Like unless you’ve learned Spanish for a lot of time you can’t get things down so I actually would feel weird if he has a strong accent. As a Latin person, I know that Spanish fandom would love it, even if isn't like OH POR DIO' ÉL TIENE UNA PERFECTA FORMA DE HABLAR Y LO HACE FLUIDAMENTE but I think that If the Spanish's Voice actor of Lance do the part, everybody would be happy
Respect for this boy just rose like tenfold. I love how he's just honest about his talent and he just wants to get everything about his character right and not offend anyone. Perfect person, wish I could meet him.
Can confirm. Met him once at a local comiccon. INSANELY chill and approachable. Had VIP tickets, (not even a flex, it was a really small con in a City barely big enough to even have one), and end up walking by his table before there was even a line. Just the friendliest, most chill dude ever.
Day number 5, Edd Fruitsnek and I are currently residing in a trash can feasting on Lance feels. Many have joined us and it's starting to feel cramped but that's okay because all the other trash cans are full.
I'm cuban, and the respect that he just showed made me so fucking happy. I'm so glad that he actually wanted to make sure he was portraying a cuban character accurately and it would be so great to hear lance speak spanish in the show!
eyyyy finally someone doesn't want to butcher spanish . I just hope they teach him how to do a cuban accent cause there's a fin difference between like mexican accent and cuban accent . Grew up with one half of my family being cuban and the other mexican . If somebody yelled across the house you could tell right away from who's side they where
It’s not just “speaking spanish”, it’s getting the right dialect. A lot of my classmates in school were from Mexican or Peruvian or Puerto Rican families, then in college I became good friends with a few with Columbian backgrounds, and another with a Cuban background, and finally most Americans-wanting-to-learn-Spanish are shipped out to Argentina for at least a year. So yeah, there’s a LOT more to it than making sure you got those vowels and rr’s right (and no, I don’t speak spanish, although I picked up the “gist” of maybe every other word when sharing a room with 3 spanish speakers...but as no one’s been able to help me learn that r-trill thing?)
THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN IN THE SHOW, Pidge speaking Italian, Lance speaking Spanish and Shiro speaking a little Japanese. Hunk could maybe speak some Samoan (I think??)
I have mad respect for Jeremy, but I also wish that they would just cast a Latino next time. As a Cuban, I appreciate any kind of representation. Everything "Latino" is usually Mexican or maybe Puerto Rican in the media. Super happy that there's a character I love that is Cuban :)
I like Jeremy as Lance. I can’t think of everyone else who can play him. Plus he doesn’t need a Spanish accent per say. He should just say some Spanish words and phrases. If he says on every occasion, people will know he is from Hispanic descent. Not that I’m against a Latino doing it but Jeremy is just so perfect in the role. Plus he should just drop Spanish words or phrases occasionally.

When I Knew That Lance Spoke Spanish And I Read A Theory That Said That He Was Cuban I Wished That He Would Be Colombian, I'm Mexican, But It's Great To Know That He Is A Latin.

i love jeremy im happy he was so respectful that he only agreed if someone taught him explicitly so he wouldnt butcher the language but couldnt they have chosen a spanish speaking, maybe specifically cuban voice actor if they wanted their cuban character to actually speak spanish, dont get me wrong lances voice is iconic love jeremy but like thats why you dont hire white voice actors for a POC you know, or the wrong person of color since josh is hispanic i think or half hispanic and shiros supposed to be japanese or smth, which also no hate love josh but you know. also makes me sad keiths human ethnicity wasnt proven cause steven speaks korean and most of the fandom accepts hes korean from his dad side so kieth speaking korean at one point couldve been a thing.

I never really got into this show but like…why didn’t they just get an actor who could actually speak Spanish if they wanted to make the character Cuban? Jeremy Shada is dope don’t get me wrong, but his voice is as “whitebread” as they come, I don’t think I can even imagine what his attempt at spanish would sound like 😂
