These women are guarding CC like she going to steal their kids. No other player gets guarded this way. DT, A'ja, they don't get guarded like Clark does. It's easy to see the players hate too.

Ofc she can be shut down when no one else on her team sets a screen or helps to get her open. It's called fundamentals and Sides has clearly forgotten what that was.

The W players know that Clark has brought tons of fans. Some of her fans think that therefore the other players should worship her or take it easy on her. Not so. Believe me, they ALL know the impact that Clark has had.

After that I could not get enough. I watched the Elite 8, Final 4 and Championship game either live or in full shortly after. Everybody talking about the W being a much higher standard seemed logical to me, after all the vast majority of seniors across America were NOT going to be drafted to a league that can only support 12 players. Then I watched the Fever games with mounting disbelief. Whether they are bad or the opponents are good, I'm not experienced enough to tell but it would be like putting Usain bolt in rubber boots and seeing if he could still run as fast.

What narratives? The only thing the players have said that coming into the WNBA won't be the same as college, and they were 100% right, and it's being proven right in front of our eyes. That doesn't mean that CC won't go on to have a great career, but it is a really hard league to come into. And it's not even what the Fever it's doing, it's also that most defenses in this league are generally speaking better than college defenses. They're faster, stronger, more athletic, better organized, higher basketball IQ, etc.

@@BenjWarrant Having watched both the WNBA and women's college basketball for about 10 years now, I can tell you that Iowa would get absolutely clapped by any WNBA team. Any college team would. The game is not the same. Individuals are better in every aspect, team defenses and defensive schemes are more sophisticated and better, it's just overall a very different game. Any WNBA player will tell you that, so you don't have to take my word for it. Caitlin is having to work much harder for her looks and I'm sure she'll adjust over time, but it doesn't happen overnight. And as far as these first two games, there's a reason the Fever have had two first draft picks in a row. It's a very young team that is very much trying to build something from the bottom up, and so far they've gone up against last season's semifinalist and finalist so the difference in quality looks even more striking. But give it time, throwing her teammates and coaches under the bus after two games is not gonna help anyone except her haters. A'ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart didn't light the league on fire in their first season, and now they're multiple-time champions and MVPs and the two best players in the world. It takes time even for the greatest.

However, there are fans who are expecting her to resume the dominance she had in college, right away. Her team remains to be seen, they're all learning each other. They just played two solid veteran teams, one which was a championship contender, the other with the best defense last year. The team needs grace too, for now.

Making her earn all that money and press that they will ever receive. That's their power, their performance on the court and if they are making Caitlin look bad and companies and the media look stupid I'm here for it.
