsguitarmusicanddemos in the video I’m using an apple lightening to usb connector. HDMI is not necessarily for sound and will not connect to mixer. Here’s what I used in video amzn.to/3paJLWD
Hmmm....this VERY hard to figure out. The Rode SC6-L interface DOES NOT work with a mixer output...even if converting the XLR to unbalanced, then send to a trs to trrs, then to Rode. Maybe I'm missing the mixer, unbalanced, to ts to trs, to trs to trrs, to Rode. Its insane. I was hoping to do "duplex" from the iphone, where I can send audio, and receive. Anyway, so you cant run Soundcraft to a powered hub, then use a lightening charging cable from that hub to the iphone...right? That special connector has electronics that make it scrape out the audio? Wow, thats worth $100.
Thanks for the reply! No, havent tried the headphone out...I dont know why Soundcraft left out the RCA "tape out" option. I bought that apple adaptor, will try that...@@DebErney
Ive tried everything -lightening to USB with power, to powered hub to mixer, -lightening to USB with power, to non powered hub to mixer, -iphone to Rode SC6 with trrs to trs adaptor, to headphone out...I just get a jet engine sound. Nothing works.
I just tried the SAME iphone adaptor for hours, same hookup, nothing. Then tried ANOTHER adaptor, looks like slightly different model, same hookup...and it WORKED. I went back to the original first adaptor that I tried for hours. NOW it works. I dont understand.
@@iamkeff sorry, I thought u were asking about the Notepad 12FX. Which has 4 in/out usb. Any analogue mixer only has 2, one left, one right or 1 stereo.
Thank so much for this video! I’ve tried to hook my iPhone 11 Pro Max up to my mixer for live-streaming but it won’t work. I tried an Irig 2 HD but it only works with old iPads. I will give this a try. I just need the camera adapter. Is the usb always necessary? Is the hub just for keeping the phone charged? Hope you have a great Holiday Season Deb.
Get the camera adapter and connect usb interface from mixer to the adapter and the sound will be on your iPhone when recording, I tried it and it worked
What if I am using two android phones.. one as a source of music and another for video.. how should the routing look like when I want to use the usb printer I/O?
Thanks. Everything works. But when I connect my digital piano out to the mixer, GarageBand does not get any audio. If I take the mixer out of the chain, and take a direct out from the piano, GarageBand gets the audio fine. What am I doing wrong?
Great video, but I am trying to run a mixer into an iPad and then run a line out to headphones or a pa for live home recording. My problem is Bluetooth lags so I can’t use it to record live instruments. What would be an option to run a mixer in and an audio out?
Hi Deb.....why would you need the hub? Seems like an extra device. Can't I use the printer cable from my mixer right into my lightning to usb plug in my ipad?
you may no need the hub. Try using the Cable from mixer to iPad. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. If it doesn't work try unplug re-plug a few times. I have found the powered hub to work all the time.
I think it is possible to record 4 tracks at once with the Notepad (digital), but I have not tried it. 2 tracks at once with the Behringer (not digital). But what you will find is that all tracks are routed into two tracks for output.
Lady you just explain how to hook it better then any one else has IMO opinion. I don’t have a mixer you do. And the guys at guitar store do not no nothing about car Audio . Do you have a Bluetooth device like a speaker you can see if will wirk
If you aren't going to fully explain things don't even bother. For instance, where did you get the ipad screen tgat magically appeared with the output channels? I guess that is just vodoo right? Useless video.
To anyone with three minutes of experience using Garage Band, this is the perfect video on how to connect a USB mixer to your iOS device for recording. The “magical” screens you see, showing the different choices of inputs is because of the mixers. Digital mixers provide more information to the iOS device, resulting in more input channels. The analog mixers with usb output provide only L/R channels, and/or a stereo mix. Deb explained it perfectly, and her video capture of Garage Band detecting the mixer and displaying the information was the icing on the cake. Thanks for a GREAT video. Now I can use my iPad to record direct from my mixer.
