At first I didn’t do anything special, like rituals or anything. I just started looking at the cards and their design, and started using it. However, this has changed lately. I cleanse them with sage or palo santo or a crystal, and read the guide books when I can now but in the meantime I have many…. Next I charge them with my intentions and ask my spirit guides to protect my deck and me (and some other things) Look at the cards, select my shadow and light card, then do a deck interview. If it’s too different from RWS I study them.

I do not have a specific ritual when I open a new tarot deck but you are inspiring me to create one. i am curious, what is your ritual when it is an oracle deck you want to bound with? Is it similar?
