This is Part 1 of a new series on getting started with Monkey C.
This video is an unofficial tutorial and has no affiliation with Garmin International or Connect IQ.
Monkey C is the programming language used to make custom content for Garmin fitness and wearable devices.
This tutorial walks new users through getting set up in the Eclipse IDE, installing the Connect IQ Plugin, and building your first watchface. Links below to the sites in the video:

Thanks for this direct, thorough and easy to follow tutorial. This helped me get my environment up and running very quickly so i can get down to business without wasting excessive amounts of time trying to figure out all the pointless nuances of prerequisites and specific settings during the installs of each component.

Thank you for this video. Note that Garmin is no longer providing the URL for the installation of the sdk manager from within Eclipse. The URL is still valid, but I had to type it manually based on your video. I didn't find any relevant information about how to combine Connect IQ in Eclipse (or any other IDE) elsewhere.

I am the first one to go through it. I don't know if I am after this exact information or not but i am giving a like to you and your very first subscriber. What i am after is how do i get my garmin vivo3 device data so that i can play with it, and turn into useful statistics... hope this is the right video for me. Cheers for this :)

zm, I think this is a good start. It really depends on what you are wanting to do with it exactly. With the Connect IQ SDK you can show custom data on the watch during your activity. That's called a data field. We'll be talking about some basic versions of these in the getting started videos at a later point. This video is really just to get people set up to start making what they want. We'll get into more of how to do that as time goes on! Thanks for the sub and the thumbs up. I'm excited about what we can do going forward!

Please help , when I follow your steps and click on run as connectiq app , i get the error “Failed to connect to the simulator” . Also if I click start simulator from the tools above , nothing happens

Thank you for the vid. Do u know if there's a way to increase the number of Connect IQ fields from the default 2 (in FR645) to 3,4, etc?

When i get to supported devices in the new project window, the only ones listed are vivoactive models. Do you know what im doing wrong?

When opening sdk manager it it wants me to login to connect iq and to download the sdk manager which I already did and let it install the required drivers/files. It doesnt let me browse for sdk folder location

Hmm maybe its ok and just a different step than your tutorial since the window shows the latest sdk as "current"

Hello, i have a problem. When i got to the "select devices you are going to support" none of the devices apear. What can be the problem. Im a macos user btw.

Many thanks for your reply. You have explained very well, Excellent! Looking forward to see you more videos, are they coming soon? It looks like this is for the Garmin Apps. I am at the minute want to get/pull my data (heart beats, foot steps etc) so that I can use this for the statistics. Do you have any idea how to pull/get data in may be JSON format? Cheers :)

I'll try to get content out as fast as I can. This is kind of a side project for me, but I'll try to be regular. I'll have to see what I can find out about pulling data in JSON. That's not something in the SDK as far as I know.
